Hi Chris, a bit of an odd one here but I'm a former VFX artist - worked in London for a few years, and would often listen to your reviews while doing so!
If you'd ever like any VFX work doing on your future projects, feel free to hit me up! Would love to help a fellow filmmaker out!

It's a printout of Melanie's first well received film. The fact that he framed her reviews was sort of a suggestion that he still hadn't quite moved on from their relationship and was vicariously living through her success. It got a closeup in a deleted scene when she first walks in the office.

I like how passionate you are and how much effort you put into this film... you are so right in saying that the film industry makes it look one way and people like me who just enjoy movies don't really understand how much work goes into making just 20 minutes of one. I'm blown away and I was afraid of being too critical or impartial, or feeling disappointed or too hyped because I'm a fan of you and your channel but you've made it so now I understand what happens behind cameras and to be able to appreciate films differently...

Excelente trabajo Chris...

If Auditorium 6 is a hit, then make a sequel Auditorium 7 already!
Also, where is the pentalogy before that?
Lmao. Anyway, just continue making films and improve upon your flaws. You have our support.

We told Tommy Wiseau the same thing, but he comes back with his movie all the time.

Love your vision for film Chris. A good short film that accurately reflects your views on current films being too redundant or I've seen this before but with a new paint job on it. I love watching something different and thank you for sharing it with the TH-cam community. Continue your great work

Hey Chris, my gf and I have been watching your channel for 6 years.
Notes from Melanie was a lot of fun and I was genuinely laughing throughout. The ending was a great surprise that gave the film a heart.
I am not saying this movie made me come to a sudden realization of life or anything, but it definitely made me feel something. And to that I say good job Stuckmann and team.
Looking forward to the next one

This was great! I liked the film, the performances were great and I enjoyed the script for the most part as well. I think the closeups at the end did exactly what you were going for.
It's very interesting to hear this audio commentary, too. Thanks for releasing both for free, and good luck on your filmmaking journey! Looking forward to whatever you do next :)

One of the best shorts I’ve in a long time, I died of laughter everytime Flickinger was on screen. The camera did move alot during still shots, didnt detracted from the moment but still worth addressing. Besides that it was very well crafted short I cant wait to see what happens with the feature.

Congratulations! This is legitimate, no doubt :) Loved seeing the start of the credits ;) The only critique/observations i feel confident in making are:
In the first half of the movie, when they're seated and He's still excited about His recent ideas, the characters have a lot of small twitchy movements. I felt that it was fairly distracting when the camera was pointed at either of the characters at the used distance/framing and the character was conversing in an animated manner but the camera was also twitching/shaking slightly. I personally would've preferred a more stable camera during those moments.
9:48 The insight into the female character that You explain starting here- i missed that entirely. There was dialogue about Her having had an interview a year ago and "things having taken off since then" but perhaps there should have been a brief exchange about what She's been doing very recently/currently at some point too. I didn't think about it at the time but the impression i got was that She wasn't necessarily even in the film industry since She had seemingly mastered Film with Her first success right out of the gate. That possibly He had gotten in touch with Her simply because She'd proven to be talented and He's comfortable with Her.

I was so happy watching this the first time. It's simple, but it's so fun and intelligent. So glad that you got this chance and that you're moving forward in your film making career. Let's hope we get to see something on the big screen soon. Also can't wait to see Auditorium 6 and everything else you get to make in the future. Very proud of you Chris. Keep going at it

Î really enjoyed this and thank you for your commentary, Chris!
One thing I noticed about my own viewing behavior is that I kept anticipating a huge twist, because they were talking about twists and "what makes a movie epic", I thought it would become this Inception-like mindfuck. Especially when they said another script had only come together when they switched the characters around, I thought it would become very meta and change the two main characters (ie a switch to reality/waking up from a dream trope) where the girl was struggling and the guy was successful etc. I'm not sure if that's because you're a critic and when the short turned out to be about making movies, I expected it to be extra meta. Or if my mind's just been messed up by blockbusterHollywood productions, which would kind of be a point of Notes from Melanie. But it did take me a second viewing to appreciate it for what it is without trying to 'guess the twist'.
Anyways, enough rambling. I look forward to seeing more of your work outside of the reviews, Chris! I was just talking about you tonight (telling my roommate that every good horror movie we ever watched was a recommendation from you) and it's just great to see what you do and how you grow.

I know this film is low budget. And I loved how you embraced that and ran with it. Using the limited film time and limited film space, you use B-movie rip-offs as a way to translate that, and it really worked. You clearly know how to make use of what you have and think outside the box. An IMPORTANT skill directors need to make this stuff. Well done!!!

@Chris Stuckmann Thank you for this movie. I come from an engineering background but your reviews gave me insight into the films. I was especially surprised when I noticed that you have filmed it handheld which i wouldn't have noticed had i not seen your reviews where you discuss it.
Hope you find success in your film making journey and keep making reviews for us all :)
