its how the dyno works mate they all open the throttle wide as and the dyno is retarding it till they hit the space bar and then it revs up to the limiter. Thats how they measure how hp/tq it has, hope that helps

My LS3 has over 105k miles making ~575hp with simple long tube headers, and a aftermarket spec'd camshaft. Has no reliability issues and makes a shit load of torque while spinning to 7,000 rpms for literally ~$1,200 in brand new parts mods.

Somewhat partna. The dyno puts load on the engine, you set a rpm to start the readings and then press space. Per say 3k to 7k and it becomes a more steady and readable power curve

I am assuming that the octane is higher than 98 because 419 will not come with this number on a hydraulic cam.I think the compression of the pistons exceeds 13.1 .

I noticed that too and also on the drivers side valve cover in the same spot. These are totally aftermarket valve covers, probably to clear the upgraded springs and all that. On the original grandfather LS1 valve covers there were multiple nipples on the valve covers to support the PCV system which was a big rubber circuit which went around the whole intake manifold. Maybe these plugs are for hooking up PCV systems or catch cans but I don't know shy they are so loose or faulty that they are leaking like that. Not good.

Silly question wheres the mass air flow sensor? Is it somehow built into the dyno? And when you do a tune wont this affect the tune if the motor goes into a car that will be using a MAF?
Oh I did not think about that. Maybe a absolute pressure sensor very well could be the answer. I remember doing MAF conversions on Fox Body Mustangs back in my day vs the speed density. LOL
Most people now a day use MAP sensor for performance application, just for the reasons that you don't have to worry that much abt a boost leaks and the position where ur maf is placed.

I am basing that off the 6L80e bing around as efficient as the 4L60 and 4L80, it could be better, it could be worse, I dunno. There are quite a few variables but its not all about the peak number at the wheels, a friend of mine lost over 20hp at the wheels when he went from a manual to an auto with a high-stall but gained over half a second on the strip.
I have a 2004 GTO with the Texas speed record holding LS1 bottom end package and made 470rwh and 420rwt but with the Fast LSXR 102mm intake, Nick Williams 102mm TB and 100mm LS7 GM MAF I can't get it to idle right two different tuners. sucks. Fast and loud though.

Bad oiling problem with the ls2 in the tbss. Need to look into a new oil pickup that moves the location from the front to the middle of pan. Just had to put a fresh ls2 in mine and have since bought a ls3 to drop into it
Nope. The LS are a great engine. A Windsor with similar heads will do the same and they do. It's not a ford thing, they're just knobs that don't appreciate good engineering.

yes,.......anyone can go buy a drum of c16 of VP but that isnt readily available. e85 can get to 8.33:1 AFR lol and at 2.70 ish a gallon, and the pumps are everywhere now.
I'd like to build something similar maybe lower compression 10.9 on 92octane is all I can get unless I can go e85. Will a 11.5 compression detune to run on 91 if that's all I have? Some aftermarket ECU will run three programs 1 for 91, e85, 100 race gas. That way if all I can get is pump gas maybe only 550hp e85 700hp and 100 650hp.

have a look at '50th 427 engine' , this is my ute, it has this sort of power and a very similar build. made a best of 398kw (525hp) at the wheels through a manual... the vid is 391 but that wasnt the best pass. yes the ls engines are incredible, I've been driving it around for a few months now and fuel eccon is about the same as standard. Driveability is great, and when you stand on it the power is rediculous, revs very fast and very free..
Probably around 550wheel through a big stalled th400 th400. Easy 9's on 100 octane or e85. Impressive for Hydraulic roller. Stroked Windsors need big solid roller and high compression to make this power, unless its a Clevor.

700HP is quite a good number for the displacement. The GM LSX 454 I think is only 770HP and it has 13:1 compression.
The LSX454 is 620-650, the LSX454R is 770 and that's with a carb

It's probably using a MAP sensor , so it measures pressure inside the manifold, like the honda civics

Worry less about static compression and more about dynamic, which you can control with the cam profile.

have a look at '50th 427 engine' , this is my ute, it has this sort of power and a very similar build. made a best of 398kw (525hp) at the wheels through a manual... the vid is 391 but that wasnt the best pass. yes the ls engines are incredible, I've been driving it around for a few months now and fuel eccon is about the same as standard. Driveability is great, and when you stand on it the power is rediculous, revs very fast and very free..

Why use hydraulic lifters?
Probably around 550wheel through a big stalled th400 th400. Easy 9's on 100 octane or e85. Impressive for Hydraulic roller. Stroked Windsors need big solid roller and high compression to make this power, unless its a Clevor.
