Bandsaw Edge monitoring for straightness

optoCONTROL ODC2520 optical micrometers are used at set intervals along the length of a bandsaw blade as it is being produced. Each sensor is used in EDGE mode to detect the lower edge position of the blade as it passes. The first and last ODC2520 are used to provide a reference plane/straight line which is then compared to the value of the middle ODC2520. Any deviation from the calculated/expected value is shown as a deviation on this unit. The spacing between the sensors along the target length can be adjusted to meet the specific requirements of the customer or applied standard. Depending on the target geometry the optoCONTROL ODC2520 can also be used to measure the diameter or width of the target as it passes through the beam.
