Fuck yeah, man, that's awesome. I just did 1300 miles in 6 days in my 2005 Grand Marquis Up to Vermont from Maryland camping and snowboarding. It's basically stock with snow tires, and it was climbing tight, steep snowy hills without slipping once. with about 300 pounds of gear in the back. I think I'm gonna go for the 3 inch lift
I got a 2003 with 110,000 miles and would love to do this. Wish gas ⛽💰🤑 wasn't so damn high. She does great on the highway but the city mileage sucks. As I'm sure you are well aware. When I bought her ⛽ was $2 a gallon.FJB!
@@carlgoogle2869 I dont mind its at least cheaper than hotels i put a solar pannel in the back and i have a 12v trucker heating pad and i've slept comfortably in -10f nights. Ive done about 10 or so trips like this. The one time i was gone 14 days. I did stay in a few hotels just to shower and all
@@carlgoogle2869 I just have to replace the transmission at 103,000. $4300 with labor jasper remanufactured 100k mile 3 year warranty. Its at 116,000 got it with 30,000 original miles
@@kosycat1 I bought my Mercury 2 years ago with 95,000 miles on it for $1,500. Then the gas went from $2 a gallon to $5 a gallon here in Massachusetts. I haven't been driving her much but I had to put an intake manifold and it's coming out today. Be careful because the intake manifold is notorious for cracking and leaking antifreeze. I got a 3D printed one for $125 on eBay. It's better than the OEM intake. It would have been almost $500 if I bought it from Ford. The second problem with these cars, is the LCM or the lighting control module. They used crap solder on one of the chips and when it gets older and heat it up it starts to disintegrate and causes all kinds of electrical problems. I had a nightmare trying to figure out what it was. It was causing discharging on the electrical system and my dashboard lights to go on and off. I replaced the battery twice, the alternator twice and replaced the electronic control modulator or the ECM. The whole time it was the LCM and if you Google it you will see that that's a common problem with Grand Marquis, Crown Vics and Town Cars (4.6). There is a guy that rebuilds the LCM for $75 on eBay and Amazon. Very easy to replace. Two bolts and plug and play, just above the gas pedal. Other than that she has been great. I'm going to go right through her. I'm starting to get a little bit of rust at the base of the front fenders from salt and snow but the body is in mint condition. The interior as well. I would like to lift her up like you did and put push bars and big tires. I'm going back into truck driving cross country and soon I will have the money to take her to the top. When the 4.6 liter eventually dies, I'm going to put a 302 carbureted or maybe a bigger engine. I'm going to delete the cats when the exhaust starts to go and straight pipe her. We don't have to pass emissions here in Massachusetts on cars older than 15 years. As far as the lift goes they recently made it very difficult to get an inspection sticker but I will be moving south to a state that doesn't have excise tax or inspections. Good luck with her and thanks for the response. ✌️
You ever think about doing a follow up to this and talk a little about the setup? The suspension lift is my biggest question. Would love to hear about the rest of the set up too :D
Where did you get the lift? Or is it homemade? Also what size tires are those? Been looking at doing this to my 2004 while keeping it reliable for a daily driver

thats a nice vic im looking into installing the 4" lift cups from universal lift kits on mines i just like the ride height im a tall guy and i hate bending just to get in the car
You can do this though most any vehicle the one benefit to having the Ford Taurus PI opposed to a civilian model is they do have a reinforcement structure mounted on top of the sub frame under the carpet from the trunk through to the front seats if you peel up the carpet you'll see it. Makes for a extremely strong sub frame car and the fact that it's 4 will drive doesn't hurt.
good looking build. I have an 05 and want to do something similar. Only thing is the exhaust seems to lower the ground clearance. Does it sit below the frame rails?

You'll be retired from active duty before he replies you...I recently bought a 2001 and it had a small crack in the thermostat area and within a week of driving it to work, that little crack ruptured...yesterday I ordered a Ford Racing Intake so I can drive (Crow- Mag) to work again oncecI get it installed..and then I'm going to Mad Max it out with 33's on the back and 30's on the front..going to add a roof spoiler and trunk spoiler, and modify the front to look like the special pursuit including the big headlight grilles ...finished with a satin black paint job
