      I love Brasil. The people here make me free good. I went to the Dentist this morning. The Receptionist kissed me and the Dentist hugged. That made my day. That woukd never happen in the States. I love people here. The women are gorgeous and fit. Got three traffic tickets. Not sure how. I pay attention when driving. Crazy! Joey you are dead correct. I will return to the States to visit my kids for 2 weeks but returning to Brasil immediately after. I love it here despite some of the Cons that Joey mentioned. Once you visit Brasil you'll never be the same. Brasilians are wonderful people

    Hi, Joey! I am from Romania and I am in medical school now. Last summer I went to Brazil for a month with an exchange. I think I am in the same situation you were 5 years ago, I keep dreaming of the day I'll move there! Until now I was thinking that maybe that is a bit unrealistic, but your video gave me the proof that this is not impossible and made me think more seriously about it! I am happy that you are leaving your dream there and wish you the best! Thank you for inspiring me :)

    This is an excellent video about Brazil, but if I must, I'd like to show my personal view of Brazil. I'm Brazilian and I live in a small town inside of Bahia. So the pros of Brazil in my point of view are:
    - Brazil is a beautiful place, everywhere you go, you'll find nature, beaches, water fountains, nice places to eat with an amazing food variety. Brazil is also a rich source of natural food and resources for industry. Because of the good climate and the happy people. Just so you know, here where I live, we can plant almost any fruit tree/plant and it will surely grow, except for grapes and other plants that require a cold temperature, I'm growing strawberries in my yard and I'm not using any type of chemical potion for it, it's growing naturally. Music is kind of 1/4 good, we have good singers and bands and their song's lyrics are amazing.
    Now I wanna talk about the cons of Brazil in my point of view:
    As you said, security isn't a good thing about Brazil and this is true, you can notice by the bars we put in front of our houses and the big walls surrounding them. Robbery and killing is a serious problem in this country and since I'm not in the rich class, I can spend weeks telling stories of crimes. Political corruption is the main problem, it's the source of all problems that comes within, including security. Since the republic was born, Brazil has never been an organized and true country, politics are almost all corrupt, sometimes not because they want to, but because they have to, which doesn't justify the act but it's kinda reality. We pay a lot of high taxes and this money isn't invested on the people, everybody knows it but nobody can do something about it because, well, it's complicated, I won't go further on this 'cuz this involves history and politics. Now let's talk about education, education in Brazil is just poor and full of bullshits, they pass people even though they haven't learned what they were supposed to, we have a high number of people that doesn't speak well, doesn't write well and their minds are closed to learn. Ignorance took part of Brazil because the schools are graduating unprepared people. This week my brother got a Math test which didn't have any math, but history and geography subject and they call it a new way of learning. Universities now are full of smokers, drunk, sex and God knows what else, all but not studying. Music is going down on its lyrics. We have security, educational, political and cultural problems and I don't see this being solved in a hundred of years.
    I don't blame any foreigner people who come to Brazil and gets amazed by it, it's really a beautiful country for visitors, but when you're born here in a non-rich family, you find yourself in a place where everything is difficult, everything is always messed up because there aren't much opportunities, politicians are always f***ing with us, unemployment and I'm not even talking about those who live in the RJ's favelas. I'm done for now but that's a non-rich Brazilian's point of view, I hope nobody got offended by this. I love my country even though I wish to live in another one, but our leaders are driving it wrong.

    Glad I'm not wrong trying to persude my family to go to Brazil. I'm thinking of renting somewhere for a couple of months since I have been coming regularly for the past 4 years now that i'm semi- retired. I want to try living there for an extended time from January to March when the weather in the UK is very cold. Any advice?

    • @joeydelfino448
      @joeydelfino448  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couple of things. I love brazil and I dont plan on leaving for a while, but I'm single. If you have a family brazil can become very expensive very fast. Public schools are not good so you have to pay for private schools and there expensive. If you have a way of making a good living here then brazil is an amazing place. But if you cant make a good living here it's still amazing, you just have to live a more simple life cause brazil is not a cheap place. If you are planning on traveling for vacation then heck yes! Its one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. January to March is definitely doable and I think you guys would love it. Especially if you have the british pound. It goes really far here. January and February are the best months to be in brazil too because everyone is on holiday and more relaxed. Just donreseatch on which cities suit your needs. Any questions just send me a message

    Hi Joey, I am a Brazilian living in your country. Thanks for being so kind to Brazil. I think it is much worse than you painted it. Corruption and violence are out of control in the country. I am from Rio de Janeiro, and there, violence is everywhere, not to mention that Rio Ex-Governor is in jail for stealing. He will probably die in jail if he is not able to "buy" judges and prosecutors (They are greedy and cheap in Brazil) to get him out. Hope you have a good time in Brazil and your life there is free from major problems.

    • @joeydelfino448
      @joeydelfino448  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey thank you for your feedback! Yes, I made that video a while ago. I still believe that violence and crime is a problem here, but it's not bad everywhere. Brazil is a big country. Rio is much worse than Belo horizonte for example. I live a peaceful life here. But it is a problem I'm Brasil.

      I guess Americans never imagined things were so bad in the US. Look at it now -- it is everything Brazil is and then some -- cheating, lying, betrayal of a country, FAKE news, FAKE votes, the DECEASED voting, a clear attempt of a coup to debunk the current government for the past 4 years and continuing, homelessness, business and jobs disappearing, the people more and more in need of handouts from government.

    I’ve met plenty of Brazilians who don’t cook lol, none the less I agree with you the food is bomb! Living in BH kinda sucks , not a whole lot to do here, so many beautiful places outside it though . I do think Brazilians are afraid of their shadows , they live in waaay to much fear , I had someone tell me that a city I. Just had been in was so dangerous , I told them well I just spent a whole week there and it was very safe , but they kept in insisting and they have never even been . I think ignorance is the problem . We also have a million tickets thanks to the lovely cameras . Super chill is nice except when your in shit unairconditioned grocery store

      @joeydelfino448  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree! I made that video ages ago, my view has changed somewhat. But I agree that they are afraid of their shadows. There is just so much misinformation. I did read an article also saying that Brazilians are at the top of the list in the world for people that receive the most negative news from news outlets. This definitely feeds into the paranoia.

    In the sense of questions I would ask I can only find those from months ago unless I’m bad lol, but wanted to ask some things cause I’m curious as I may join my gf in a few years.
    1) how is the corruption now? Has it been getting better? How extensive is it and impactful on everyone’s lives?
    2) Been seeing a lot of talk from Brazilians of an economic crisis that has been pretty bad but slowly been getting better, granted they’re from 2018 so idk how correct it is now, what would you say? Is it getting better?
    3) May tie in with the last one but cost of living seems to be another massive issue with private schooling and such, is it hard to live as middle class almost high class in Brazil? And how hard is it for people to achieve their dream careers? I honestly have heard nothing of that last one being an issue just thought of it.

      Hey thanks for the comment! Glad to help. So yeah corruption is still a problem, but it is definitely getting better because now everyone is aware of the problem and are fighting to fix it. In terms of the corruption effecting you, it's not really that apparent. Things just take longer for the government to get stuff done and funding for things like the public health care gets off. But I still thing the healthcare system is not bad here. Yes thencostvof living is very high here. Things are very expensive but o make a decent living and have a good life here. You just need to live more simply. Like incant afford a new iPhone every year like I did in the usa but I'm ok with that simpler is better for me. Brazilians love to travel and so do I. I rather travel than buy new things. It won't be easy for you to find a good job here without portuguese. Only teaching english which is a good way to make a living sont get me wrong, but without Portuguese that's your only option. And yes private education (exceptnat the university level) isnthe best way to go, but its extremely expensive. Having kids here is not cheap. But if you can make dollars, pounds, or euros and live here then you will be living the good life here my friend. Hope that helped!

    The violence is very, very real, and if you have not experienced it yet, I'm sad to say it's probably only a matter of time. I lived in Brazil from 2005-2019. I was mugged twice, saw someone shot and killed right in front of me, and my wife (who is Brazilian) was robbed at gunpoint. No, violence should not define Brazil or Brazilians. But it is a fact of life in Brazil and anyone thinking of living in Brazil should not underestimate just how cheap the value of life is (for many) in Brazil.

      I made that video a long time ago, so my views have shifted a bit. I have still never experienced any problems though and I've been here for three years. I just know my city, I know where to go and where to avoid. I also know who I should associate with. When I travel to other parts of the country I ask people where I should avoid. Seems like this has worked for me. Thanks for the comment! My city is pretty safe also compared to other major metropolitan areas here.

      A violência no Brasil não é maior ou menor que outros países tido como desenvolvidos.morei em Londres e achei bem pesado!sofri assaltos no metrô.
      Vi espancamentos a luz do dia e pior!!!ninguém fazia nada!!!parecia que não estava acontecendo...todos passavam e nem olhavam,fiquei paralisada.Dentro do metrô com câmeras e acontecer isso??? e ninguém pode sair tranquilo a noite nos bairros londrinos.
      Ao menos no Brasil alguém se importa e faz alarde para chamar atenção.ou seja se importa com outro ser humano.
      O problema da violência no Brasil não passa por pobreza e sim.por falta de punições pesadas onde a maioria de países desenvolvidos defendem os "direitos dos manos"por todo mundo.
      Pessoas de países exatamente onde vc e sua esposa brasileira se refugiam fugindo da violência no Brasil.

    You are completely wrong about taxation and corruption in Brazil. In Brazil, overall taxation represents 34% of total GNP, basically the same of OECD countries (33%). The problem about taxation in Brazil is that the the poor are heavily taxed, not the rich and the high-middle class who obstruct every effort to change that iniquous regressive system.
    The public perception of the coruption problem (and to a lesser degree street violence too) is fairly exagerated because the mass- midia like to make scandalous headlines about it. Actually, corrupeted officials and politicians have no easy life because they are under constant surveillance from the midia (as mentioned), political enemies, and public persecutors. Unfortunately, private enterprises_ the actual corruptors and beneficiaries of corruptoin in most of the cases _ are not exposed and persecuted to the same degree.
    You are on political science and fluent in Portuguese nevertheless you replicate oversimplistic negative stereotypes about the countyry that are typical of the resentful right-wing oriented Brazilian middle class, that I assume is the kind of people you most socially interact with while in Brazil, that kind of people who pamper white foreigners while despise dark-skinned economic (Haitians) and political refugees (Africans). But there is a huge contry beyond the bubble, diversify your sources of information.
