Fun to hear Line again. And IFF is problematic in the Hornet???
IFF is Slow but it works
in RWS, You need to do a Throttle sensor depress x1 over a radar contact for IFF interrogation then it will identify contact as either hostile or friendly
If you immediately STT lock a target without doing this, IFF may not properly interrogate a target and it will stay unknown (BOX).
It's a stupid extra step that delays making that critical first shot if you or a teammate haven't properly IFF radar contacts. In dogfighting against FC3 players who don't need to do this, it costs time and maybe a life
TAKYON -- which means DCS Hornets are like snakes. Kill them first then find out if they're poisonous. Ralfie, it was fine knowing ye.

Hey Ralfi,
I saw from your stream where you were familiarizing yourself with your new setup on the Hornet that you're using the T-50 throttle from Virpil, I noticed your TDC slew movements were kinda awkward in this video. Is that because of the lack of analog stick on the throttle? Does the HAT make it harder to slew the sensor? I'm only just getting into DCS and looking for a HOTAS to buy and I remember you saying in your T.16000M review (which is probably what I'm going to get), that the analog stick on the front of the throttle was much more useful for that function. Also, I'm not going to ask you to upload more, I know that it's not something that is easy and that you can't really control it sometimes. So, I'm just going to say that I REALLY appreciate and enjoy it everytime you upload or stream. Just a joy to watch.
Yes, no slew sensor so I'm using a hat. Virpil has announced and will release a new throttle with updates that include a slew sensor, so that's worth checking out.
@@ralfidude Thanks for taking the time to reply. I figured that would be the case but I don't have any experience with it yet. Virpil is on my wishlist since I discovered them from your first review. I definitely want to end up with a T-50 v2 throttle and stick. If I may ask one more question, just your preference, F-16 or F-18 for both A/A ang A/G?
@@kitt7041 we won't know how the 16 will perform till they release it and the 18 isn't done yet and is missing crucial items like the tgp so i can't say.
@@ralfidude I meant more which plane you liked better. I am a bit more excited for the 16 just cause I prefer it to the 18 but, honestly everytime I watch you go full missile truck with the F-18 I kinda regret that my first module was the Mirage even though it was 50% off and I love the real thing.

Doing a number on a runway like that at the start is more the speciality of an Avro Vulcan, with a few Sea Harriers thrown in for good measure!! Great video once again too, any chance of a Viggen video in the pipeline, learning to fly that at the moment and having a ton of fun flying it too!

Ralfi can I ask why you prefer boresight? Do you use the HMD boresight mode?
It's sometimes a lot more work to try and find a target that is masking, flanking, or whatever it's doing ahead of you. If he's within 10 miles, boresight mode is your go to friend to just automatically lock up what you know exists somewhere right in front of you.
I feel like the guys you were fighting have never flown in DCS before...
They were relying on their datalink the whole time, and we were relying on ours PLUS GCI. It also doesn't help that they have to maintain lock to track, and we don't with the 120s. It's a big advantage for sure, but balanced out by their shit performance. I mean we really have to get within 12 miles to be effective and even then, if they turn around, the missile is pretty much defeated.

Probably sitting as a Tactical Commander, or just as a spectator and looking at the map. Tactical Commander is I believe a part of Combined Arms module.

What it's mean hot or cold boggy?
hot is coming towards you, cold is away, flanking means kinda perpendicular.
Hot Means their nose is pointing towards your Aircraft and therefore more of a threat. Cold they are opposite and pointing away so your nose in on their engines. Flanking means they have stable aspect of 120 to 150 degrees, so in essence they are crossing you either left or right.
Are you guys going up against AI? I can't help but notice that in most of these videos you guys take on a greater number of enemies and seem to come out without a scratch much of the time. Are you guys that good, or is it more that the enemies you're facing don't present too great a threat?
These are players. It depends. Sometimes you have good days where things just fall into place. Other days you are just shit out of luck and everyone is bearing down on you, or you crest over a hill at the exact wrong moment, etc and so forth. We've also been doing this for a while so yeah.

What would you recommend to a new pilot of DCS who has played a shit ton of airRB on war thunder. I feel like war thunder taught me how to dogfight, but now I need to know how to actually fly a plane. Thank RalfiDude.
Look into Flaming cliffs modules, they're simple to use and teach the basics of DCS, I personally bought the F-15C as my first plane and its insanely fun and simple to fly. also they're pretty cheap if you buy them alone, I think the F-15C is 15 USD, so they're very easy to get into and fly!

@@joshuaurbany6468 I agree with Lowbacca, FC3 aircraft have a much more gradual learning curve compared to fully fledged modules. I'd recommend giving the whole FC3 package a try - wait for the next sale and get it 50% off, it shouldn't be much more than a single aircraft during the regular season. No need to buy maps and other things, there's plenty of action on Caucasus.
I came from WarThunder as well (SB) Got the Hornet and the A-10A for a total of 70 bucks and have no regrets. Hornet is quite easy to fly, and it's computers work non-stop to keep you flying.

You're talking about servers that throw you in unrealistic situations for the hell of it in order to keep things fun that you'd never see in real life, but a taxi take off is what sets you off. Priorities I see.
It seems like it's cheating to have someone constantly updating you on the exact location of the enemies and the status of the missiles, though I know it takes a ton of skill to win all of those fights when you are outnumbered.
That's the power of GCI for you
