We have to use the term 'Palestinian' for what it really is an Islamic political version of Nazism. Like Hitler invented the Nazi identity, Arafat invented the 'Palestinian' identity.
@rsr789 The link between all modern Jews and the Iron Age population of Jews is invented by the Zionists. The link between a resistance movement to the Nazis is laughable (feel free to look up the Stern Gang if you're interested). When Gaza opens up, we'll know who the real Nazis are.
@rsr789 yes it is unavoidable in many situations but in others is gives unwarranted legitimacy and is often used anachronisticly for times before the British Mandate. As the use of occupation of the West Bank delegitimises the right of Jews to live on their native homeland.

That's what we are doing now, and that's what we will be doing in 1000 years from now. So don't lose hope - this is who you are, this is who we are. Actually until Cromwell in the 1650s, Britain was a cesspool of anti-Semitism for at least 400 years. It was not until the early 1700s when the British decided to even have significant numbers of Jews in London. But Oliver Cromwell did turn the tide of darkness toward decency to his great credit.

My only wee criticism, around 5740 Jonathan says of course we should let in aid trucks. It's not an "of course", it's generous of Israel to do such a thing which is unprecedented in modern warfare and does not hold Egypt as a partner in peace accountable nor the United States.
I agree. Israel lets aid into Gaza probably because of international pressure and is, surprise surprise!, still being accused of not letting in enough aid. Meanwhile, hamas takes that aid and sells it, which most likely prolonges the war.
Well one thing I don't like is great bias on either side And as a Jewish , Israeli, combat reservist I'm clearly on one side. But Israel can't claim they aren't obligated to provide AID to a ln enemy When they are in fact controlling the borders of that piece of land and that includes the Egyptian border. So yes Israel must provide or let the supplies come through What this horrible government failed to achieve is to put in a civil power that will take control out of the hands of Hamas . For the benefit of the Gazans and for the benefit of the IDF soldiers who keep fighting in circles fighting leaving an area then going back to fight again and again
@@eden5260 Israel is certainly NOT obligated to give aid to the Palestinians hence it's down to the international aid agencies to stop the starvation of people you Israelis regard as inferior and not just because they aren't Jewish.
It's a blatant lie that Israel doesn't let aid trucks in - or not enough of trucks. Gaza gets more than enough - much more than it got before Oct. 7/23. There is a problem with Hamas thugs stealing much of the aid - and then spreads lies of insufficient aid. This is one of the propaganda weapons at villifying Israel.

The problem with Einat's argument at around 48:20 is that being “a loser” has become a virtue in our times via the oppressor v. oppressed dichotomy that academics and opportunistic power-mongers have latched on to. It's the perfect unifying theory for those with an inferiority complex.

Not a criticism of the debate at all, but somehow Israel and its ‘frenemies’ in the Middle East and West need to bring about a situation where pressure can put on the UN to resolve the Palestinian eternal refugee issue that the UN itself created. Also the alliance needs to resolve this issue, as it is a problem for all the regimes in the Middle East and Africa. Pressure will need to be kept up on Iran and re- education of Palestinians is a priority. The current situation of hostilities cannot continue.
The so-called "Palestinians" to begin with. The "Palestinian cause" was invented by the Soviet KGB from mod-1960s. To solve the problem the UN should've long gone back to where/when it originated: in 1948, by various counts, from 350,000 to 750,000 Arabs left their homes in what had just been proclaimed as the State of Israel - listening to the calls of the Arab leadership to "give operational freedom" to the Arab armies of 5 Arab invading states - to return after they would "throw the Jews into the sea." Israel was not defeated by the invading armies, some of the original refugees returned, but the majority didn't. In 1948-50 about 850,000 Jews were forced by Arab pressure and atrocities to leave their homes (leaving everything behind) in Arab nations (Egypt, Morocco, Iraq, Syria, Yemen) and seek refuge in Israel. None of them claimed "refugee" status, becoming Israeli citizens. In post-WWII years that looked like one of the many "population exchanges," which were taking place in Europe and in the Far East -- with not a single perpetual "refugee" group left. Middle-Eastern Jews now comprise min. 60% of the population of Israel. Why not recognize it ex post facto as a post-WWII period "population exchange" and resettle the so-called "Palestinians in the neighboring Arab countries, none of which is as densely populated as Israel.
After all we have learned about closed minds of university students and their years-long indoctrination -- especially in the UK -- is simply amazing that Jonathan Sacerdoti would think he could change their minds. The way I see it, he's lucky they didn't kill him on the spot. Oxford is a place where young mostly British people go to learn how the world works, who runs it and why keeping it that way is so important, no matter how awful it is. Imagine if Canada took a significant portion of U.S. territory, controlling resources and restricting the movement of Americans, all while justifying it as “security measures.” If Americans resisted, even through violence, would they be considered “terrorists,” or would they be seen as reacting to an unjust occupation? This is not to justify violence but to highlight the context. Just as Americans would likely react under similar circumstances, Palestinians are reacting to decades of occupation and systemic oppression. It’s critical to view the situation through a lens of cause and effect rather than isolating actions from their historical and political context.
Your example with Canada and America is absolutely incorrect. But imagine if the Americans, instead of building their own state, continued to attack Canada, commit terrorist attacks in kindergartens and discos, and then complained about oppression?
@ Thank you for your comment. While I understand the perspective you’re presenting, I would argue that the root of the issue lies not in a lack of recognition, but in a broader context of systemic inequalities and violations of human rights. Palestinians face significant challenges, including restricted freedom of movement, limited access to basic resources such as water, and the demolition of homes. These realities stem from decades of military occupation, not merely from a political disagreement over recognition. Additionally, many Palestinian leaders, such as the Palestinian Authority, have officially recognized Israel in agreements like the Oslo Accords. Yet, despite this, the situation on the ground has not improved for many Palestinians, suggesting that the issue is far more complex than recognition alone. Ultimately, achieving peace requires addressing the asymmetry of power and ensuring equal rights and dignity for all people in the region. Without resolving these fundamental inequalities, it’s challenging to move towards a sustainable and just resolution.

Anti Zionism is just. Israel was never the just solution to the atrocities against Europe's Jews.
The debate was a mockery of what the debate should be. Britain is not even a shadow of her former self. Tragic.

But I realized during this war how Israel is being pressured and bullied and how our western leaders and media are complicit in this, and I cannot begin to express how frustrated I am. To say it is unfair would be an understatement. I wish Israel all the strength in the world to get through this. From Germany - and our leaders and media are by no means better than other european media, sadly.
You have skin in the game. From Christmas markets to Grooming gangs, you are next.
I know, right? All the pressure is on Israel, not on Hamas, not on Qatar for funding and hosting the H. leaders, not on Egypt, which borders in Gaza, but solely on the state that was attacked. The world has gone crazy!
Totally agree with this assessment. 👍🏻

As if israel has a say in the matter. Damn biden clearly stated that without that aid to the terrorist we will get no bombs from the US
Well one thing I don't like is great bias on either side
And as a Jewish , Israeli, combat reservist I'm clearly on one side.
But Israel can't claim they aren't obligated to provide AID to a ln enemy
When they are in fact controlling the borders of that piece of land and that includes the Egyptian border.
So yes Israel must provide or let the supplies come through
What this horrible government failed to achieve is to put in a civil power that will take control out of the hands of Hamas .

In fact, it is at schools like Oxford, Harvard, Columbia, Cambridge, etc., that students have gone for generations to get their entitlement certificates. Dear Jonathan, stop wasting your time on these people at these venues. Their minds are not open and eager to explore possibilities. They couldn't care less about hearing the "other side". They live on a hamster wheel. The good thing though is that the world is changing, and they are only in control if we allow it.

Palestinians suffer not from occupation, but from the fact that they do not recognize Israel's right to exist. Do you think so too?
Do you, like the jihadists, not recognize Israel's right to exist?
