I just came across your channel yesterday and have finished all of your videos. You do amazing work. Truly impressive. I subscribed after watching the first video. You should have so many more viewers! Keep up the great work.
Nice video. I am currently producing a TH-cam video of “forgotten faces” at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago. This is where Elsie is buried. I will find her grave and capture the image of her headstone and include her story. You have a great style and solid narration in your presentations, keep them coming. New subscriber.
I agree this is a very well constructed story . The points on law enforcement are excellent and valid. They could have perhaps found her IN THAT FREAKS apartment tied up if they'd have widened their scope of suspects. Narrow-minded authority figures botched many a case. Look at OJ and the whole police mess 1994. A good investigative rational mind is key in crime solving. This woman has a gift.
Your portrayal of Henry Darger is so mind-numbingly wrong, I was floored. I'm literally shocked how absolutely wrong you got the facts about Darger. Wow, people that don't know his story wouldn't have noticed but you misrepresented him so badly. You should be ashamed
There is justice in discovering a man is a villain after their death and exposing them. You do the opposite when you use whole lies and deceit to spice up your story.
While I wouldn't say this video is perfect (I would have preferred if she didn't say the full Romani slur) it's pretty clear that she is saying her personal opinion of Darger, not saying it as if it was fact. The "I wouldn't be surprised.." lead in to the sentence makes it clear that this is her personal opinion, not a fact. Now I am not saying you should like the host, just replying with my personal opinion
Such an interesting video-great job! Never heard of Elsie's case. Out of curiosity, I looked up what the value of $50 in 1911 would be in today's money-just about $1350. Edit: $500 in 1911 = nearly $13500.
Amazing video, extremely well laid and explained. I've been dabbling on this case for some time now, this video answers some of the questions that still needed answering. Great work.
Not to make a heated argument out of it, especially since I can see how he looks like a threat and I obviously never knew the guy, but I read about Henry Darger a long time ago and if the page I read wasn't just fabricating defenses for him (which I don't think it was, since it covered everything this video covers and more) then the guy seemed like the absolute last person on Earth who'd kill a child; still very unfit to be a parent, but he seemed sooner to hurt himself than a hurt a kid intentionally. Deeply religious, obviously empathetic to kids who were mistreated and revered little girls like literal angels in his gigantic book; to elaborate on that turn for the worse in his story when he lost Elsie's photo, he was angry at God Himself and threatened Him by having the book turn out poorly if Elsie's photo didn't resurface before repenting and trying to turn his book around for the better. There's no concrete explanation for why girls have penises in his story, but the webpage speculates that because of his isolation, he didn't know what girls looked like beneath their clothes and may have assumed they had the same bodyparts he did. I don't believe the page had a reason for why Elsie's photo was so important to him either, but I could see how an abused child like him would be distraught over another child being famously hurt and if he considered his story a bargaining chip with God Himself, he would have likely placed value into that photo beyond it just being a reminder of a tragic child (or at least valued keeping her memory alive so much that he couldn't bear to "have Elsie disappear again"). The violence towards children in the book partially comes from the aforementioned dark period where he was trying to force God to return Elsie's photo and partially because people who are scarred by or worried about something tend to talk about it in their art. I can't PROVE he had nothing to do with Elsie's fate, but I feel "innocent until proven guilty" is especially apt when a theme of this video is making sure we don't judge people by their surfaces. Fascinating video (even if for sad reasons) otherwise, though!
Now while I would say I would agree that the video could have had a few more touches I think she is clearly stating her own speculation about one individual then a whole group of people. Now sure you shouldn't judge someone purely based out of their not normal behavior and you can disagree with her view of Darger
Great video and fascinating story. Know about the life and work of outsider artist Henry Darger, but never heard the purported link with Elsie Paroubek nor the eponymous poem by John Ashbery. Magnificent cat you have and many thanks...
Tunnel vision is very dangerous in investigating crimes. It happens more often then it should. Thankfully there are enough good detectives and scientists who can help narrow down the evidence. We also have some great cold case detectives who have grit and determination to solve cases. It's sad that these cases won't be solved because of the time period they were committed in.
Thank you for your work. This is such a sad story in many ways. I find it sad that so many Europeans either Americanized their names to " fit in" or whose names were changed as they entered the country by those who wrote down their names. I feel a bit Iike you. I'm leaning more towards that he was not Elsies killer. It's horrifying to look back and see the mistakes that both doctors and law enforcement made. In another 50 years, we'll most likely do the same; ignorance and arrogance is long serving. 😔
Your modern bias just really gets in the way of understanding the contemporary setting or reality of the story of the times. I have read other versions of the story that says the possible abductors were Irish vagrants. I am half Irish and you should really be worried more about the truth of the story and forget about the stupid notions of racism. I am sure I am much older than you but when I went to school there were three races. The Roma gypsies originated from people coming from India to Europe. Maybe you need to travel more and stop thinking of everything in terms of racism which is so trite and overused that the truth is constantly blurred and skewed. You should also probably read some ancient literature to begin with and then go through all time periods to understand there’s nothing new under the sun and people are evil and do horrible things no matter what ethnic group or race they are where they live or what the times are. In short you just need to stop with the racism narrative to frame your story it - it wrecks your video.
Oh so the organ grinder or Kinesti or Consela are all possible suspects in your mind? Please tell us the ethnicity of each of these people and then I will call you a racist against each of their ethnic groups. Is that how you want to play everything? Other than that I think your video is really really good just drop the racism junk, would you?
To prove my point why don’t you make a video about the races and the ethnic groups and the perfect human group or groups who do nothing wrong and never sin and never commit any evil acts. I am probably 30 years older than you and I just cannot stand how everything is framed in terms of racism. You young people need to stop it stop it stop it!!!
I’m so glad I found your channel!!! I hope you’re still making videos❤️
What a case! I love how you always do extensive research and connect the story with broader topics. Thanks for sharing it!
May God bless you and protect for taking the time and money to purchase gravestones for Elsie's parents. What a wonderful gesture.
I'm really glad I came across your channel, I love the old vintage cases, could watch them all day! Thank you, new sub!

Darger would not have even been able to speak the same language as Elsie. She spoke only Czech.
Just found your channel, thanks to faces of the forgotten. Looking g forward to seeing more
Very nice out of the past! Story well told. Thanks for helping bring to light missing and murdered children.

Thanks for the story and you’re good at telling it
Young lady you are very good! Thank you!!

@@batespatric Completely agree! He did not deserve this. I hope everyone who watches this video actually looks up Darger and finds the truth
yep. including Henry, this video is full of inaccuracies. she obviously had a narrative to paint here.

Her tombstone says that she was 4 years old, when she died.

My family are Macedonian/Greek Roma. I just love it when people blame Gypsies for child abductions.
very interesting! Job well done! I was sent to you bu Faces of the Forgotten!
I am from Chicago. I have never heard about this case. Interesting.

I love these old crimes. Going all over the world right? poor kid...
Wonderful video
Excellent as usual. Do you have a podcast? If not - You should.
Such a beautiful child, all that she could be was so viciously cut down!! May you rest in peace Sweet Child. You are now with your beloved family
Subscribed. 🙏🏻💗
thanks. Lillian is my grandmother. She went on to have 7 kids.
If Henry Darger was creepy and dangerous, how come his grave states 'protector of children'?
There are no coincidences.
A 3.5 mile chase on foot? Those police were in shape. McWeeny is a last name I would change!
Yes. Add an S and it would be McSweeny and that is a common last name.

We need podcast please please please
Hopefully this guy got it in the end..
At this point in time the Czech Republic didn’t exist yet, it would have been a part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.
The same theory was immediately posed (due to witness testimony) in Ben's case in Kos, Greece. It hasn't been proven nor disproven.

Why would her teeth be dark? She is a young child.

I don't think she did that at all.
Agee with you, I felt that it kind of detracted from the video and the victim
Could the Artist Henry Dagger be the Muderer

your vocal fry is almost as unbearable as your inaccuracies.
Oh good an SJW true crime channel!/s
