I had considered doing a laser surgery for eyesight correction. But after seeing all these eye doctors wearing contact lenses themselves I think it’s probably a safer option. Can’t afford to lose my eyes.

Probably get paid commission to push the contact lenses, in the UK I haven’t came across one optician or eye doctor in lenses they all wear glasses - not soft. Lenses just dry your eyes out.
I had laser eye surgery (smile not lasik to prevent further dry eye) so I can stop wearing lenses and vision is great, better option than drying your eyes out with lenses

My optometrist says a lot people assume they won't need corrective vision. But told me that all of us will eventually need glasses whether it's for reading or becoming near sighted. And laser correction isn't for everyone because depending how consistent your eyes vision will stay the same prescription year to year. Also Doing laser correction may not be a good idea when you're older because your sight may be degrading faster when your older. So don't feel bad if you don't do laser correction. My optometrist recommended I should do it if I held the same prescription for at least 4 years or more in a row. But I think everyone's situation is different so ask your optometrist

I used to use the Oasis one day for years and ended up with such dry eyes from wearing lenses. This had never been a problem before. For me, if I could go back I wouldn’t even take the risk of wearing contacts I would stick to glasses as dry eyes are extremely difficult to live with

i used to wear lenses my whole life (15 years) and ended up having dry eyes since 2023. i really try to wear contacts once or twice a week but i need to put eye drops in when i wear them, i never knew that you can have chronic dry eyes from contacts, if i knew i never would’ve worn them that much, like daily.

I never knew this either, opticians don’t mention if the eyes get dry it’s a long term issue. You just assume once the lenses are out the dry eye will stop but it doesn’t. If you don’t already use it Flaxseed and omega 3 fish oil both in maximum strength is a game changer for dry eye relief

I have the rare and pretty unknown Cogan Syndrome, so my eyes are more than sensitive, after a few hours wearing contacts my eyes get really red and start burning, also I never manage to remove them without traumatizing the eyes (since I got the Cogan, it used to go smoothly back in yhe day). Any suggestions? Any magic contact lenses that fit my needs? Or should I just give up and wear glasses?

I’m pretty sure I’ve had dry-eye for years. Not sure how long, but regardless, I wore contacts when I was about 14 (17 years ago), and always had to dig around under my eyeball to fish out a strand of hair from my head that had stuck to my eye (or contact, i suppose) and “drifted” back to behind my eye, causing absolutely unbearable discomfort. I eventually ripped my contacts off and threw them on the ground in the middle of a funeral because they agitated me so badly, and consistently, and I never looked back.
Is anyone familiar with this issue, and know whether contacts these days have made strides in that regard? I wouldn’t mind giving them a shot again.

My left eye gets red a lot in the corner . About 5 months ago i had problems with my contacts the left eye. I tried drops and cleanings and bought new pairs and nothing helped the left eye feels impossible to keep them in and even if it doesn’t hurt it makes my whole left eye turn red.
I went to the eye doctor and asked if my tear ducts were messed up because that eye feels like it doesn’t get moisture because it quits hurting after putting drops but soon as the drops dried I couldn’t stand it. That just wetting my eye period somehow made it feel fine. But without my eye being wet I feel like I have a coin in my eye. She said no and prescribe me drops she said where very powerful and to not overdue. after 2 weeks my eye seemed sorta the same looking but alil whiter. I tried putting contacts in and no luck. I thought maybe eye needs more time to heal. Waited another month and no luck I even tried using the rest of the prescription drops that only seem to help redness.
Its been months now that I’m stuck in glasses because of this. I’m desperate for help because in my line of work I really need to be OUT of my glasses and back in contacts.

QUESTION: I have always resented my need for contacts since my eyes are on the dry side, but glasses hurt my face. So since I have to wear contacts, I like wearing colourful ones. How do Desio coloured contact lenses rank according to you? I would really appreciate a thorough review of their monthly and 3-monthly lenses, talking about water content and what not. (also a quick answer here would help as well)

    • @DrEyeGuy

I went dailies 6 weeks ago. This last weekend both of my eyes sufferered corneal abrasions upon removing the lenses. They'd been in about 17 hours. Eyes felt a little dry, but id experienced far drier in the past (been wearing over 30 years). No reason at all to think anything was awry.
Contacts came out easy and moments later, excruciating pain.
Went to doctor after half a day of no improvement, and after examining said that the contacts had torn part of my cornea.
