I quite like it, i just turned 18 and im thinking Of buying one! Because it's really cheap to drive. In holland you dont even have to pay road taxes when you drive this car! It'll cost me about 30 euro's a month on insurance! Best deal ever. I like performance cars a lot, but cant afford it right now, ill buy a sports car when i turn 23 or something. This car is awesome for beginners!
I used to have the Seat version of the Lupo - the Arosa. It was a great car for someone who had just passed their test. Will have to check both of these cars out.
It's a good price, and is an ideally sized car for people living in cities especially in london as I believe it just qualifies for exemption from the congestion charge.
The Up! is a good looking city car, it's just a shame the electric version is being released for three times the price of the gas version. I'll wait for the electric version to come down, or buy an electric model from another maker when I can afford it. I'm tired of paying for gas.
I wonder if a Harley Davidson Evolution engine could be fit into the engine compartment. An approved engine that comes with the car vs a V-Twin Evolution monster.
High performance??? Could one not work with the power train to increase the performance? I could see wire, chrome wheels, headers leading to dual pipes, forced air filter vents, and a whole host of other engine modifications. It looks like all one can do is to improve the engine as the body is minimum as is. With a llittle work, it could be a real sleeper.
@c02pistolman I feel your pain. Gone are the days are svelte, timeless car designs. And VW has become the 'Toyota' of the European automotive industry... producing boring, soulless driving appliances. But in the grand scheme of things, this car isnt a bad as the new budget models coming out of Asia. For instance, have you seen the new Nissan Micra?!
Ahm if you talk about trucks then you should check out the Amarok. It is a Vw pick up truck with a diesel and 4 wheel drive... It is not available in US market though and for a good reason. Review of one: watch?v=ahXRi8BgWv4
Yey VW have made another car for old grannies :( Trying to find a decent car when your 19 is a waste of time they just want everyone cruising in pieces of plastic crap like this. I wouldn't want to pay 2k for this :( The future's gna suck everything is going to be the same, slow boring ugly bubble cars, might as well be communists. Sadly car design died by the time I could drive ¬¬ grrrr

Great little car!
My guess is that no more than 3-cylinders can be fitted under that bonnet, and that a GT version of it would be probably a 3-cyl 1L turbo
I want a VW Pick(Up) with a diesel turbo. Been waiting for that 20 years or more.

If I am rich, i'll buy this as my toy

@c02pistolman OH SO EDGY! the UP is a budget car, of course it's not a high performance car.
This should have been the replacement for the Lupo and not that fucking fox failure.
