The wooden bicycles Carrerbikes are luxury goods that set an example of style and performance. Their beating heart is the exclusive wooden frame, available in four different types of wood, entirely handcrafted with the techniques usually used in the making of sail boats.
A wooden bike because it gives you a unique feeling Because wood is a living material that gives you lots of satisfaction and lends itself to any kind of processing.
Each piece is unique. Even from the same trunk, each piece is unique because the grain is not something printed but it is a natural thing that varies its beauty
Each bike has its own uniqueness, originality , and gives to each one of us different feelings either watching it or using it because, while running, a wooden bicycle gives you more positive feelings, it absorbs better the ground vibrations and makes you feel more in tune with it and with the surrounding environment
The idea behind Carrerbikes was born looking the construction of a wooden boat observing its forms and accepting the challenge of making a wood frame for a bicycle.
We wanted to recreate the wooden bicycle to somehow go back in time but with the technologies of today.
Our bike is completely handcrafted, we do not use any machine that we use only tools that are moved by manually. There are no pantographs with numerical control, there are no machines that automate and speed up the building process because it is essential that each stroke, each step,is in the hands of a craftsman who feels the wood being transformed in his hands.
This type of processing necessarily excludes a high volume of production.
Carrerbike is guaranteed for life because wood is forever and can be handed down from father to son. They will numbered, so that the value is maintained over time.
The “Made in Italy” is critical for this project meaning that the alchemies that generated this idea are all strictly Italian, from the artisans to the designers to the concept.
But we do not want to be “extremists”. We use some parts that are not manufactured in Italy but they fit so well in our bicycle, like Brooks saddles which are English although of Italian ownership.
We do evaluate these choices very carefully.
