    Reading comments revealed several who complained of difficulty dumping heavy loads. Solution: If load is to heavy to lift/dump simply turn towbar 90 degrees so front wheels are oriented sideways and tip over the cart on its side. Easy Peasy!

    I use the large 12cft cart for snow clearing, it dumps and handles easily over the curb with mounds of snow. The dump nut sometimes gets jammed on the frame, but that's an easy to wiggle free. It's also light enough to put on the truck bed.

    This is the second Gorilla Cart video I've seen with the keeper pins on the axles installed upside down. Previous reviews that I read before I bought my cart complained about losing the pins. Insert the pins from the top down and they're way less likely to fall out.

  • @sandyk6657
    @sandyk6657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks for the comparison of these two carts. I went with the smaller one for a number or reasons. It's lighter, easier to pull, less expensive, my wife who is small can handle it easier, takes up less space in the garage, don't have a need to tow it and don't see us hauling 1,200 lbs or anywhere near that. We are gardeners and this is for light duty stuff like carrying mulch, some plants, dead heads of the perennials. Also, the bigger and heavier the cart and the load, the more burdensome this will be to pull around the yard. The frame on the bigger one is quite a bit beefier and heavier. If you are doing heavy moving of rocks or big loads of soil and have the room to store it, go with the big one. I think they make a 12 cubic foot cart, which must be massive.

    • @sandyk6657
      @sandyk6657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I'm going to do the same thing he did and get the bigger cart in addition the smaller one. This way I have it covered on more jobs in the yard. There are somethings the smaller cart will be better for, and same for the bigger one. I put a lot of mulch bags out in the flower beds and we have a large yard. The small one will carry one or two bags of mulch. But the bigger one should easily hold 3 or more. It's more about the capacity of the tub rather than the weight it can carry. For storing them with the limited garage space I have, I think the small one will fit inside the big one, so it will be just the footprint of the bigger one.

    I got the 7cu version two days ago. I have ten tons of fill to move off my driveway to level out an area that had an above ground pool deck installed by the previous owner of the property.
    I was considering buying the smaller one but realized I would use the tow feature enough that it didn't make much sense to try and jimmy rig the thing over a $70 difference. Of course, it also has more space for more payload.
    So happy I went with this. The only thing that would make me happier is if I could lock the pivoting mechanism. As is it doesn't allow for me to back the Dino into the space that I need while starched to my garden tractor. It pivots on itself and just doesn't work. I have to unlatch it and manually push it into place. It's not a ton of work, but after many dunks it's just extra time that could've been saved had I been given a way to lock the pivot.
    Anyway, overall I love this thing. It replaced a 80 wheelbarrow completely. I don't see myself using that thing, maybe ever again.

    So I bought the 7cf for all the reasons you said and now I want a do over to get the 4. The reason will only apply to a few people but I use my Snow Bear trailer for bringing in wood chips and gravel. The 7cf cart is 6 inches higher than my trailer so i have to lift each shovel full to transfer into the cart. The 4CF cart I can just slide from trailer to cart. On a yard of gravel this makes a huge difference and is the most back breaking part of the whole job. If I used my truck the 7cf would be better but I wont haul gravel in her. Until I can get a 4CF I am backing onto ramps but that's a pain. Would love to have both if storage wasn't an issue.

If you have a load of dirt your going to have to take time and scrape out the tail gate area for as much as 1/4 of the load. If you're in a hurry or dealing with a lot of volume your better off with a swing tail gate dump cart.

    Only 2 things I have found that suck about these carts: they can't be backed up like a trailer due to the 4 wheels, and they aren't as fast as a wheelbarrow. If you have a kid that is capable of driving a lawn tractor without running over anything, you can fill this cart and a wheelbarrow at the same time and save a lot of time. Cart loads for the big pile, wheelbarrow goes to specific spots material is needed. Just my $.02.
    I do use my Gorilla Cart pretty much non stop spring through fall, and the wheelbarrow & trailer only when/where the cart dosen't work.

      It must depend on the store. I’ve seen a couple assembled at my store in the past. They take up more space though so I can see why a store wouldn’t do it.

      @@JimmyLewisMows Bit the bullet and got the 7 cu. My justification is you can't fit more in the smaller one but you can fit less in the bigger one in addition to less trips. Just moved a bunch of crushed cinder blocks with a breeze and gonna used it to level dirt in the future. 😀
      Also if anyone else is reading this, you might find this useful. I placed to ceramic disc magnets with double sided tape under the rim where the handle bar rest. This just prevent the bar flopping to the ground by accident if moved during storage.

    On the Gorilla website it says the tires are 10” on the 4 cubic foot one and 13” on the 7 cubic foot one. Your video confused me because you said 10” for the big one and 5-6” for the small one, and I’m trying to find the right one online. Otherwise great video thanks!

      Too late now, probably, but if you watch this video at 3:15, the smaller cart has 10" and the larger one has 13", must have just been confused from his recent shopping expedition.

      I have both the Gorilla poly cart and the metal mesh one bought at the same time. The poly cart is a yard queen and just sits outside and has done zero amount of work and after two years the internal tubes of the fours wheels have leaks and need to be replaced and the poly tub has degraded to UV. The metal cart has done all the work and still going strong, but eventually the pneumatic wheels will go as well. I have already changed the pneumatic wheels to flat-free wheels on the poly cart, but darn they are expensive and almost cost as much as the cart.

    Bought the big one and the handle/tow feature is weak. The tabs are weak and they bend. First use it bent. Handle wouldn't go back in place until I straightened it out. Everytime I tow it bends. It finally broke and now I have to weld it. Going to reinforce it. Hope that's all that breaks. Oh and folks I have been nice to it also and it still bent. It's just whimpy. The rest of the cart so far so good.

    • @JimmyLewisMows
      @JimmyLewisMows  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Closest this thing has ever gotten to the beach was hauling sand and pulling with a four wheeler over piles of sand. It's a tank. Would I pull my kids in it at the beach in soft sand? No.

    My biggest issue they don't dump completely empty. I just got the big cart and it leaves a lot of material at the rear unless you rake it out by hand, I use a hoe to help clean it out. Minda frustrating.

  • @chrisgibson8259
    @chrisgibson8259 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Got one on Sunday, I have to say, 1) if you are going to tow it, it is the worst thing ever and can't backup with it. 2) the pivot point for dumping is way too far back and takes a lot of force to get them to dump. 3) the box mine came in said complete empty dumping.... yeah only if you flip it over completely.

    • @JimmyLewisMows
      @JimmyLewisMows  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed with a lot of these. Going to try and get a full review in asap. Just wanted to show off the different sizes in case it might be helpful for someone unsure of which one they might want.

    • @chrisgibson8259
      @chrisgibson8259 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JimmyLewisMows Also, I don't have much flat area, so I'll be towing it 99% of time. If you have flat yard and won't load it with over say 500 lbs, they probably are great. But I filled it with sand and a little stone to the just the top, not heaping, and it was a little bit more effort than I would have liked to dump it. I was hoping it would fill 2 use cases, but I'll probably get a dedicated tow cart and a single axle 2 wheel wheel barrow.

    • @JimmyLewisMows
      @JimmyLewisMows  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the heavy material of course will take a bit more effort to dump. I've since used this cart to move well over 25 tons of material over the past week, with my sand project, and another issue that required a bunch of top soil. Just finished moving 10 yards of mulch as well. It's seen a lot of action over the past week.

    Awesome comparison...I really appreciate it as they aren't on display anywhere around here. I have 8000 total square feet of lawn with no way to tow anything. Based on your experience, would you recommend the smaller 4 or the larger 7?

    • @JimmyLewisMows
      @JimmyLewisMows  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Really depends on what you will use it for. If you need to move a lot of stuff at once, go for the 7. If it’s just a bit here and there, go for the 4. I’m guessing you’ll be okay with the 4.
