I very much liked the increased shiny chance to the lvl where it takes a few hours, on average, to get an encounter. Makes it a conscious choice at which routes you want to try and get a pokemon :D Could make it a factor 2 higher (but then maybe ban Gyarados because he's OP)
It's cool when people do normal odds shiny runs but likewise it's no big deal when they don't. Best to state the odds upfront though so everyone knows the score, whether it's in 8200, 4100, 2050, 1025, 512, 256 etc.
Twig: says rattata was a shiny they didnt want to see. Me a person who's first ever wild pokemon encounter was a shiny rattata in soulsilver and I didnt have pokeball yet: thats illegal!

Really sweet vid if anyone else wants to try this run I recommend the cute charm glitch, it’s a little complicated but can be done legitimately on a ds cart and gives much better shiny odds (around 1/4 for female Pokémon.)
I have heard about that glitch, and it honestly depends on what gender Pokémon you are looking for. The odds are the same for each (if I'm not mistaken) so you could, in theory, go for specific evolution paths ahead of time like Vespiquen, Gallade, Wormadam/Mothim, or Froslass in DPPt and the Nidoran lines in HGSS
Actually, you lock yourself to one singular gender by using cute charm If you have a male lead you'll only get female shinies (if you get males it's likely full odds)
I couldn’t agree more! I have so many fond memories of this game but the weird level curve among other things really make nuzlocking the game super tedious lol

I liked this video good content. My advice would be to add some suspense in the close moments. When emeralds nearly died in the first gym fight you told us he survived the gust before he’d even been hit. If you delay it we can see the action and feel the suspense better. Always hard on a post commentary but something to think about. Keep up the hard work bro
I was looking to try to find a way to increase the shiny rates in my heart gold but couldnt find anything on how to do it. Do you use a specific rom on an emulator or do you use an action replay on a hard coppy of the game?

I know a year late and not sure if youve found out since but the reason why Lances dragonite survived that ice shard was because of its ability multiscale which reduces damage on an attack while its at full health
