@TheAspieWorld as a fellow Aspie, I can confirm that having just one beverage on hand is never enough. However, I never realized how common this was! I've only honestly been doing so for the past 11 months or so maybe, and as I type this, I have a Vitamin Water and regular water on the kitchen table in front of me lol. Sometimes I'll even have a pop or a sparkling water in addition to those!
I felt called out just by looking at the title on my feed page. I always have multiple types of drinks. I am not diagnosed but after 4 plus years of researching Autism and looking back at my childhood, the signs have been here all along. Currently, I have my morning sugar-free caffeine beverage, and water, and I will be making tea shortly. At night it's a variance of always having water and tea, but either a protein shake, a small soda, or other sweet drink. (I am a heavy tea-drinking American lol) Now I kinda see why every time I visit family members they would always be surprised at me pulling multiple different types of drinks out of my bag. They are used to It now.
For real? I feel so called out. I make jokes about this at work. Is this a thing?! I’m American, so it’s coffee, then tea, water, sparkling water, more tea. Overlapping and having so many cups and bottles to wash each day. Alternating hot and cold sometimes. My dopamine hit is listening to psychology or tarot videos. My interests change. I’ll be intensely focused for sometimes years at a time but I switch interests. Also, it’s good I have an office job with a toilet nearby because I’m so hydrated I pee about 15 times a day.
When I clicked, I'm thinking, "Nah, I don't do that." Then I glanced up to see my cup of coffee, cup of tea, and a sport bottle of water. 😮 I learn something new, every visit!
Geez! I didn't know this was a problem. 😁 I do it all the time. I have three tumbler mugs. Many times I find myself having one with sparkling water, one with coffee (mind you, the coffee has to be made exactly the same every single time), and another one with juice. So cool that some are sharing their three drink stack. ♾️
Yesss officially called me on the drink problem! I currently have my hot coffee, & kool-aid at the ready. Gatorade or water I drink while standing in front of the fridge. 😂
I usually have 3 drinks as well. I had no idea that this was common in autism until my wife read about it. Add that to all the other things I do that I later find are autistic traits.
So relatable!! At home i have at least 2 drinks on the table and on my nightstand. When i go to work, i have minimal 2 drinks in my bag🤭 thanks for explaining. Now it makes more sense.
Everyday at work, I alternate between sparkling water and spring water. When at home, I add Poweraid Zero to that (and often carry one of each walking out the door).
I forget to drink!!! I totally can see how this could be a thing, though. I do always have i e water and coffee in the morning but my coffee gets cold because I forget to drink it.
Love this channel. 1- I have 2 drinks on right now, just finished the third. 2 - i usually forget to drink anything after the coffee- 3- seeking dopamine- always - luckily I love my job - so I do that a lot. But that leads to burnout. 4 - coffee and a burger-- gross . But I have spd with foods as well 🤪
Then I also have SO MANY cups and the lack of executive function to keep up with getting them to the sink. I have a little hamper thing that I started putting them in, and eventually take them to the kitchen and wash them.
Yep, sitting here with my cups of coffee and tea for breakfast, just having finished my cup of herbal tea for pain medication before. During the colder months I always take a bottle of water and a thermos of herbal tea with honey to choir practise. I usually rotate through at least two different drinks throughout the day. Cool carbonated water and warm black tea with milk. Depending on whether it's spring/summer or fall/winter I mix in either some fruity tea or a fun drink like tonic water. Oh, and for maximum comfort whenever I'm completely overwhelmed or bone tired, I have some chicory root coffee with milk like I've had since I've been two years old (I'm 42 now). I've suspected that this drinking pattern stems from autism, since I usually also have the drinks in a certain order, but having my thoughts confirmed is nice.
I have a strict regime everyday. 2 coffee's, 2 cups water, 1 cup fruit juice, and a litre of fine wine in the evening.... I never drink tea and coffee in the same day as it causes migraine when mixed, either tea OR coffee...
I only have 2 at all times, a coffee/tea/energy drink and a non-caffeinated soda/sugary drink. I *don’t* drink straight water. If I *have* to drink water, there has to be some type of flavor in it. The very thought of drinking something with no taste sends chills down my spine.
I DO THIS🙀🙀🙀 Up to 4 drinks at a time- my job is physical, that’s a bit of the issue…Coke, Diet Coke, Powerade, Monster , lemonade, the list goes on I tell people at work I HAVE A DRINKING PROBLEM 😹😹😹
Thank you!🙏👍I notice I’ll start with 😮tea or coffee and after a few sips once it gets to the right temperature I get seltzer or Coca-Cola because there’s just not enough zing … it’s like I crave the texture of the bubbles and carbonation .I usually end up with 2- 3 beverages on the table … every day. Gatorade makes its way into the rotation half the time. thank you for sharing all your hard work.🙏👍🤗
😂 I just got done filling both my coffee and my water jugs for the day. I ALWAYS have 2 drinks I leave the house with, or that I'm drinking on at home, every single day!! Sometimes while I'm out I will also grab a juice or a sports drink!! 😊🖤
As soon as you said "3 drinks", I looked over at the two cups and soda can on my nightstand and just laughed. I like to have a soda, for the sugar and caffeine, a milk for the cold smoothness, and a water for the thirst quenching and palate cleansing. And of course I love the taste of all three. Never knew this was an AuDHD thing though, lol, but it makes total sense! I also cannot drink hot drinks with my hot food. I need a cold drink, to refresh and quench my thirst. In fact, when I'm drinking a hit drink, I very often need a cold drink right alongside it. As someone who worked for McDonald's for longer than I care to admit, I can confirm that this is usually a Boomer behavior. I don't know why. My husband, who is a Boomer himself, does it too sometimes. And they say WE'RE the weird ones! J/LOL
At least 3. When my brother and I go out for a country cruise. We have to hit every little country store. I always buy something different at each one. Came home with 5 drinks🧉🥤☕🥛🍵 one night.
I can't have any food or drink going. As much as I've tried to chill with a drink or any sort of nourishment, it only lasts 2 minutes. But I do have 4 mugs hanging around for mixing various drinks which I feel I always have to change up. I always am wondering what my body needs and think, "Oh, I should try this, oh, maybe this." Half an hour later, "This is the thing I should drink". One will be a variation of green tea, one a variation of coffee and then another some stevia sweetened soda with a bit of mineral nutrition I think I should add. Basically all different natural meds in my mind.
LMAO 🤣 I am called out. Right this minute I have a a 33.8 oz bottle of water, a large McDonald’s coffee, and a cup of pomegranate juice right on my desk as I watch this video!
I have three drinks but consecutively: a large coffee in the morning, a coconut water starting after lunch, and later in the afternoon i will be searching around for something else, but not water. It's boring.
I don't tend to have hot drinks, I always try to have water by me, and then maybe about 50% of the time, I'll have either a soda or juice as well. then maybe another 10% of the time, I might have an iced coffee or something either along side, or instead of the juice/soda. sometimes i feel like i should have a desk just for my drinks, even if i just have 1
😂 Zevia root beer, blackberry Hint water, Zevia grape soda, 40oz bottle of flavored water (Ultima Raspberry). (And I just finished my chocolate milk 😜). I guess I am very special 🙃😋. My family always complain about me buying new water bottles. I am very clumsy and if it leaks I won’t be using it again. So, I have a large collection of Staleys (all different sizes, designs depending on what I need). Currently have 4 40oz Stanley bottles (flip lids is a must) in rotation. Other sizes if I am going out. Bringing 3 bottles to my Pilates class 😆 in rolling luggage.
I haven't experienced this with drinks, but I have had the general sense of never wanting to stick to just one thing. It makes things more interesting. It's made me think I am incapable of being dedicated to anything, though. It's rather I'm the expert of one thing one moment, and the expert at another the next. Isn't that cool!? I can have a deep understanding of a lot of things. The trick is to remember I did that. Pardon me for thinking I can be a polymath, though.
I don't have 3 drinks on the go when I'm watching this SPECIFICALLY for the reason I've made a huge conscious effort to finish two and move the cups to the sink because they were present on my table together with the third since morning xD (my combo is usually: milk or something milky, plain green tea, whatever obscure concoction (usually berry based) I come up with that day or tomato juice when I'm in a tomato juice phase; also, no water, never water, I really dislike drinking water xD)
The only time I do that is when I'm making tea, already know in advance that I want more than one cup but not more than one cup of the same kind of tea (so making a full teapot is out of question). So I'm making three cups of tea at once so I won't have the extra waiting time if I made them one after the other. Or when I'm at work - then I will also have different drinks out on my desk in advance because I already know that I would rather keep focusing on work and then be completely dehydrated by the end of the day than get up in between to get a new drink.
My morning routine...Large ice water in insulated mug, hot tea, then coffee (also in an insulated mug) With food, either Cocoa or milk. After 5pm one half glass of sprite with my whiskey.
I have four at the moment. Ice water, plain carbonated water, water that dissolved fizzy cold medicine tablets that is easy to swallow, and hot coffee.
I try to limit my caffeine intake to 1 (occasionally 2) cold brew coffee in the morning, with my cut off being 3pm for caffeine. It effects my sleep if I drink caffeine later in the day.

I wasn't entirely sure tbh, Dan. My son's father (my partner of 25+ years) has almost definitely undiagnosed ADHD. Our son (19) has a dual dx.I always thought it was on "his side" of the family but I question myself periodically. Please don't take offence. I had encephalitis in 2016 (inflammation of the brain) & subsequently had multiple strokes on both sides of my brain. 4 years later, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. My neurology has changed, and now I wonder if I've always been on the spectrum. I tend to struggle to know whether I'm thirsty or hungry (sorry, I digress). Wow, when you feel like someone can "see" you 😔
I feel called out. I almost always have three drinks going. At least two. I have my coffee or tea which makes me feel dehydrated, especially with the coffee, so I also have Gatorade going and always water to balance everything out. I had no idea this was an SPD thing. I thought it was just another one of my quirks.
I thought this was weird but then I look down at my desk and I have 3 drinks! Hot coffe for the warmth and 2 types of water for refreashing. This is common for me. LOL Its true!
Can you do a video about food problems. Having to have the same foods every day and only able to eat in a specific place, alone, same spoon, same plate, etc. I was diagnosed and treated for eating disorders for 10 years before getting my autism diagnosis which made it all click. I don't necessarily need a solution, would just be interesting topic.
Mine is a 2 drink problem. I always have water with whatever else I'm drinking because I can't stand to have the residue of any drink, especially sugary drinks, left in my mouth so I always finish with water
You have TH-cam mugs 😮 I drink coffee and an energy drink in the morning and always have a pot of tea on my dresser with a little cup next to it 🕊️🕊️🕊️
It happens sometimes ! Fellow Aspie here ! A great book that a friend loaned me is "" Appreciating Asperger Syndrome"" ! Love ya buddy ! Big AutiStiK Rainbow Dragon Hugs ! 93
dont go out so much but i kind of have 2 glass and a cup for water that i use in sodastream and one for ice coffe/tea , mostly switch water coffe or water tea maybe only me but i do drink a little to fast to enjoy them only after 2-4 cups
I always have drinks going on. But I’m at home in a small condo. I have a Ninja Thirsti that gives flat or carbonated water and you can put two different flavours in the machine and just do one glass. With my ice maker of course. But I sip all day. Coffee, tea, carbonated water w flavour, regular ice water, but I swing between them all and when I go out, I have a variety on me😂
Have you tried adding another to motivate you to drink something? Say juice or coffee to give the motivation to drink more, a la dopamine from the sugar or caffeine to deepen the neural pathway to drink during the day?
Not sure if this counts, but I have matcha in the morning, alcohol-free beer in the afternoon, coconut water in the evening, then flavoured bottled water at night.
😳 Get outta my head!!! Its usually coffee or protein drink + juice or water + ginger ale. I just started drinking Prime (the cherry flavor) last month. Surprised now nice it tasted!
First: I hate it that you break in during your video to do your own commercial. In this clip twice !! Second: as with all neurospicy stuff, I always thought it was something weird that only I do. I have been dx late in life AU-DHD (Aspergers-ADHD) and now I find my tribe, and there are so many of us. ❤ Rule of 3 also applies to activities: crochet, game and Netflix or surfing the web.
I use bottled water to make my ice. I have a huge cup with ice water all day and night. I bring with me extra water and tea and a carbonated soda Barqs.
You don’t know my life! Sometimes it is 4 or 5! 😂 (flat water and fizzy water) and V8 (because I hate eating veggies, but I can drink them if they are spiced up).
Oh I don’t have a problem. I’m totally ok with having 3 drinks around. Coke Zero for caffeine and carbonation, black coffee because it’s awesome and it’ll either be sports drink for hydration or an energy drink if I needed extra energy.
Actually, I don’t drink at all during the day. It is kind of overwhelming for me and I don’t really like the feeling it creates inside of me. It’s just too much. Having more than one drink at the same time freaks me out.
My wee lassy usually has 2 drinks. One is always water n the other is either apple juice or tea/hot chocolate. But now n again (like earlier today) she had water, apple juice n tea.
What? Is this something others do too? Omg.. I have tap water in a bottle and a bit salted water in another bottle. I would love to also have coffee with me but I can’t carry all of that with me, too heavy.. 🙄😬 In my handbag I also carry all the things I could possibly need in an emergency 🫣
The Boomer thing was funny 😂I know what you mean, and I think it stems from it being common to make a pot of tea with a meal when they were kids, (but then tea goes with a lot of meat and two veg old British dinners, but not with the range of food we have now, and coffee certainly doesn’t go with everything, only desert). My Boomer parents don’t drink much either, and I have to have a cold drink with a meal, and then I like a cup of tea with desert, and on some days of the week I have a fizzy drink, but still need the hydrating one, so yeah, that’s 3 drinks.........
You said you talk fast, but I didn’t notice until you said so. But I guess yeah, it is a little fast. I am into spirituality and try to listen to Eckhart Tolle and I do like him but it’s painful. So painful. So slow.
Do you have the "3 drink problem" ?
@TheAspieWorld as a fellow Aspie, I can confirm that having just one beverage on hand is never enough. However, I never realized how common this was! I didn't know anyone else actually did this. Lol

You're right about coffee having a calming affect. I usually have a cup of coffee and a glass of water on at once, but sometimes also juice or soda.
ME TOO
Hey Dan, I hope you have a Merry Christmas with lots of love as well. Thanks for being there for us. 🎄🎈🎁
IT’S A THING?!!🤯😱 I’m shook! I thought maybe me and my sister were just weird!😬🙈😝 Thank you for highlighting this! Wow!❤🙌🏾🫶x
Not only that, I accidentally have like 5 laying around the place because I keep forgetting that I poured myself a glass of water.
👍🏻

I literally have 3 drinks at my desk as I type!! 😂😮
I do it every morning. Coffee or tea, water milk or juice. I made a watermelon/coconut water drink this week so yeah.
Yesss officially called me on the drink problem! I currently have my hot coffee, & kool-aid at the ready. Gatorade or water I drink while standing in front of the fridge. 😂

I feel called out! I currently have 2 bottles of water, a cup of green tea, a can of seltzer while thinking about juice. 😂
I have the same issue 😊
Oh my gosh. Yes! This is so true. Im looking around now to see how many are lying around!
I drink more than one coffee in a day. I find it helps me during the day. Have a great Christmas Dan🌲!
knew exactly what you were talking about about off the title 😅
currently at work w my 3 drinks.
water, diet soda, coffee, always.
Called me out 😂 not me having 2 drinks in front of me while watching your video. Good job!
I rotate through the 3 drinks all day and suddenly remember, “oh yeah food!” I’ve been like that for decades.
Is forgetting to eat a thing?
Yup, I've got three drinks right now. Water, hot chocolate, and diet coke.

Yes, have two. Before would have been several, often three, but noticed the habit and have deliberately managed it to reduce, usually to two.
Got my tea, coke and water. - Spot on, Dan!

Omg yes all the time! Usually iced tea, plain water, and either hot tea or soda. 😂😂😂
Oh for sure, my three are coffee with cream, peach electrolyte water and filtered cold water in a glass bottle.
You called me out !😂😂😂 Hot coffee and an iced drink
I feel called out. ❤
dont go out so much
but i kind of have 2 glass and a cup for water that i use in sodastream and one for ice coffe/tea , mostly switch water coffe or water tea
maybe only me but i do drink a little to fast to enjoy them only after 2-4 cups
I always have drinks going on. But I’m at home in a small condo. I have a Ninja Thirsti that gives flat or carbonated water and you can put two different flavours in the machine and just do one glass. With my ice maker of course. But I sip all day. Coffee, tea, carbonated water w flavour, regular ice water, but I swing between them all and when I go out, I have a variety on me😂
OMG, I have coffee, water and orange juice. I learned something about myself today 😂
Firm believer in three drinks (normally water, herbal tea and decaf coffee for me)
I’m the complete opposite. I can have a bottle of water sitting on the table staring at me all day and still not drink anything.
Have you tried adding another to motivate you to drink something? Say juice or coffee to give the motivation to drink more, a la dopamine from the sugar or caffeine to deepen the neural pathway to drink during the day?
@ I tried this and still forgot.
would you ever do something on aspies and alcohol as well?
Usually I have a flat water, a sparkle and a warm tea going on all day. 😋
Rule of 3 also applies to activities: crochet, game and Netflix or surfing the web.
I use bottled water to make my ice. I have a huge cup with ice water all day and night. I bring with me extra water and tea and a carbonated soda Barqs.
I have been diagnosed with asd and i usually have one drink and drink it too fast and wish i had more which is usally a pop or soda
Two drinks. Hot tea and ice water and specific steel mugs for each.
I always ordered coffee and a coke with breakfast in restaurants. I get this. (I am averse to water, it feels like nothing)
I have water diet mountain dew and orange juice
Coffee,propel, and tea today.
My Boomer parents don’t drink much either, and I have to have a cold drink with a meal, and then I like a cup of tea with desert, and on some days of the week I have a fizzy drink, but still need the hydrating one, so yeah, that’s 3 drinks.........
yes definitely me called out yup yup
I never thought about this but omg this is me
So Relatable xxx
Water and tea
I usually have coffee, water and aoda😊
You said you talk fast, but I didn’t notice until you said so. But I guess yeah, it is a little fast. I am into spirituality and try to listen to Eckhart Tolle and I do like him but it’s painful. So painful. So slow.
Definitely 2 drinks and sometimes 3 hehe
