NCIS: Origins Confirms My Biggest Fear About Mark Harmon’s Gibbs Prequel - And It’s Not Looking Good

- The first case for 2025 on NCIS: Origins, which has just returned from winter break, has validated my worst suspicions regarding Mark Harmon's Leroy Jethro Gibbs prequel. I, like most fans of the long-running CBS flagship series, thought Gibbs was the best during the character's tenure. To be honest, I still miss the original poster character from NCIS, even after Harmon left in season 19, and Gary Cole has done a fantastic job as the new MCRT leader, Alden Parker. That should have been resolved by NCIS: Origins, but it hasn't.
Although the NCIS franchise has been producing spinoffs for over ten years, Harmon's most recent project is the first. NCIS: Origins tackles Gibbs' early years in NIS as a member of Mike Franks' motley crew in Camp Pendleton, extending the universe by reflecting on its past. Although I was skeptical that the show would be forced to recast the role, the premise seemed promising. Although Austin Stowell performs admirably, Harmon will always be associated with the part. However, this problem is exacerbated by a different casting decision in the show.
