My very first time using Joinery in woodworking.

  • This is my very first piece of furniture built using strictly joinery. I use a #Tusk #Tenon #Joint as well as some more traditional joinery to create this Japanese inspired chair / stool, also known as a contemplation stool. I am starting to fall in love with woodworking so I decided I wanted to create a chair strictly using wood. I used walnut and white oak. This chair will be entered into the builders challenge instagram woodworking contest.

Man that looks nice. Try wedged through tenons for your legs. You'll have a stronger joint, and an interesting feature in your seat top. If you're scared of splitting the tenon on your stretcher, go with the 3 to 1 ratio of your mortice to length exposed past the leg, or drill through the tenon across the grain, and glue a dowel in there to hold it all together. With all the lamination, you could use it as an excuse to make another contrasting timber selection.

How much do you charge for your coasters. I think that your work is AMAZING, but I'm unable to afford it right now, the next time you do something with that beautiful burl, red wood and other pieces that you can add in, I'd like some coasters. If it's affordable 10 would be great. I'm enjoying your vids so much. You're hilariously talented and you have beautiful children. I pray that you will have a bidding war over everything that you create, and it sells for more than you ask. Thank you and keep it coming.
