Creating a short film to breakdown the process of creating the short film the character in the short film is creating around them. Man. This is beautiful.
I’m 71 years old and have created my own still images and video for my ranch brokerage business for 20 years now. As I begin to retire, I hope to use all this gear I have (mostly Lumix now) to create videos depicting the hard life on large Western ranches. I want to thank you for sharing your amazing creations. I’ll never be as good as you, at this point in my life. But as long as I am able I can work toward that goal. Thanks again. Jim in Oregon
Why can't you be good? This video highlights the simple fact that creative ingenuity supercedes gear. Or, put another way, how to use the gear you already have to answer creative questions. Unfortunately, the TH-camr camera influencer crowd has taught people to be better emotional consumers rather than better creators. What's being shared in this video is time-tested knowledge, experience, and trial and error that's been around longer than you have. He's not sharing anything new or breaking open new paradigms. He's simply sharing the correct knowledge, making a conscious decision not to sell out in favor of doing the artform it's due justice. You can not use your age as an excuse. I'm 51, and I've been creating since a child, I see no reason to stop now. Hurdles and setbacks, and shifting priorities are all part of life. I might as well see it all the way through it till the end. This is the attitude you must embody. An expansive one over a reductionist one. There is NOTHING a number that can inherently stop you unless you're in hospital on your death bed. JUST. START. CREATING. The more you do it, the more you give yourself the opportunity to fail, to learn, and to grow. I'm sorry, but all the gear in the world can't and won't give you that. It does a better job at making you poorer and more pretentious.
I watch a lot of content about light and creating cinematagrophic videos.I think I've seen absolutely everything. And because of which such content starts to get boring everyone is somehow “Inspired by each other” and because of which I often see similarities in their content. But seeing you I can say....This is absolutely flawless.
Please never change your stye, One of these days you are gonna blow up and gets millions of followers I just hope you don't give in to the hype trend and just continue and grow and experiment with this style because what you are doing is so unique and rare. You, your work, the team behind it, everything about this channel is so brilliant.
As a fujifilm user, I look forward to every video you post. I am a simple man, I see it and I click it. I listen, take notes and apply. If I fail, I try again. Thanks for inspiring many of us @Ermia ! The fact that you used thypoch lens to do this is insane. It helps me to understand that it is not about the Gear, there are so many elements in Cinematography that needs to be explored. By the way can we clap for the Actress?! She is amazing in every shot, her acting conveys your narration so well. Every single detail is purposeful and masterfully done.
Cinematography was never about the camera. It was and properly still is about what's crafted in a very intentional way to evoke a reaction from the audience outside of the camera. Everything outside of this intention is videography. As a cinematographer, the words "run and gun" should never part your lips. There is no "run and gun" on a professional production, so if you aspire to create on that level, and I don't mean budget, you must think like a cinematographer instead of a videographer. Yes, a-list cinematographers hire expensive camera setups, but that's because they have the budget and incentives with rental houses and special relationships with camera brands. More importantly, crew to operate all of it. Most ppl don't have access to this. But we all have access to think like a cinematographer and use the tools available to us. Contrast. In your light layers, in your color, in your depth and in your visual metaphor. These are the things you should strive for in your frame. All, or a few, or just one. Videographers don't think like this. They point and shoot. This is why they want all the bells and whistles in a camera and 15678 stops of DR. They're trying to compensate for a lack of intention. If all of this sounds like a lot of effort, time, and energy, you are correct. There's no other way around it. It's possible then cinematography isn't for you.
I've been watching camera and DP stuff videos on youtube for a very long time and your channel is by far the best one. Not even a close competitor. Are you still in Turkey or was it for a paid job? My god.. You are doing everything right in every single video.. As they say in the schools... "Show... Don't tell" .. what a channel!
Bro, this is the video I’ve been searching for the last 10 years on youtube. And I’ve done filmschool. My focus is in writing and directing and cinematography has always been an artform that was too abstract for me, couldn’t grasp, Your video is simply amazing. Thank you! Continue your great work brother
I’ve watched all your videos countless times, and they’re not just amazing they’re shaping my skills and fueling my growth. Your work truly inspires and pushes me forward. Keep it up, legend!
The significance of set design and location in crafting cinematic imagery cannot be overstated. As cinematographers, it’s essential for us to enhance our focus on this critical aspect. Even the most advanced camera and lenses will fall short if the setting lacks intrigue. By prioritizing interesting environments, we can elevate our visual storytelling and create more compelling narratives.
I'm just absolutely stunned by your videos. The incredible amount of thought and preparation that go into these, not speaking of the insanely high quality of production. Just unbelievably good.
Ermia/mEria IMO this is the best approach when it comes to tutorials. Especially the part where you explain how you study and break down scenes, shots of other creators, is the most essential lesson to everyone out there. And info about your lighting setup is short and precise, not long and boring blah-blah. It's a matter of time before your videos are sponsored by the big names (no pun intended for Milanote which seems to be a precious tool I hadn't heard of). I don't want to congratulate you. I want to thank you.
@@ermiaramez976 Keep up the spirit man! Continue producing inspiring and educational content. I’ll be the first to watch it, and can’t wait for the next one!

...and this is just the tutorial. I'm sure we will be seeing this name in Hollywood (if it's not already). Amazing video and fantastic way to pull people into learning something that many channels can teach, but with a unique perspective. Love the storytelling.
This is probably one of the best videos I’ve seen that explains how to light a scene while bringing the lighting to life-wrapped up as a mini-film where those same lessons are beautifully applied.
Hey Ermia, I have to say this.. your videos are IN-CRE-DI-BLE! Even though it's always the same girl doing similar things, she's so good at it and I just can't get enough of it! Looks like a legit movie set! I love the edit, and the whole concept with the writting, the words, always in the action.. It's excellent! Especially when you show off different cameras, by redoing the same kind of cinematics with the same actress and location is a proof to people that you can achieve very similar results with pretty much any camera now, and knowing what you want to achieve first and then ''control'' the light is always the key. I would add that controling what you show in your frame is just as important (and you do it amazingly well). Please keep doing these videos! 💪 Sooo inspiring!

Great video, cleverly showing the story developing with amazing shots and folding in almost BTS type footage and thinking. Nicely done including the deleted scenes. Thank you, fab.
This video is easily in my top 5 2024. Even the ad was exactly how I expect it to be. Perfectly done, non intrusive and actually useful part of the story. The only thing that threw me off a bit was your male narrator voice while the story was depicted by female. Its first video I have seen from your channel and Im not american so it striked me as odd and bugged me for a bit. But the actress was so good especially with her facial expressions I let it go fast enough. Great job Ermia!
💯 i always tell people that just starting and asking me what is the best camera to get. I tell them to learn lighting first. Correct lit shot on the crappiest camera will look better than the crappiest lit shot on the best camera. Like a painter with brush, photographer paint with light. Awesome channel by the way. Amazing work!
Incredible video, really inspiring. One thing I’d love from channels like this is overlays showing settings such as WB, shutter angle, ISO, aperture, lens etc… It would be interesting to see the creative process in camera vs the grade.
Thanks man! I shared a bit about these in previous videos before. Usually the lenses will be mentioned in the video, the ISO is always on the Native ISO. And the aperture on the widest
Who the hell are you man! Freaking good quality.. and narration was top class. The way you presented this really looked like it's from a hollywood movie. The music and your voice was soothing to listen.
@@ermiaramez976 Nope. You do not listen to that. Charm is not only about the loud or funny person stealing the limelight in the center of the room. Charm is also found in the quiet, dark corners where few dare to play. You stay 100% you. Everyone and everything has a captive audience. Your voice is completely on brand.
Your content, voiceover and the model/actress are a fantastic combo. She does such a great job with movement, expression and holding interest in each scene while the voiceover explains what you want the audience to know. I'm so glad I came across your channel. This is really going to help with my content's production value. Thank you.

Thanks man! I shared a bit about these in previous videos before.
Usually the lenses will be mentioned in the video, the ISO is always on the Native ISO.
And the aperture on the widest
Give us a short story! NO narration. I love what you do. I cant wait for more.
A love letter from someone who just bought their first cine camera.
Who the hell are you man! Freaking good quality.. and narration was top class. The way you presented this really looked like it's from a hollywood movie. The music and your voice was soothing to listen.
Wow thanks man! Usually people pick on my narration for being too quiet 😂
@ermiaramez976 😂 But I love it. Keep rocking bro. Truly inspiring me to do something like this.

Nope.
Thank you.
So happy to hear that, bud! Thanks for watching
An inspiring piece of work every time! And the way you deliver the content…both visually and the sound design is fire. Moody is amazing as well.
Awesome as always, Ermia! You two are absolutely killing it! ❤🔥
Thanks a lot for still watching, Aziz!
