Thanks for taking the time to explain the crop rotation and functions of the differnet tractors. I apprecaite it as somone newly intertested in agriculture.
Thank you for watching. I was hoping that showing the full picture would help understand why the tillage is important and why there are so many tractors.
Tillage is always interesting to watch. If you like heavy tillage I posted fall tillage video last month featuring 4 fall tillage passes in the same field at th-cam.com/video/KWvmKYMVv-8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tJwV1TjQu71_ojZa
Great video! Finally a farm that gets it! All these big no till guys never deep rip anything! And, you can see it in the quality of their crops at harvest time!
Wonderful content! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain the process. How do the Deere track machines measure up against the tire machines? The tracks seem to distribute the weight more uniformly with a much larger footprint. ❤
Been eagerly waiting for this one! Kinda cool seeing a 440 on triples like that. It looked like the 9R on triples pulling the planter % the 5:50 mark was a 370. That's really neat to see.
Good eye on the 370. The section of the video talking the cropping season were clips from my archives filmed from 2018 to 2023. The tractors pulling the air drills are 9360Rs. The farm in rotates two 4wds from its fleet every few years. In 9360Rs and 9370Rs were the main tractors on the farm in 2018. The farm upgraded to 9R 490s and 9R 440s this year. I think the 490s were working on strip tillage this fall. I did not see them.
If I lived in that area I would volunteer to run a tractor for them. It's not hard work, as compared to stand grinding or hod carrying, running equipment 8-10 hours a day but it sure is tiring. Of course the grader I ran didn't have air conditioning, padded seats, cruise control, auto steering, etc. so it kind of like comparing operating an old dump truck versus a new BMW.
back when we put in 3000 acres of spring crop i pulled a 50ft Morris airseeder with a JD 8970 on 520x42 triples n man there wasnt much it couldnt pull through, better than the T9.615 high idler that replaced it.
I enjoy watching farming in the UK on TH-cam. It amazes me how tractors narrowly fit down the roads and navigate traffic and parked cars in towns. Tractors with this tire set up would not go very far on the road in Britain. The triple tire set up is the same width as the 4wds you see with big metric dual wheels. The triples ride smoother and reduce power hop vs duals.
Thank you for thus great video! I love watching all the agriculture equipment at work on the farms. What has been your perception of the difference between the multiple tires opposed to using tractors with tracks? Which causes less compaction of the field?
Nothing like triples on a tractor, no matter what color it is. Not to mention the rarity of all the 9R’s having a 3 point hitch, but then again I’m sure they ordered them that way. Great footage, keep it coming🇺🇸

My family farms in North Dakota and I would like it if you would do a video of them. It's Richter Farms at Goodrich. They currently have about 8000 acres under tillage and no till every thing except for corn ground and old sunflower ground
On the areas where the most compaction is, would they need to rip it twice as it is so compacted, also do triples grip better than tracks doing this type of work?

What a great banker they have. Just how many $millions of equipment does that farm have? Oh here's an answer: 2022 John Deere 9R 440 Tractor - $479,000
I wonder if super singles would work better than the triples on the 440's. Obviously traction is the main issue there. That farm sure does like their John Deere equipment, don't think I've seen that much green in one place since I was in Ireland.
Here in WKY triples are the most popular for higher horse power tractors. They give the best traction in the red clay soil. Metric duals power hop here. I have not seen any LSW singles used on farms here. Farmers feel the super single will not put the power to the ground. I have filmed a 500 hp FENDT 1050 on wide singles, wide duals and triples. The triples by far gave the best ride in tillage. The large singles really did not perform. Triples are also cheaper to buy or replace. You’re buying a row crop tire rather than an expensive metric.
@@bigtractorpower Interesting. Guess different ground requires different tires. Didn't seem like the triple tired tractor was doing any better than duals which is why I was wondering.
@@mfreund15448 Depends on upfront costs versus long term costs. Jason already answered my question and I do remember now that you mention it someone talking about the costs of buying multiples versus other options. I didn't see any real difference in traction between the duals and the triples which made me wonder about the LSW's. A person learns nothing if they never ask questions.
That is when the tractor runs out of traction or they ease off for a second. There are also some big rocks in the field and they life to go over them. They will also lift the ripped up in an area that will was and leave that spot unworked.
Whilst I appreciate that ripping the ground is indeed necessary for breaking up all that compaction, the first thing that sprung to mind, was the cost of the operation. Firstly, the cost of all thar JD equipment, both tractors and rippers, JD not being the cheapest on the market ! Secondly, the fuel bill for running all those tractors. The owner of the farm must have some serious acreage to justify all that equipment. Naturally, I am aware that timeliness of such operations is of the utmost importance - it simply has to get done, or the next operation will not.
You can be sure that this farm has to be thousands and thousands of acres big to justify the investment in all these tractors and tillage equipment. This farmer , whoever he is , is definitely a multi millionaire.
A large factor in the big farming in this area in Kentucky is double crop soybeans. If you farm 2,000 acres you crop 3,000 acres in a season. Raising two grain crops on the same field in one year is plus for the farms. Because of the schedule needed to run the crop rotation it leads to big equipment that can cover the acres fast.
This is not farm Matt works on. It is in the same town. This year for corn harvest I did a ride along with the owner of the farm that Matt works to talk with about upgrading to X9 combines. In that video Matt is running the X9 shown in the opening 30 seconds of the video. You can watch the corn harvest at th-cam.com/video/oEZn6nqGwXM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=N6yWPHvQBo2HCqag I will try to catch up with Matt when he is spraying wheat this winter.
Is this Garnett farms? How can they own so much equipment, maintain it, pay their workers and still make a profit!? They must own/rent thousands of acres? 🤯

V rippers always look small behind such big tractors until you see them struggling for traction
They do. Running as deep as they do the tractor gets a good work out.

Great job Jason. How wide is a 9R with triples?
I have a 3 shank 915. First year I used it on the end rows the 766 IH would lift the front end off the ground. They are a good tool.
Wow that’s a work out for a 766. The 915’s can really give a tractor a work out.
Lots of ripping here in California, and most is done with Cat D10-D11 with a 6 ft shank.
