- In 2024 one of the things that I wanted to do more with my business was include more items that used my laser engraving machine. I am excited to start releasing items that use my Xtool M1 machine! Running a small business has it's ups and downs and for many small businesses going through the struggle of unsuccessful launches is hard. This week I am sharing with you what it looks like as a mom owned small business to launch new items and share some encouragement to anyone who is experiencing the same thing.

Okay, so im VERY blunt no nonsense type of person so don’t take this as shade. If you base your success off what you see others do you’ll NEVER be successful. I launched my Candle Shop on Small Business Saturday in November of 2023 and I’ve had all of about 20-25 sales and it does nothing but motivate me to go harder! Lastly, don’t believe every “successful launch” video you see on TH-cam…ANYONE can print out Test Invoices for content and pack some boxes🤷🏽♀️…KEEP DOING YOU AND LOVING WHAT YOU DO…IT WILL HIT!! We have to also remember that success is defined differently for everyone. One person's success may be measured monetarily while another person's success may be having more time with family. Before I became a mom I was sooo bad about comparing myself to others in many aspects of my life that I held myself back and didn't accomplish certain things. Since becoming a mom I have found a new sense of self and confidence which is what encouraged me to truly start this business. (I was in "business" but not really in business for years before I actually found the confidence and got to where I am now) I still find myself falling back to those old habits harder at certain moments like this launch but after having time to reflect and process those feelings I am motivated to keep going and keep trying! ❤️ Wishing you all the best and continued growth for your business! 🫶🏽

I’ve had my Shopify store for almost 4 years now and it has its ups and downs. My issue is that a lot of people that I know are lazy when it comes to supporting a website. They rather feel like they are able to call you on the phone or pop in your social inbox. So crafter to crafter no you are not alone. Keep promoting and socializing about your business and you’ll see a complete transformation. Good luck with everything 🎉
I have never thought about that! Thinking back now even during the holiday time many of my orders came through DM or someone texting me. I will definitely have to keep this in mind when reflecting on the business. Thank you for sharing. (Although I don't wish for others to be in this boat) it is nice to know I am not alone. I feel you on this one!!! They would also like to give you all the advice in the world on what to do, say they’ll support, and then once you launch….everyones lazy. That’s why I said, my mom is my biggest support!! 🎉 she shared with her coworkers and they’ve helped out sooooo much!!

I haven't started my page yet but I have sold on esty and watched so many people with so many orders and I sit there like one day....lol....it seems like social media is the way to go non stop....hopefully you will be a viral video to help....goals!
Being on Etsy is hard for it's own reasons too but if we just keep going and keep pushing one day we will get there! Maybe one day a video somewhere will take off but for now we will just keep going one foot in front of the other at a time. 💪🏽 Thank you so much for your kind words 😊
Keep going mom! I've had my share of unsuccessful launch days. I kept going at just hit £400 in the first 24 hours! Which was a big target for me! Stay motivated, you've got this!❤❤❤

I think you’re being so hard on yourself doing all these launches and pinning everything on a single day to determine your success. I don’t think that’s how it works! I opened an Etsy shop about a month ago, I have made 7 sales 😂, if I determined my success on day 1 of opening I’d be an abject failure, I made no sales for the first 10 days. My plan is to consistently develop products I love creating and adding them in and then evaluating as I go what seems to work and putting more focus on that. I am expecting it to take years to hopefully grow into something that has consistent and more significant income. The path to success and the path to failure are the same path! You just keep going vs giving up, hang in there, do what you love, be in it for the long game ❤
Thank you so much for your comment! What you described is exactly what I did with my pop up shops during my first year in business. I tested products, booth layouts, displays, etc. until I found what works for me. It is a similar concept here for the online space. That definitely gives me a new perspective! ❤️ It's a lot of trial and error before you find that sweet spot for you and your business. I have a few ideas to try for future launches 🤭 If they work, great! If they don't, that's okay and we just keep trying. I agree that the paths are the same the only difference is giving up or continuing to try. Something my mom told me always has stuck with me and that was to not look back and say "I wonder what if... I would have started or continued that business?" I think about that often and don't want to wonder "What if?" about things any more. Wishing you all the best and growth with your small business! 🫶🏽

That was a big reason why I started this channel to share with y'all what it is really like growing a small business that is still in the baby learning phase. I did my official launch and that bombed, too (video on my channel) and since then I have been adding new product to the shop as they come without going through the whole "launch" process. I'm not even sure where this trend of "launching" new products every month or every quarter came from. Maybe I'm old, but when I want to see what's new in a store, I go to the store. That's it. I just go there and poke around. No complications, etc. and I think it's even better because then clients are forced to sort through all your items in order to find the new ones. Lol. I dunno. Maybe it's just me. But you are so right about all the launch videos we see being so hard to watch. I clicked on this because YOU ARE LIKE ME and I AM LIKE YOU. And we are awesome!

I know the feeling I've had my online store as well for about 4 years and i have had no sales when I launched my first and second time. My business is doing ok but not as i like it too 😢. It gets frustrating for me sometimes but i know I can't give up because I've invest alot in this small business. I would just say we gotta keep going and don't give up I pray our business will boom this year and we have orders overflow! ❤

I am feeling for you, but at the end of the day, you are working hard in your business and looking after your family, and lucky to have a supportive husband right next to you with good advise, as do i. It takes time for sales to happen, it depends like what niche you have or selling on line, or the algorithm. I respect that you came on TH-cam, to say from the heart that you did not have any luck on your launch day. This does not mean you will not in the future. As for me i am just starting the journey, and you are an inspiration to me and to others. Sometimes we have multiple unsuccessful launches and it is easy to start to compare and think we are the only ones experiencing this especially when social media shows a lot of big success only stories. A camera that takes decent videos (I started with my iPhone camera), some ideas on videos to get started with and the courage to post that first video.❤ There is more you can do/get to start but really the bare bones are those things. 😊 Let me know when you upload your first video, I would love to subscribe! 🫶🏽
