I looked at this company because they are everywhere in the hunting industry advertising. But they are incredibly high prices for what they are in my opinion. Yes they use the best metal you can get for a knife. But I honestly think they could drop their prices a little. Their warranty is also not a lifetime one. I went with White River knives for the reason of the warranty. And I love it. Model 1 is the model I went with.
@@MrChiumiento Thanks, I will do some research on this company.I have had the opportunity to us it for skinning? If so, what are you impressions of it?
@@veythach6101I have not had the chance to use it for anything yet. I will say I have a Kershaw pocket knife made of Magnacut. I use it as my EDC the edge retention is unbelievable I am an electrician and have been using it for everything including work. I am no knife pro but I will say it feels pretty much as shard as the day I got it about a month ago.
@@MrChiumiento I really like the Model 1 Skinner by White River, but I wish it was offered in the magnacut steel. I will be in the market for one after this hunting season, so hopefully my wish comes true :)
Happy to see some more detailed knife reviews. I’ve also switched to fixed blade knives, although not super high quality. The Mindful Hunter reviews are great as a lot of us are from Canada as well. Thanks!
I remember following frontiersman knives early on and was very impressed with the progression and the passion you see in the knives. Thanks for the review
Appreciate the insight on the handle materials. There’s obviously a lot of online info on steels, but your findings from field use are really informative and helpful.
I’m glad to see that you are using reasonably sized knives on big game, rather than the large ‘Rambo’ style knives that are impractical to use for ordinary processing.
I generally dont like skeletonized and bare steel but the Argali Carbon (which I would take over the sawtooth) is a phenominal field dressing kinfe and I can insert my middle and ring finger through the holes to stack my fingers for varying cutting angles. Also to compare to the Vulpes check out Bark River Knives - CDPH or Bird & Trout or EXT-1 perhaps many many many more blade shape, handle, and steel options in a semi-custom format.
Frontiersman is a beauty! Love a good Canadian knife maker. Have you ever looked at North Arm Knives? BC company. Would like to see how those knives stack up to your reviews.
I really like the looks of the Vulpes. It looks similar to the White River Knives Small Game Hunter, that I picked up this spring. I haven't got the chance to use it, yet, but Maine's deer season is just about to kick off.
Man thats a sweet looking knife! I've collected one from just about every custom maker we have in NZ- think I might hit Frontiersman up and get one made with sheep horn in a similar blade style to yours..
I'm considering flipping my MKC Blackstone for the Argali Sawtooth. I really like that knife. Well.. after watching your entire video maybe not. I already have a benchmade flyway.
What do you use to keep your knives sharp. I'm always practicing on different style knives. Just wondering how often you had to sharpen the blade while skinning and quartering.
I have never heard of either one of these companies. Have you checked out White River knives? I went with them because they have a lifetime warranty. And I wanted a knife that was made of Magnacut. From the research I have done Magnacut is the best metal out there for knives. I would love to hear your input on this comment. Thanks for the review.
Sub'd, liked and commented! What a sweet little knives. I've been on the fence about Magnacut. If you get the chance you might like the Lionsteel M1 or M4. Both offer M390 steel in a compact precision cutting tool for around $150usd.
Looks to me the frontiersman has a design more suited to me, but magnacut is in an entirely different universe than nitro-v, hat's a 10-8 round right there favoring magnacut.
Its's great to get a review from someone who actually uses there knives. Too many youtube reviews are basically unboxing videos glorified as a review.
💯. Appreciated man!
Great review. I would love to see a video review on the Montana knife company compared to other knives for field dressing.

I’ve been looking at that argali for awhile now…….. I might need it.

Awesome review! Would love to see MKC and Dagr & Nott

Thanks for the review, looking forward to the 4" blade review
👍
Good insights, Jay, as always with your reviews
👍
Great video. Interesting to see the frontiersman take the pick with the market going in the direction of the argali skeletonized look.
For sure.
I like Frontiersmen Vulpes so much, but it is expensive for me. I will try to make the same one. It also looks like one of Banchmade knives.

Great insights. Appreciate the review as we contemplate a fixed blade knife purchase!

Definitely 2 bad ass knives man! Great review 💪

Cool video, like a leather sheath with a way to hold them in.

I would love to see more knives!!! MKC seems super popular… thanks for your time investment.
👍
real cool both of the knives. An damn i need to get my passport!
👍
Interested in the vulpes size and shape, I'm looking to replace my havalon with a knife that can do the caping tasks the havalon does so well.
👍
Great knife review Jay!
Need to do a BAC review next
Sweet review as always keep up the good work

Very informative

Great knives, and review!

How is the sheath for the Argili retention? Could you strap it upside down on your pack and not worry about the knife falling out?
I wouldn’t put it upside down. Branch could grab the handle pretty easily. I’d trust it upright though.
Really cool knives
👍
What do you use to keep your knives sharp. I'm always practicing on different style knives.
Just wondering how often you had to sharpen the blade while skinning and quartering.
I use that pocket sharpener from worksharp. Carry it in my kill kit.
I can do a whole animal without resharpening
Nice knifes
👍
If you do a folder review gotta try out the skaha from northarm knives. Bc made and world renowned.
👍
In my opinion, the Frontiersmen seems to be the best one overall, but the 4” option would be best.
Yeah excited to try it out.
I just got a tyto knife this year but that argali looked nice

No, I’ll take a look.

I’m here for the draw, although I would have ended up here eventually anyways… 😂
👍
You are really over thinking it i use a Ontario rat, cheap folding knife does the job
🫡
Frontiersmen is missing a sharpening choil…would expect that for a knife that cost 3 bills 🙄
👍
Knives are great unless their able to keep a good edge....😃👊🇨🇦🎁🫎🦌
🤣
Great review
