Depends where you were. For instance New York City, where breakdancing/B-boy/hip hop culture came from was 10 million times more dangerous in the 70's, 80's and 90's than today. Since then it's been turned into Disney Land compared to back then. Even places like Time Square was all pimps, prostitutes, drugs users and dealers, porn theaters. All the footage you see in this video of burned out buildings and empty lots filled with rubble, none of these places exist in NYC now. Took me back to the Boogie Down Bronx 7yrs old 1984. We watched the big kids breakin in the school yard on the cardboard. My cousin and I eventually got good and joined them on the cardboard. What a time to be a kid in NYC. Old school NY. You had to be there to understand.

Such a great time in history. When violence by gangs was dancing, breaking and popping against each other. Almost no gun shots, stabbings or even fist fights. If you had a problem, you solved it on the dance floor or on cardboard. I still remember my first pair of maroon Lee jeans and Adidas shoes with fat laces....miss those days...
