    Thanks for the video Jason. I have a 2015 900 xp and will be upgrading to this 1000 soon. I have driven the new 1000 just a short distance but it seems like night and day compared to my 900. I appreciate you putting the negatives on your video as well and it doesn’t seem there are many concerns for me to switch. Thanks again and feel free to do more videos as I would like to get more info before buying a new one. Much rather watch someone that actually has one rather than a dealer promo video.

    Good, thorough review.
    My father recently bought a 2018 Ranger 500, which is the smallest SxS Polaris makes. We use it on our family farm of 120 acres to do chores and stuff. For being the most basic of all their side-by-sides, it is pretty capable. He's got the hard coat poly windshield, poly back panel, poly roof, and canvas doors.

    • @jbrannon509
      @jbrannon509  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WobblinGoblin1 Thank you. This is my first side by side. Honestly I could have gone with a smaller one but I liked the body style of the 1000. I hope it serves me well.

    • @WobblinGoblin1
      @WobblinGoblin1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should serve you well. That's quite a machine.
      My dad's Ranger 500 is really capable, there's nothing it can't do, terrain wise. We have everything on our farm from a mountain stream, a river, couple of ponds, corn fields, hay fields, and steep, large hills with forests. It goes everywhere. We have one large hill that is 300' higher in elevation than the lowest part of the farm and it climbs it whether there's snow or not.
      I can only imagine how capable your 1000 is. Congratulations on it.

    I've been considering a used 18 XP 1000 and came across your review. I appreciate an honest none dealer review. I have an old garage with low doors that I cant adjust. Would you be able to measure max height of your machine? I'm also interested in your opinion of noise level. Can you hold a normal conversation with a passenger at say 15-20 mph?

    • @jbrannon509
      @jbrannon509  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Scott, sorry for the delayed reply. I've been away from home for a few days. I could sure measure the height for you when I get out in my shop in the next day or two. I'd say the may height is about 6' 5". I'm 6'2" and can stand on my tip-toes and look across the roof. With the windshield in the noise isn't too bad. I've never had another side by side to compare it too. It's not as quiet as my Jeep was, of course since the engine is below/behind you. My girlfriend and I can carry on a conversation at those speeds without having to yell at one another.

    Very useful video. I am going this afternoon to look at a 2021 XP 1000. I have one question for you. Do you have any issues with your shins starting to cramp or hurt when driving it due to the gas pedal angle and location? I drove a buddies Honda Pioneer the other day, and the angle of the pedals just after a few minutes started to make me have cramps and pain in my shins.

Mahindra will come standard with 36 month power train warranty, 1,200 lbs electric tilt bed, 2” front & rear receivers, tilt steering wheel, 14” aluminum wheels on 27” tires, very comfortable 3 person seating, 2,500 lbs towing capacity and more.

    I Love The Body Style toO of these ! I have almost convinced myself that the 2018 Ranger 500 in plain green will be "enough" for me and the price on those are right at $8,000 in my area..which is great ! ......BUT ! ?? ...i had a Sportsman 500 for awhile and the people i rode with were always "Waiting" on me to catch up if we did any faster trails or road runs. That Sucked and I sold that 500 for that very reason ...and swore i'd Never Buy Another Under Powered machine . Even with high comp. piston and performance parts it was only good for 55mph ...and thats plenty fast for any trail ....but when you rode with people that have machines that EASILY do 60mph ... just 5 mph more ... That puts you way behind after a few miles . .....DammiT !!

    I was considering a purchase of one of these. I do a lot of storm chasing and I need to be careful to not get myself into any hail for obvious reasons of sustaining hail damage to my vehicle. Question is the comfortability. Could you drive your ranger comfortably 100+ mile trips on gravel roads and such?

    Nice ranger, it is unfortunate that yours will experience serious engine damage due to removing the important break in oil that polaris requires to remain in the engine for 20 hours or 2 gas tanks of use. Break in oil allows the rings to set properly preventing excess oil consumption.

    • @jbrannon509
      @jbrannon509  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha. I'm not sure why you think this but that is sure not the case. Thank you though.

    • @bobcat1
      @bobcat1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jbrannon509 That is not my words. This is what I was told by the dealer when I purchased my Polaris. Break in oil is only in the engine. That is why it is a good idea to let the dealer do the first service in order to have proper documentation to provide in case of a warranty claim. Don't take my word for it. just call your polaris dealer service department tomorrow and ask what happens if you drain out the break in oil after 5 hours and replace it with a synthetic standard oil. Amsoil also sells break in oil. I copied the following from the amsoil website > (One of the primary reasons to break in an engine is to seat the piston rings, and that means allowing the rings and piston skirt to carefully wear down the peaks (called asperities) on the cylinder wall.} Break in oil is a special blend.

    • @jbrannon509
      @jbrannon509  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bobcat1 I was told by my Polaris dealer they it is completely fine and Amsoil will retain the warranty. You don't have to have the dealer do oil changes to keep your warranty up. Polaris does put a "break in" oil in. They typically aren't shipped with oil in them. It's whatever the dealer puts in them when assembled. Most I've ever talked to just put the Polaris oil in which from studies and analysis I've seen, I'm not a fan of. The idea of break in oil vs getting the first "dirty" oil out is a big debate. When I drained the first oil it had just a small amount of metallic material which was normal on the first change. I'd rather get any metal out of my engine rather than keep any grit the filter doesn't catch in to grind around for 20 or 30 hours. Everyone says "they have a buddy" but a good friend of mine is the top high performance engine guy in Middle TN where I live. He's Polaris and Kawasaki certified and has been building race engines and fixing factory ATV engines for 20+ years. He agreed that it wouldn't hurt to get that first oil out sooner than later. It's not a special break in formula. It's just all in preference I guess.

    • @bobcat1
      @bobcat1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jbrannon509 Well in that case, maybe they told me that so they could get that extra $285 first service charge. They also told me to use only Polaris fluids and filter during the warranty period. Kinda seems like each dealer has their own recommendations. Maybe mine is a crook.

    • @jbrannon509
      @jbrannon509  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Its definitely noticeably better in my opinion. If you're gonna be doing a lot of higher speed road riding (30mph+) I'd leave it connected because the difference is negligible but if you do mostly slow speed (low range) trail riding like I do then you will notice a smoother ride.

They were originally near $300 but I ordered them from Napa through my work's commercial account and got them for about $200. They are very bright and come with a "No Questions Asked" replacement warranty. Not sure if that's offered by Rigid or Napa. He said if I ever break one to bring it back and he'll have me a new one.

      Two legs good; Four legs bad. I ride mine in one wheel drive but the dealer said to ride it in low if your just trail riding and I have a 2018 1000

    • @jbrannon509
      @jbrannon509  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex, you should ride in 2wd, not turf mode. Only use turf mode on level surfaces with no load. I thought yours was different? It can't be an 18.

      If I could go back I may have bought a used 900. I love my 18 but I don't ride it a whole lot. I wouldn't trade for another brand or model though.

      These didn't. They are rigid brand. You can buy the Polaris pulse plugs but I ran my own from the bus bat terminals to a toggle switch in the dash.

    why take the front sway bar off?

    • @jbrannon509
      @jbrannon509  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lakey Wilder It just makes the ride much smoother over rough trails. Just gives the front suspension a little more room to articulate.

      You sure can. You just have to install a turn signal and register it like a car. I've still never registered mine because I live out in the country. I ride on these back roads all the time in the summer.

    You can't listen to the internet, because those unhappy people who have had issues, Use their ATV's/UTV's to do things they are not made for, like going in deep muddy water. They fill their engines, gear casings, belt cover/clutch with muddy water, and then bitch when it destroys them. I've owned many Polaris ATV's and UTV's, and I drove them all hard, but never sunk them in water, and never had any major issues..
