The GW scheme was burned into my brain, but this is absolutely brilliant, particularly the skin, though the copper and bronze colors tie in so well! Seems like a fantastic model.
This looks incredibly, thanks for sharing! Could you talk a little more about whether you used any thinners for the main metallics and the airbrush PSI? 20? I’d be terrified to approach this model with the airbrush for fear of spider webbing!
I really really loved this.. the model is one of my faves.. not bought it yet, but after watching this, don't think I'd match this paint job.. love it !! I wonder if you're going to do any OSL in the next vid... hmm
Really Interesting. Loving your content recently about all the different ways to play with metallics. I was wondering, do you varnish your models at all? Or do you make a distinction that regard between Models you'd want to play with and showcase pieces?
Glad you’re enjoying the content! With regards to varnish we don’t make a huge change between display or gaming. We try hard to pick models up via the base when gaming. It’s very much varnish where it’s useful and occasionally for finish.
not had my airbrush long but with your help i am getting there keep up the great work i paint things that i have 3d printed buildings and figures have you not 3d printed anything to paint a lot cheaper the the £100+ for the new GW giant looking forward to your next video
Want to thank you for this video (and part 2). I love S75 paints and have been wanting to try the metallics with my Void Dragon. Stumbled on this and was amazed. I am working through your guide and have enjoyed it immensely, one question I have is why did you choose not to use the S75 Speed Metal (SC66) for your airbrush highlights after the base coast? Do you find the VMA Steel a better fit? If so why? Thanks!
@@cultofpaint I ended up going with Heavy Metal and it worked quite well as the highlight. Your Emerald Alchemy recommendation over really blew my mind. It looks so good. Also took your recommendation of the satin varnish and it really made the C'Tan come together.
@@cultofpaint thanks so much. I guess I didn’t have scale 75 on hand. But I think I can add a pinch of purple contrast and see how it looks I do have a few of Vallejo Model Chrome Ps thanks. I ran lead belcher through an airbrush when I started and found it lost its shine. But perhaps it’s just that particular colour 😅😅
@@cultofpaint do you use a specific ratio of mediums to keep the shine ? Metals medium? Or some gloss varnish ? I find when I run certain metals through air brush they lose a bit of shine/glow
Yeah it is very non gw scifi looking mini. I used my normal airbrush thinner (lifecolour). They don't need much, slightly less than 50/50 and i spray at 20psi through a 0.4mm nozzle.
Whenever I try and airbrush with Scale 75 flat colours it instantly clogs my airbrush to the point where I'm moving away from them and looking at other brands. Are the metallics also prone to this?
The metallics are infinitely better to airbrush with. For teh flat coilours we've found you have to really thin them to get them to flow nicely, at which point we probably just use an alternative. Metallics area breeze though.
@@cultofpaint thanks, I love the metallics but am sturggling with the flat volours as the finish on them bugs me. I have limited space so am moving away frrom them entirely. I dont have the space to keep loads of different paint around. Awesome video as always.
Completely understandable. A big feature of many of the flat colours is how matte they are. If space is an issue you could achieve similar by using an ultramatte varnish.

It surprised me how fun it was to paint. I think we might see some pretty special versions as people get hold of it.
Really nice work on the tintes metal of the body
This has certainly opened my eyes to s75 paints.
The copper or gold sets are well worth it, and a nice introduction to their metallic range.
@@cultofpaint are they hard to use? I can’t remember which ones it was, but they were more like working with oils.
The flat colours take some getting used to, but the Metallics are very friendly, you just need to shake them a lot.
From personal experience, add an agitator and some vallejo thinner to every bottle and shake the holy hell out of it, then its good to go.
Enjoyed the airbrushing - lots of good ideas.
Thanks!
I could sit an stare on this model for hours, the purple-turqoise blend is genius
Such a joy this scheme
Thanks!!
So looking forward to the part 2 of this great video going to paint mine like this when I get mine but with a purple or pink glow
Pink glow would be sweet!
Outstanding
Thanks!!

Stunning, thank you.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
I was going to sleep but had to click on this as soon as it showed up! Keep up the fantastic work. Any tips on improving weathering models?
Biggest tip would be look at real life references.
Scale75 metallic is the bomb!
Agreed!
Awesome!! . I love the process....... copying...... :)
Have fun!
I look forward to the second part. Thanks!!! ;)
This is amazing
That color combo is sssssick.
He's not gonna get missed on the battlefield for sure!

Hi Gary, glad your enjoying the videos. We print and paint as well as purchase kits from manufacturers.
Hey, when is part 2 coming? Really love your scheme and wanting to get the paints to follow the tutorial completely :)
Right here! Sorry we had some upload issues! th-cam.com/video/vuBtU9OyqrU/w-d-xo.html

Thanks Adam. I picked VMA Steel as I know exactly the result i get from it, very fine flake, super shiny etc. Speed would probably work just as well.

What a great video! Sub’d!
Thanks, welcome aboard!
Should I use a metal medium when diluting metals in the airbrush? any recs for alternative metals colours? thanks
I don't. And to be honest i've enjoyed most brands metallics when using the airbrush.

@@niallrichardcurran2466 no, but I'll often add a highlight with brush afterwards which gives that bright reflection.
Did you prime and then give it a solid basecoat using the gun metal?
Hi. Looks very sci fi. Can I ask what you thin your metallics with? Thinner or a specific metallic medium?
Yeah it is very non gw scifi looking mini. I used my normal airbrush thinner (lifecolour). They don't need much, slightly less than 50/50 and i spray at 20psi through a 0.4mm nozzle.
Really love the model. I'm just trying to figure out how I'm gonna transport mine...
Some sort of elaborate system of ropes and pulleys.
Magnetise it
Since s75 paints are really hard to get where I live so you have a suggestion on how to mix a similar effect as emerald alchemy?
GW sybarite green and one of their bright silvers would probably give you something decent.
How do you prevent your airbrushing from going in the hollow parts, inside his body? It is the 20psi?
Generally trying to angle the mini so as not to catch those parts.
Need to add tourmaline alchemy to the recipe in the description guys! haha
Should probably just list "All S75 metals!!"
Awesome job, love that colour scheme, I haven't made mine yet can't decide on colour...but love this 👌👌
really fun mini to paint, you'll love it.
Well we all know cults are WAY cooler then sects. So you have my sub.
Lmao nice job my man. Beautiful word!
Welcome!

Sorry I know this vid is ancient but do you use airbrush thinner, or water to thin your airbrush paints
Airbrush thinner. Vallejo or lifecolour, unless I'm using tamiya paints in which case I use tamiya x20a
How can i create the purple and emerald tinted metal colours with vallejo air metals
dont wnat to buy a whole new range of colours
Mix them in with a silver.
