Fantastic weather crossing over. It's an expensive trip but well worth it when the weather is good. Bembridge has a lovely sandy beach and a nice little harbour. Well worth spending a day there
I LOVE the Isle of Wight - havn't been for years though. Such an un-hurried place. That Museum looks good, and yes, I still have a tin of grinding paste like the one you pointed out. Thanks for taking us along - have fun 🙂
When I was 16 back in 1978 I went on my 50cc Suzuki AP50 moped all the way from my home in HIgh Wycombe down to stay with family friends in Hamble near Southampton. I rode all around the south coast then took the ferry over to the Isle of White and rode this dam moped all around the Island. When I finally got back home I had done about 900 miles in the week that I was away. The madness of youth. Unfortunately this was the last time I visited the island - something I must put right soon.
Fantastic Video! I was there the same weekend in our Mini. If you had travelled a day earlier, your ferry would have been full to the brim of Minis and other classic cars haha! Although there was a car and a Mini show going on, I spent all the weekend exploring the different places on the island like you did. I'd never been before but I was amazed at the Island! Particularly the fantastic driving roads which are even better in a classic car! Looking forward to seeing more of your trip!😎👍
@@Alexsassets Totally agree! Military road was something else. Like a shortened, faster version of route 66, its a wide open quiet road which I love! Glad to hear Peggy drove well. Our A-series powered Mini did about 1000 miles over the weekend and didn't miss a beat. I'm already hoping to go next year haha!😆
Hi Alex and Remi, You certainly packed a lot in on your first day on the Isle of Wight, and both looking very happy. I went there some years back now, family holiday, we stayed in a big caravan...did you visit Osbourne House by any chance? The military museum looked very interesting, I recognised that Standard Vanguard as soon as you asjed the question as I had a brown Dinky model of one when I was little... If the pair of you like military and 50/60s stuff you shoukd come to Duxford, really loads to see there. That bent propellor was the result of a nose dive straight into the sea. The green coach you were looking at was built around '62-'63 and was built here in Suffolk at Eastern Coach Works, Lowestoft, now long since gone, sadly. Thanks for saving me from wasting money to go and see a theme park rather than a serious museum. Keeps people occupied and makes money from those who think a MK2 25pdr is just "another gun" and cannot be bothered to find out the effect it had in winning WW2, among so many inane remarks,. Great insight into how your generation think. Makes me less sad destroying my historic collection including a DUKW issued to the British Army in 1944. Better destroyed for scrap than just gawped at and poked to appear daring by the thoughtless. No doubt they got funding by claiming to be "A Heritage Centre"

The military road is my fave and brought a tear to my eye this year it was such a beautiful evening and Peggy was driving well x
