- In this video I show the process of designing a compliant leg for my robot quadruped project.
I use a 3d printer, an Arduino and a complete lack of knowledge and skill to build it. If you liked the video and you're into robotics, electronics, 3d printing, Arduino, coding, computer vision, python, lego or boston dynamics, or you like youtubers like stuff made here, built IRL, the hack smith then be sure to subscribe for more

This is really cool and it's great that you compiled all this in a very short video. Can't wait to see the rest of this!
I learnt more in three minutes than in a week. It really just boils down to the resource and the creator
i generally consider myself to be a pretty smart feller, but you're figuring this stuff out way quicker than i would have. bravo.
Hell yeah, a bigger project made in a series sounds really neat. Also those Lego sound effects are hitting nostalgia hard
So glad I've come across this. Your stuff is really helpful
Mate! The potential this channel has is huge! Love the content! Please keep it up
This seems like a fun project to follow. I hope it goes well!
i like that its a short vid, its to the point and such
Looking forward to seeing this develop.
I had seeing your video for first time and your work is very fun and interesting
Very nice project!
Nice explanation. Great video
Looks sick man! I’m finishing up on my robotic arm and then ima start the same project.
So cool 😍 loved this one:D
Amazing production quality! Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Thankyou!
@@adambeedle brother how much it cost you to make this???
please answer!!
WOOO that's really cool
gotta love the lego quadruped
woah bro, i loved the mechanics, i would love to see the final result, but for now, eagerly waiting for your next vedioooooooo!!! by teh way, i loved your spider robot❤🖤🤍
Great job, can't wait to see what comes next. Would love to see a bit more of what happens during the prototyping process, maybe something to think about. Great video though
Thanks! And good suggestion, I’ll try and include more of the trial and error in the next one 👍
@@adambeedle sounds cool, good luck
Cool are there two servos at hip or just one ?
Nice project, Any information about forward and inverse kinematics?
Very nice. I have some servo laying around. Could I copy your design?
When you get famous, don’t forget about us in the comments! Love ur vids keep up the great work!
Thankyou!
hey, I have been watching your videos and wanted to build one such you were working on. I'm from india and can you please give me any leads like what is the list of items I should be ready woth lims the chip you used, and motors used gor leg joints and everthing as complete guide...
I'm not having 3D printer.
What did you use to create it
I'm curious, if I want to make a quadruped robot that can control the robot's walking and CoM balance, how do I need to be to drive the motor? Position control, speed control, and force control? Also, does my robot control system need to refer to the MIT Cheetah open source control framework?
What app do you use to creatividad the leg
Awesome, would you provide STL file
🔥
Really nice video, will you be using Ros for the future?
Thanks! And don’t think I’ll be using it in the next episode as I’ll be finishing up the hardware, but might have to get into it in the next one!
@@adambeedle I think you should try to put ball-bearing on the lower leg and to reduce weight try 3d printed bearing like this th-cam.com/video/_MIx_vN2Dtk/w-d-xo.html
Please Share 3d or 2d image of that legs with measurement.
Sir I am also trying to make this quadruped can you please provide me with the dimensions you used .
Hello, this robot dog seems much lighter than the spot micro. Can you share the STL files?
How did you connect the servos to the 3d printed parts without it slipping?
I inset the servo horns into the 3d prints, rather than try to print the grooves in the print, as i find pla's not strong enough and they come loose
Little confused on how the springs act in this design. If they are wrapped around the support rods, wouldn’t they just move with them without being put under tension? Maybe I misinterpreted the design haha
Hello there!!! I am too working on a similar project for my final year in clg!! Could you please share me the CAD files so that i can print myself!! Thanks in advance!! Have a nice day!!!
Can u share the leg design link ?
Coukd you turn this into a prosthetic leg for a 3 legged dog? Rear leg. Just needs to activate when he presses down. Strap onto his thigh.
Hey! I am interested in making this as my next project, so would you be kind enough to provide me files of the 3D design. I will be waiting for your reply. Thank you!
What servos did u use and where did u buy them? Also awesome build!
Thanks! I’m using mg986r servos, and I’m using them because I already had some haha
@@adambeedle I am using these servos now, but they are not working with my code... all other servos I attach work? I am using a Arduino uno is that powerful enough for this type of servo?
@@agg1306 probably not, you'll want to get a separate servo driver board with its own power connection
Hi ! Can you send me your solidworks file for the legs please. I would really need it for a school project. I would be greatful. Have a nice day
Hey! You're nice, you respond to people, what do you call those pieces you built the frame out of? I want that exact frame!
Thanks! It's meccano - a metal construction toy, pretty useful for things like this
Excellent! Thanks mate! I get to say that kind of my dads from Kent.@@adambeedle
I'm confused about how the compliant link works. Does the sprung version of the link have an inner link that's the same as the rigid link? When you back-drive it at 3:25, the spring is extending but what's happening inside the spring?
There's a rod within a pipe inside the spring, which keeps it rigid, but also allows it to expand
@@adambeedle Thanks for the quick reply! Were you able to get the 3d printed pieces slide against each other well without binding? I noticed that the video after this where you had the whole quadruped assembled didn’t have any springs.
could yyou please uploade the 3D printing files? Pls
Can you install the a.i dart gun on your robot when it's done?🤔
You’re a madman
@@adambeedle 😄
Plz tell me which software you used to design the leg
Solidworks
@@adambeedle thanks a lot bro
I tried this but my leg doesn't move in a smooth straight line did yours do this? do you know how i could fix this?
If it's jittering it may be a power issue?
@@adambeedle it doesn’t jitter it’s just that one of the motors needs to move less on most moves so the end point doesn’t move on a straight line.
What size servo is that?
MG995
3D print model sent
Where can i find the STL's? im using the 9G servos (ADEEPT AD002 Micro servo) with metal gears and would like to make this a project.
this is tooo quickly and music!
