    hi, which is the distance between the keyboard bed and the bass and treble strings?

    I think looking at the gauge it shows 7 & 5/8ths of an inch?

    isn't the difference in height due to the lower strings being wrapped by thicker and thicker copper wire? I'd imagine the string heights being more of a stair step than a uniform slope

      No, the bass strings are higher because they have to go up over the treble strings. So the height of the pressure bar for the bass strings and the height of the bass bridge is higher than it is for the other strings.

    I am still confused by this video. The tool being used to measure has part of a ruler attached but it starts at 6"? That doesn't make sense to me as the part below the ruler down to the keybed is obviously not 6". Are you measuring the complete distance from the keybed to the bottom of the strings?

      Yes, the tool is measuring from the key bed to the bottom of the strings.
