iniBuilds A300-600 Tutorials: Episode 3 - ILS Approach and Landing [4K]

- The third episode in our tutorial series tackles Descent, an ILS Approach and Landing in the iniBuilds A300-600R for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
It also re-highlights a bug experienced by many currently resulting in issues on approach/STARs the same as SIDs so I discuss how to tackle that if you get caught with it yourself until inibuilds fix it.
This was recorded as a flight during Storm Henk - with winds gusting in excess of 40kts making for a wonderfully sporty approach and landing! I hope you enjoy it!

I've been flying commercially for 18 years, and you're better than most of my instructors. Thank you so much for such a well-paced, helpful guide to learning the A300!
So helpful. Thank you!
Wonderful, thank you very much! 🤩
What a wonderful video👍🏼! Thank you so much for it. In every phase of your flight I expected you to do the necessary tasks like switching or pushing etc - and you did it all in the right place at the right time! Really professional handling! And so it was wonderful to enjoy your video. And I am sure that any new pilot (beginner) can follow your tasks and will be able to fly this aircraft successfully👏🏼 So thanks again and I wish all the best to you✌🏼Bo 🇨🇭-> more videos please😁🙏🏼
Great to hear Boris, thanks! 🙌 Happy flying!
Hi just bought this aircraft so your series has been very helpful thanks!! A word of warning for those with the latest release. At 13.33 when you describe changing to a selected speed from profile by pulling the knob, this will not work in the latest release if you have the DH selected. It will work fine with no DH entry. It's a confirmed bug being address in next update. Needless to say I lost a few more hours of my life which I won't get back with the issue!!! Keith
A frustrating bug that was introduced in the last update 😅 let's hope it's solved asap
Love the videos. Quick question for the GSX, is that marshaling service part of your scenery add on or GSX? I recently got GSX and sometimes there may be a human but I haven’t come across the panel indicator like you had in both airports. Thanks!
I don't see a TOD Icon on my screens... What have I done wrong?
Great video! What is the addon you use to show your touchdown point and descent rate?
It's the landing rate widget on flightsim.to for Parallel 42s Flow Pro addon
First.Thanks for the video 👌
What button do you have configured for AP disconnect? The assignment I have for all other planes (SET AUTOPILOT DISENGAGE) doesn't work for the A300. Thank you for the great tutorial.
Autopilot Off
@@BritishAvgeek thank you 🤩
Very helpful but on my first flight I found I couldn't set speeds while in Auto Thrust. Was just having none of it. Any clues as to what went wrong?
It's a current bug
Cheers@@BritishAvgeek Apparently you can work around it by 'cancelling' the DH window? Is that just to enable callouts?
@@ClevaTreva you have to cancel the DH window and turn DH off to be able to set a speed currently. It's a messy, pain in the backside type bug that they somehow introduced (no idea how!) But they have noticed it and it will apparently be fixed in the next update
Thanks for the tutorials, like your content…..small remark…intercepting ILS can be done at max intercept angle of 45 degrees (not 30)and with x-wind landing keep the yoke into the wind….it almost got you there… 😊
Thanks, 30° is a good "safe" value that a lot seem to use, if I use 45° someone will then try 50 or 60° and ask why it didn't capture 🤣
@@BritishAvgeek yes 30 is safe indeed 😊
how do you activate radar and map ? on nd ?
Weather radar? Turn it on using the switch on the pedestal
How do you determine the Wind Correction and MDA?
Fantastic question - the MDA is in the approach charts so you'll find it there giving you your Decision Altitude or Decision Height.... The Wind Correction depends on the weather. If you're landing on 27L and the winds are 270/10 gusting 25 then if you are flying at your normal +5 vApp, a prolonged gust will give you a higher airspeed so therefore the aircraft is flying slightly slower. When that gust stops suddenly, or swings to a crosswind suddenly your indicated airspeed might drop below a safe speed so you add more speed for wind correction to keep a safe margin, like +10 instead of +5
Thanks for answering!@@BritishAvgeek
@@BritishAvgeek So in your flight, looking at the charts, it makes sense. However, I'm flying into KLCK Straight-In Landing ILS RWY 23L with local alt settings. I have a DA(H) of 940' (200 in parenthesis whatever that means) but no MDA. Would I use the MDA from the LOC column?
@@PB-im9bd the MDA is the DA - 940' (200ft AGL above ground level)
Can you do a tutorial for RNAV RNP approach please?
I've tried 3 times but it still doesn't work very well so until they fix it I can't do it
@@BritishAvgeek amazing thx
These wind landings with the aircraft just lifting several feet in the air is soo frustrating in MSFS...
To be fair with significant gusts that's expected in a variety of aircraft... I see it every day at work at Heathrow
@@BritishAvgeek Oh of course, what i'm saying is that in the game, especially with that plane, it's quite ridiculous. The smallest breeze lifts the wind like a hurricane.
This airplane will certainly keep you busy...
