    I love how you show everything. Even hooking up the trailer in the beginning. Being a beginner, seeing everything is so valuable to me! And of course, Fame is just stunning! I also appreciate your chill vibe. Thanks so much!

    What a lot I learned from you! You are a fantastic teacher! I've only just ridden on other people's horses so far in riding lessons, all different breeds, and I find I am a draft horse fanatic. Well, I love all horse breeds, but I can't get enough of the feathered feet. 😊 Thank you.

    Happy birthday Fame!! Great video! I probably would have panicked when he tried to chase the cyclist down. Horses have impeccable memory! You handled it very well. Kudos! He’s a gorgeous boy! 💙🐴❣️

    I just found your channel and am loving both you and Fame!! It’s so refreshing to watch you trail ride and have adventures together, I’m also in awe at how well he responds to your voice cues, as soon as you pull out the “hooo” he’s like yes mom I’m sorry 😳 And the fact he chases bikes is so funny and cute but must also be a bit scary for you!! It’s my dream to own a draught for trail riding when I’m older and I’m so happy I found you guys 💛

    Definitely need more people to try riding drafts. Don't know how drum horses are as I never rode one, but shires are very comfortable to ride compared to random horses in stables

    Awesome ride, thanks so much for sharing! My wife and I are considering a purchase of 8 gorgeous acres in the Pac NW. I did a lot of work when I was younger on Dairy and Beef Farms but never got the opportunity to work with horses, I can’t wait to see if our dream becomes a reality. Trail Riding and Horse Packing is probably my absolute favorite thing I’m looking forward to!

    Hi I love your shows I just started watching today matter fact? And then I heard you on this video saying you were in the bay area, and I was wondering what part of the bay area it was this like far east bay towards Pleasant Ville or Walnut Creek or Gilroy AnyWho I‘s live in the Monterey Bay area over towards Aptos in this area looks really nice for that you’re riding at

    • @HappieronaHorse
      @HappieronaHorse  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The snuff is basically a release of tension, so I’m praising him for relaxing. ☺️

    Remember sometimes going around something sideways isn't a refusal or a spook a lot of times it is just the horse trying to put a scary object in the center of their vision on that side so they can figure out what it is.

    Hey just wondering what kind of bridle and bit do you use? I have a Percheron who seems to have similar trail riding behaviors but I am having some issues with control in a regular eggbut snaffle (especially while turning) and your set up seems to work well so I'd love to know what you use and maybe try it out.

    • @HappieronaHorse
      @HappieronaHorse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have him in a custom headstall. We’re riding in a Myler bit here, #36 mouthpiece. I reached out to them directly and answered their questionnaire and Dale Myler responded with the exact mouthpiece and shank combo he recommended for our situation. Might be worth a try for your Percheron!

    I’ve never seen you get on before. Who taught you to do everything from the right side? Interesting.

    • @littlebitofhope1489
      @littlebitofhope1489 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      She dismounted from the near side. It appears the horse is trained to mount/dismount from either side. It is possible that she is self taught or that trainers are ignoring that “rule” since not many ride with swords strapped to them anymore. More concerning to me was that she walked off from a fresh horse. No matter how well trained (and this horse is NOT advanced) that is a great way to have a long walk at best and get your horse killed at worst. I have personally seen well trained seasoned trail horses get killed because their owners were positive that their horses wouldn’t move. They were sadly wrong.

    • @richardrubert9698
      @richardrubert9698 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@littlebitofhope1489 it wasn’t a complaint, but a surprising observation. Yes, traditionally you do everything from the left. But all my horses are trained to let someone on or off on either side. Buy we live where it is very mountainous and it’s required often. But I have to agree that I always tie my horses off, just in case. If Fame is that ground tie trained, good for her.

    • @HappieronaHorse
      @HappieronaHorse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Richard, yes for various reasons I like teaching him to accept mounting/dismounting on either side. Plus I find it helps keep me strong on both sides 🤠 Fame is ground tied trained. 👍🏼

  • @suzyamerica4679
    @suzyamerica4679 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Silly question - it seemed like he was spooked easily by a bicycle. Is it just a matter of training the horse to be OK with [whatever] when it comes to new things like that? Do you ever hear of people training their horses to be OK around motorcycles and people riding them? They tell us to take off our helmets so the horses can see us as people and not weird aliens.

    • @HappieronaHorse
      @HappieronaHorse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes he was mostly bothered by the sound and the rear approach with not being able to see him. Usually when we meet bicycles on wider trails they pass with zero issue. A lot of it for him is improved with training and frequent exposure. Horses can be trained to be “traffic safe” with tolerance for motor vehicles to varying degrees. Yeah I can see the logic with the helmet thing. For my guy the noise would be the biggest issue I think.

    • @suzyamerica4679
      @suzyamerica4679 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HappieronaHorse What us motorcyclists are told to do, if we encounter horses, is to shut the engine off and remove our helmets and let them pass at their own pace. But now I know some horse people who also keep dirt bikes on their farms for getting around, so I wonder if that too is a matter of getting them used to things.

    • @HappieronaHorse
      @HappieronaHorse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think that protocol is very helpful and respectful for a lot of equestrians, Im sure people really appreciate that you do that - I know I would! 👍🏼
      Yeah when it’s on your property I’m sure it’s convenience combined with the added benefit of desensitizing the horses. 🤠

    • @iflybab

      When I was a teenager, we had a motorcycle clubhouse a mile or so down our country road for the local riders (nothing like Hell's Angels!!). I used to ride my quarter horse down there to hang out. For fun, sometimes we would race one of the bikers for a short distance just to see who could get off the line faster. My horse loved to run more than anything in the world. To him, it seemed the motorcycles were nothing more than strange looking, noisy horses.
