Here it is! the reason all squarebodys rust! We take apart the truck to dissect the damage and get a good understanding of why they all seem to be rusty in the exact same spots. We still have the drop suspension videos, as well as the bodywork and panel replacement videos coming!

    Just a thought.......
We just had to replace the Radiator support on a 86 Chev K10. I would advise anyone to check for rust and if you find any, spray it, either rust inhibitor paint or mineral oil.
This is a job that will tax you if you are not a regular mechanic or body shop guy. The WORST part is putting the frame bolts and bushings in. And we had to do that AFTER the support was bolted to the fenders and still had to jack the support up to get the bushings in.
    BUT.........
Your vehicle ground for various items and the HEADLIGHTS is on a screw attatched to the Radiator support on the Right side (Passenger side). Note that the LEFT side (Driver side) headlights, courtesy lites and turn signals get their ground by screwing into theRadiator support on the Left side (driver side).
That ground is dependant on the screw or support metal NOT rusting and losing the connections.
This is why some older cars will have a dim headlight on one side of the car/truck.
My suggestion, even if you are not replacing the Radiator support, is to run a wire, connected to the right side ground screw (in the support) and run that wire over the the left side ground screw. Cover the connections and the screws with vaseline or grease to help prevent corrosion.
Now you have a legitimate electrical ground that wont fail even if the Radiator support metal rusts apart.

Don't you know the "C" in C10 stands for Composter. Good job getting all that junk outta there!

Oh man I definitely needed this video! I’m working on the same area of my K20 right now. Let me ask you, on an AC equipped truck, the plastic kick panel on the passenger side of course extends “into” the side of the cab like you can see in your video, and the kick panel has seals behind it. The water that then runs down & over the kick panel, where is it supposed to go then? Is there a drain hole in the outer rocker where it’s supposed to exit?
Thanks so much for the vid & your reply!! 😉👍🏻

Hello! glad you enjoyed it! The large rectangle drain hole is directly below that plastic insert. If that gets clogged then it rusts through to the rocker. Only way to clear it out is to pull the plastic cover behind the front wheel off and look straight up.

You should have water diverted that bolts over your hood hinges. That so called cardboard is not original
