- We purchased this 2024 Can-Am defender HD 9DPS heated cab model off of moody sales in Mars PA. We have been doing multiple tests and reviews on this unit since we purchased it. This is the first time we put the payload bed capacity to the test. The manufacturer said 1000 pounds max we put 31 logs in the bed. It handled it with ease, however it didn’t make the front end light and being caught in the snow storm made it difficult to steer safely. I will leave three different links in the description one link will be the review of this model. The other link will be of Katia chopping down the cherry tree in the last link will be of the elevated wood splitting operation I came up with to eliminate the need of spending $8000 on a conveyor moving the firewood into IBC totes. We enjoy making upgrades to the property whether it's access roads, or installing large and small, barns, equipment, storage buildings, running heavy equipment, and giving a home to a miniature pony and miniature donkey. Looks like a nice solution for moving you and items around the property. Heated cab is a nice option for sure. I can't say what the weight was, but if your getting light steering I'd say I wouldn't add any more. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Mike

Thank you yes, my father got me the 661 right around Christmas and I haven’t used the husky much since then so I figured better get some fuel ran through it 🤣. I forgot how much I enjoy running it. Once I get a sharpened or new chain on it it will really be nice.👍

Hey Tom. I think you did the right thing, by not putting more wood on your canam. I take it the cherry was still quite wet. Only being a half mile make 2 trips. Or put a small trailer behind your canam. The husky worked well. Catch you later.

Hey Tom. Your Can-Am is so nice and the heated cab option is a blessing. I'd say 400 lbs. Maybe 450. I'm thinking if two men were sitting on the back how much would it drop.
Thanks Kenny👍 I told Josh I’m gonna take a scale back there and weigh one of the lungs take an average and see how much weight it really was. It handled it very well, but I was surprised how light the front end felt especially with having the weight of the full cabin enclosure over the front in the snow. I had a hard time steering the machine back to the barn.
That bending over will kill the back. My legs would definitely be in danger though

My guess is 500 lbs. It didn’t seem to squat the rear end very much. Nice machine.
Pickaroons are the best. I say that in my videos quite often. And I do the same as you. Use two pickaroons to move rounds. Easier on the back, faster and yes, you do need to watch your aim so you don’t get your leg. I have 4 pickaroons, all home made. Great tools. If you’re doing firewood, you need one of these. That’s my saying.
If that machine could be registered to run on the road ways, I’d consider one, once my truck is done.

The wood was pretty green so I would imagine I had to be up there in pounds. I’m gonna try to weigh one of the logs then times it by 31 see where it’s at.
@fatefarmspa yeah, they looked pretty heavy. I swear a couple of times I seen the machine squat with 1 block. 🤷

Haha. There is a fire department right over the hill from the property. I’d imagine it was probably from a fender bender. The snow came real quick ! I thought the same thing about a trailer, but Mumma said no more spending money 🤣
