I'm a grandma now. I've been listening to Stryper since I was a teenager. You're aging like a fine wine in tune with the New Wine. Rock on! God bless everyone!
I used to make fun of them when growing up! Because I was a black and death metallist! But now as a Christian "praise God" I found they are definitely one of the best metal bands Christian or not! It's amazing how God can open a closed mind!
I am into total metal, Ozzy, Dio, Stryper, Skillet, Jimi when my daughter asked me to take her to a Christian concert. My mind and ears have now changed for King and Country, Tauren Wells, Toby Mac, Colton Dixon, Lauren Daigle etc etc And I still am keeping my metal bands and Christianity 🤟
I grew up as a local drummer in the 80s.....I would have LOVED to do some Stryper, but alas....out voted or no singer that could even come close...! Here it is 2022 and I'd LOVE to do a striper tribute.
MICHAEL SWEET. GOD BLESS YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE. WAS 1985 WHEN I MEET JESUS AND I BEGAN TO HEAR CHRISTIAN ROCK. AND 30 YEARS LATER YOU ARE HERE. AMAZING!!. MEXICAN FAN
The first song I heard from Stryper was “Calling on you” I was 14. I thought “This is different but pretty cool” I didn’t understand too much about God but I knew there was one. Heavy metal was on the rise and I was head banging and starting my collection. Now I’m in my late 40’s and was born again 22 years ago. I’m glad Stryper is still spreading the message and that true Christian metal can live through them. Keep it rockin guys!!!
I'm 49 years old now and never get tired of hearing their sound. On days Im feeling lost and confused I turn on Spotify or Pandora play some Stryper and Im back home again, thank you.
I'm 56 years now and started listening to Stryper from their first album release, yellow and black attack, 1984. I was a sophomore in high school, 17 years old, a long, long time ago, lol. I was ridiculed by some classmates who were metal heads because I listened to Stryper but I didn't care. I needed good music that carried a message of truth and positiveness to help carry me through rough times. Fast forward 40 years later and look who's right there with us, Stryper! Of the 80's metal era, very few of the other bands are still together rocking, producing albums and touring today like Stryper is. Simply amazing I have to say!!
Lovin' it!! It's nice to know that everything we worked so hard to build up in the eighties was not in vain!!!! This one is blowing the roof off!! Thanks Frontiers for believing and promoting this stellar band who has been out there for 30 years...
Tunewisely I like Petra bettter but everything they produced between Wake up call and Jekyll and Hyde is lame. Too bad the band went down, John lost his high registers, Bob lost his guitar solos but gained tonnes of rythm. I just like the freedom these guys have to just rock out uninhibited.
I don't think you meant it as such, but the term "hair band" implies a band that had no real substance or longevity. Some bands who came up in the 80s were playing on the fads of long hair, make-up, loud clothes, etc. But some bands were great then and now .. they just happened to have long hair, which was the style then...
My Wife and I met Stryper in 86 "To hell with devil tour" our son was with us,he was like 1yr old. He is 35 now! Still listening to Stryper. God bless!
Sooooooooooooooo great!!! Wow!! It just keeps coming! Whatever your genre you have to appreciate the quality of material these guys are putting out there. Proud to be a Stryper fan NOW more than ever!!!
I was searching Boston, and came across Michael Sweet and Stryper. I remember them, but I never gave them credit. I’m giving them another chance. I’m glad I am.
It's great to see that Stryper is in top form, and that Michael Sweet has not lost a step vocally. And more importantly, Robert Sweet has luxurious hair.
In '89 I literally ran into these guys on a elevator at GMA week. I was only 16 but I loved these rockers even then. I'm So glad theyre still killin it!
Getting to do what you love to do for 30+ years, and continuing to do it with skill and integrity, how cool is that? When I first started listening to Stryper in the 80's they were the ONLY heavy metal band with a Christian message.
There were christian metal bands before them: Daniel Band, Barnabas, Philadelphia... But certainly Stryper was the first commercially viable heavy metal band.
Jonathan Kohns In the earlly 1980's there was "Rez Band" (Resurrection Band) on Cornerstone Records and one of the PIONEERS in Christian Rock; 2nd Chapter of Acts from the '70s... then Amy Grant (and who can forget that before they made shorefall right here in the US, U2 was originally distributed by the Christian "Underground" out of Chigaco... "Jesus People USA") These were all very actively touring LONG before Stryper burst in on the scene... oh, I almost forgot Whitecross and Petra... these were also LONG before Stryper.
His voice is still great!! Many singers have lost it over the years! Metal is not easy on the vocal cords! His voice is still strong! They remind me of Dokken in a way. the cord progressions and so forth. Rock on and God Bless!!
mrmopar5 Staying in great shape and clean living also has a lot to do with it (no smoking, drinking, drugs, etc.). They don't do too much touring and when they do he doesn't do the aggressive back-to-back-to-back shows. He always has at least a few days (sometimes much longer) to rest between live shows. That really helps too. Saying that, his voice really is a miracle of nature to a large extent. Don Dokken is 12 years older than Michael but his voice has been toast for years. He started falling off in the 90's and it is totally gone now. All of Dokken's new stuff is several steps lower and auto-tuned to death. Seeing him live is a total mess these days. Being fair, Dokken has done probably hundreds more live shows over the course of his career than Stryper has. The only time Stryper was a heavy touring band was back in the late 80's supporting To Hell With The Devil and In God We Trust...the big MTV years. Most singers change their range or start using more falsetto as they get older. Michael has amazing range and power and can still sing all of the songs in their original keys. See him live now and he will blow you away.
Right you are Sir! His talent is there to be sure! A lot of 80's singers have lost it. Paul Stanley of Kiss has really lost it. But to be fair, touring and age play a part also. For Michael, He has pressed on with the death of his wife due to cancer. Give him a lot of credit and he sings for the Lord. You can see it is in his heart!
Absolutely LOVE this song! I can never get tired of listening to Stryper, but so excited about the new album. I've been playing it all day. No matter how crappy my day may go or how bad I feel, Stryper's music always boosts my mood. God has truly blessed them with an amazing gift and I feel very glad that they're sharing it with the world. Hoping they come back to Boise, Idaho, or close, on their tour for this album.
I feel the same way you do. I haven't seen them in concert, since 1990 when they were at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax(Virginia). Every time I hear 'Honestly', I cry like a baby. I don't know why. It just gets' to me every time. I can see them at the Patriot Center, DAR Constitution Hall in DC(where I saw them in 1988), or the Capital Center in Landover(Maryland). Providing they come to the region again.
Even us Anti-theist can dig Stryper...true power metal... and Robert is a powerhouse... been with Stryper since 1988,,, still rock the bells.... Also Michael was hanging out with King Diamond recently...
I saw Michael do an acoustic show at a small BBQ restaurant here in Indiana a few years ago, still frickin awesome!! Dude still has some serious pipes!!!
Saw you guys in the 80's and again a few years ago in Las Vegas. You guys still give an amazing performance and follow the Lord. Thanks for the years and memories!
My dad use to play this ALL the time when I was a kid. I just remember it randomly but could never remember the name. It's a core song that links my memories all together.
Personally I like it better now as his vocal sweet spot (center) has dropped a couple notes downward but still maintaining the outstanding clarity that he's renowned for.
They just get better with age, which is amazing. Saw them live a few years back and couldn't believe how Michael still belts it out. What an amazing group, love you guys!
When I was in Jr High and High School, some of my friends really loved Stryper and were like "Stryper this and Stryper that". I now realize that Stryper has always been cool, and I like listening to their current music as well as the old.

Oh Yeah! and wow I must be getting old. Been listening near 30 years now. Stryper is one of my favorites without a doubt. I love the vocal and guitar harmonies. I really like seeing Stryper doing their own songs too. Keep up the great work guys!

But you keep pushing the envelope, taking chances and risks, and pushing forward with your talent and your music. Stryper is such an underrated band by the press and by many others. Stryper had a huge influence on my when I was much younger. I stopped listening when they did Against the Law. This song sounds just ok and after reading the lyrics it seems that the Gospel is well hidden here. Please take a chance and do an album that conveys the Gospel out in the open where we can easily hear the message is about Jesus.
Absolute shame that TG decided to take things to where he did, but I pray he heals inside. In the meantime, Perry is crushing it and it sounds amazing live!
On top of STILL being in top form musically, with the ALL-ORIGINAL LINEUP still intact after 30 years, you can tell these boys have stood by their faith in god all these years, not falling prey to the Rock & Roll excesses of the day, and taking very good care of themselves. Dudes look like they've barely AGED at all. LOVE this track!
for an 80's Metal band to come out with a Rocking CD like this is impressive, the New Stryper cd is Good! I wish more of the 80's bands that I liked would do the same thing.
As a non-Christian. I enjoy Stryper. Not only for their message, but also for their steadfastness. I find myself singing their songs whether their Christian or God based without doubt or remorse. Funnily enough, this song is one of my new favorites, but More than a man and makes me wanna sing are my top two. Jesus songs, I know, but they rock!! I'm not a Christian, never will be... but Stryper is the rock that makes me roll.
Wow! Michael Sweet is still a kick ass vocalist and guitar player. And the rest of the band perform great. A fresh no bullshit heavy music from real talented guys. These guys ROOOCK!
Boys and girls..Stryper simply know the recipe for that pure heavy and at the same time melodic rock sound...they're craftsmen in what they play..accept it !!!!..thumbs up !!!!
This whole album is simply amazing!!! Mike, Tim, Oz and Robert, you guys out did yourselves this time around. I have to admit, my personal favorite is Water into Wine, that song is a wonderful throwback to 80's metal with a Christian message.
Boys still rock....helping keep the 80s alive. Thank god most of the best bands of the 80s were so young at the time....they can keep rocking for many more years to come.
This album DESERVES album of the year! BY A LANDSLIDE! I have never , in all my life, saw a band, come back at these guys ages, and be BETTER than they were in their "HEY-DAY"........ They are clearly so far above (musicianship 'wise' . production 'wise', & especially 'attitude wise' , any band out there.) After all they have been through, to remain 'humble', and inter-act with fans the way they do, ('Live', only a few bands, maybe 'Iron Maiden' , and a handful of others are in the same stratosphere as Stryper. 18 times, and I stopped counting, I NEVER saw an "average" or "sub-par" show. I will be there June 12th (here in Pittsburgh), to see these guys. {@ Matt Gibson- Stryper is back, & they are "All that & a wall of Marshalls!" The down side about "No More Hell To Pay, it will be SO SO hard, to make a 'better' record. I'm so grateful Stryper did not just fade into obscurity. Happy times for Black & Yellow fans! Rockin' The World again!
Excellent Job and harmonies and all the musical instruments... immediately took me back to 1987 or 1988.... oh, the memories of Stryper then and now...also enjoying Jesus Is Just Alright. :)
Styper is a Christian group they rock for the king of kings and lord of Lords
I'm a grandma now. I've been listening to Stryper since I was a teenager. You're aging like a fine wine in tune with the New Wine. Rock on! God bless everyone!

Dude, Michael's voice still sounds amazing! Michael, thank you so much for taking such good care of your voice all these years! What a blessing!
Go see them live now on their current tour. The best and now is the time. Who knows how many more tours they will do.
Two of the MOST underrated guitar players, in any genre of music.... IMO.
+Paul Meier "Petra" Great band!
Nice guitar work on this one.
Bob Hartman isn't flashy or attention seeking, which is probably why he's often overlooked.
And Oz Fox actually had an incredible voice too. He could EASILY be a lead singer in any band. And live, he is INCREDIBLE.
The write BETTER solos than ANYONE!,.PERIOD,.,The whole CD,.Unreal!

Stryper, very simply, are one of the greatest American hard rock bands ever. Their longevity is amazing & they just get better. Hail Stryper.

What a great song, Christian heavy metal at its best Stryper is a great band what a great guitar solo and good drummer
Agreed, all of them have matured as musicians over the past 40 years including Robert Sweet the drummer.
I didn't know those guys. Great sound and incredible singer.

I am blind but I just want to see
Hearts degrading, mercies fading x2
As hearts degrade
Can I find some sympathy?
As mercy fades
I am blind but I just want to see
Sympathy is...underated!...STRYPER FOREVER
This is just a great band
Keep rockin' for the One who is the Rock! Awesome jobs, guys!!!
In God We Trust
This song is one if their best!
Michael's voice flawless as always. LOVING TG's Overture Bass! Guitar solos superb. Did I expect less from you guys? 'course not! #STRYPERRULES
Stryper rocks... Tim will be missed.
Unbelievable....Stryper is just like wine, gets better with age! Keep on rockin' for The Man!
I love the bass lines in every song . God bless them
As a non-Christian.
These guys ROOOCK!
yeah you got that one hundred percent accurate!!!
Steev Rawjers thanks bro!
Uno de los pocos cantantes del metal 80' que aún conservan su tono de voz magnífica
Felicidades a la agrupación strayper
At 46 soon 47 I'm Still Jammin' to STRYPER since first seen thier video in 1988' n hooked to them jams now 2014. Stryper ROCKS!
May have been hard to comprhend them making a better record UNTIL God Damn Evil came out. Their best yet. They keep gettin better.
God is with you Michael and to all the members of the band. Take care, God bless you all.
Excellent Job and harmonies and all the musical instruments... immediately took me back to 1987 or 1988.... oh, the memories of Stryper then and now...also enjoying Jesus Is Just Alright. :)
This is the new Stryper. Harder n louder. I love it
