My 17 year old sister was forced to watch the movie with me, and she hates Sonic. She cried during the scene where Sonic and Shadow were sitting on the moon. This movie really affects everyone.
Can we talk about how our boy Tails literally risked his life burning up in the atmosphere or falling to his death to save Sonic? It really looked like he wouldn’t have been able to fly in that scene, not while also hold Sonic, so he literally put his life on the line to save Sonic. We’ve come a long way since Forces but it seems they’ve finally fixed Tails. The movie franchise has been one of Tails’ strongest portrayals in the entire series. Let’s hope they don’t ruin his character again.
@@davidkrappenschitz5749 i love Tails, especially Movie Tails. He looks up to Sonic (and maybe Knuckles), and feels so grateful that they have a team together, and he cherishes that so much, to the point where he tried to stop Sonic and Knuckles from fighting, and risking his life to save his hero's. Sometimes we forget that he's just a little 8 year old fox that loves Chaos Garden and looks up to his big bro 😭
@@jakaiyxszn The best part is that they actually hide stuff on the trailers Spoiler for people who didnt watch ahead: In the Second trailer the last bit where shadow says "This ends now" he is in super form on the movie, they made him normal on the trailer to not spoil it
I find some contrasts interesting. In the game, Tails was the one who was angry and wanting to kill Eggman when he thought Sonic was dead. In here, Sonic is the one who gets angry when someone is injured. In most recent content, Sonic is the one who is most willing to work with Eggman while the others are often more reluctant. In here, Sonic is the one who is reluctantly accepting it.
22:18 that was kind of the point though, earlier in the movie Maddie says, hey let’s just use the master emerald to break into gun HQ and sonic says it’s only a last resort. But after Tom got punched by shadow, sonic was so rage filled that he just took it, the unexpected part was that he didn’t know shadow could use it too.
To think 5 years ago, we were shocked and disappointed that the trailer of the 1st Sonic movie trailer of the 1st design was a complete disaster for the movie, and now, 5 years later, the Sonic Movie was completely Outstanding game adaptations we Ever watched.
@@Dmarkea315 no i was talking to a deleted comment.. that said "Erm, not to be a nerd, but the quote is actually "HATE THAT HEDGEHOG" so i was recorrecting them. Must have deleted the comment after i replied lol
28:48 Sonic shouldve def said something in honor of shadow like he did in sa2, big missed opportunity for one last line from sa2 "sayonara Shadow... The hedgehog"
While I agree with it feeling like Shadow's sacrifice isn't as impactful as in the games, one has to factor the context in which both portrayals were made: SA2 was made to be Shadow's only game. The epilogue putting so much emphasis on his sacrifice it's because it was meant to be the last we saw of him. It's emotional and has a heartfelt closure because it was indeed meant to be a closure. The movie tries to pull the same thing but it is fully aware that after the credits roll they are gonna reveal Shadow made it just fine. I think for the purpose of not wasting time on crying a river on Shadow's supposed end, Sonic and co. just touch upon how Shadow did manage to find a choice besides revenge, tying to the words Sonic said to him at the moon. It's weaker, yeah, but making the audience invested in a character death they are gonna undo 5 minutes later was something Paramount and the team probably was trying to avoid. You can feel the contrast between Eggman's sacrifice to Shadow's since they probably wanted to give closure to Eggman in the case Jim Carrey decided not to join for the next movies, so they invested more on his character arc and closure.
The thing with that is they had a chance to get rid of all of it but they still chose to add some of that in there, there isn't a whole subplot thankfully but when you think about Maddy and Tom were literally useless, for example them infiltrating GUN instead of turning into randel and Rachel they could've turned into Rockwell that entire time and got passed security with no questions and we wouldn't have had that cringe interaction of "getting ultra nasty" better yet Maddy and Tom weren't even needed for that infiltration, the shape shifting devices Tom and Maddy had on were literally capable of turning Tom into a dog I think it's very reasonable to assume that they could turn a anthropomorphic hedgehog fox or echidna into a human being, and it would've been perfect bc they could've had them turn into their actors giving them some screen time, then at the end of the whole infiltration Rockwell is just forgotten about never mentioned again, and they just let the 5 people who illegally infiltrated their top secret vault go scott free no questions asked, there was just alot of needless scenes that could've been replaced with something useful like explaining stuff or giving more pacing to something, literally Tom and Maddy were just pieces dangled in front of the audience that everyone know one of them was gonna get hurt and that's literally all they were ever set up for, when that could've been anyone else
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is absolutely the perfect Sonic movie and I love every minute of it so much so that I have already watched it 4 times. There is so much fast pace action as the movie just goes from one action scene to the next. I love how Sonic Tails and Knuckles work and function much more as a team. Kenau Reeves did a perfect job voicing Shadow and you could feel his emotion with every line. Jim Carry was super funny and the overall story was very fun to watch especially the last 20 minutes of the movie. My entire theater laughed and cheered and seem to really enjoy the movie a lot. I do think that the movie could of added a few extra minutes to better transition sub plots so we understand each scene instead of rapidly going to the next scene. This movie is easily a 10/10 and the best Sonic movie yet.
We do need to keep in mind that this movie was still in production during the big strike. They said that they would continue filming scenes, just without actors. That's our explanation for there being less screen time for humans in the movie.
I felt like the pasting with Shadow being awaken was a bit too quick and I wish they took a bit more time. I feel like the London part was a bit boring. Also, I find it weird how Sonic’s friends are barely in the final battle. Gerald coming into Sonic 3 was a bit weird and they never explain how he is still alive. The post credit scene was INSANE! I can’t wait for Metal Sonic and Amy in Sonic 4. Sonic 3 is a great movie but has a few problems during the movie but it’s still a good movie. I would give this movie a 8/10.
There's a handful of people that live to be over 100. Plus, Jeff Fowler stated there was a deleted scene explaining this: I think there’s a lot of questions from the fans how this can even be possible, because the story of Shadow and Gerald and Maria is happening in the early 1970s, and then 50 years later, he’s out there. There’s [deleted] scenes where we’re seeing him take little hits off a Shadow quill the same way that Robotnik takes hits off Sonic’s quill. The idea was that that chaos energy was having a revitalizing effect and that energy was keeping him alive and sort of rolling back the effects of time a little bit.
@@dynamicyouthtube Jeff also gave a reason why it was cut: That was a very minor storytelling detail that we did have some material that we shot to explain it, but ultimately just the movie is so packed with characters and with storylines it just felt like anything that wasn’t absolutely essential to the pacing and the flow of the story just had to go. So that was something that we filmed.
I loved the movie! But the only thing i hate about sonic 2 and sonic 3, is that the Chaos Emeralds were WAY too small, since when did the Chaos Emeralds live inside the Master Emerald, and WHEN did unlocking the eclipse cannon require two keys?
Now I get why you took your time reviewing this film, it means more to you than just views on the algorithm. Thank you for your thoughts, this means a lot to me too. I will never forget when I got Sonic Adventure 2 for Christmas that year.
Exactly, wanted to make sure I covered everything, and not just rush to be first for views there will always be more to come in the future. If people support me and like my stuff, they'll watch. If not, it is what it is! Thank you for watching and taking time to drop your thoughts.
This man has PERFECT taste , he should become the next writer for sonic the hedgehog 4 also WHY IS AMY HERE THE TRIO IS ALLREADY LEGENDARY . Ik that she is an icon but not now dude we have had enough.
This is the best review I've seen of Sonic 3. Everyone else gasses it up without even mentioning the pacing. There is no build up to even Shadow and from his breakout the plot just progresses at a constant rate. And the fact that Gerald was still alive was never explained also. He would had been at least 90 or 100 years old by the time this story took place. Maybe they should have explained that Shadow's quill kept him youthful through chaos energy?
There were definitely a lot of plot holes and minor parts that were skipped over that would have added that cohesion the film was missing. Gerald staying alive due to Shadow’s quills should have definitely been kept in the movie. Also, Gerald just happened to convince GUN to build this world ending device WHILE HE WAS CAPTURED? Why would they possibly agree to that after everything they knew he was capable of with Shadow!? Overall it felt like they needed to stay with some scenes more and do a better job explaining things that happened. I think part of the reason it felt a little disappointing going out if it was because of how much they were building up everything and were expecting a very close adaptation to SA2. With the second movie, it’s clear they were adapting Sonic 2 but they had a lot more freedom to do their own thing with it. With SA2 being a meatier game and a more fleshed out story, not following that as close leaves much to be desired. You couldn’t say anything was missing in the second movie because they hit all the major points (which weren’t a lot to begin with), but with this movie there’s a lot more to compare it to which makes it feel underwhelming. Still a great film nonetheless, but definitely would have benefited from following the story a little more closely.
Yeah I agree with that. I think the plot feels disjointed and not as cohesive. As if we’re watching a highlight reel instead of a full game. Not everything gets fully fleshed out. Also I didn’t talk about it in review but how did tails and knuckles know to save eggman when there wasn’t a resolution to their conflict? Kinda reminds me of frontiers story kinda just abruptly goes to the end as if they ran out of time to finish the story. That being said, despite the issues it’s a fun watch and I think the audience it’s going for will love it. I certainly appreciate the highs of the film, just a few tweaks could have made it reach its max potential
One of my biggest complaints is shadow, never not once said CHAOS CONTROL! And ik they incorporate the chaos emeralds differently than the game but it would’ve been cool to see shadow using an emerald for chaos control. He even did chaos spear but didn’t say it. Also wanted to see him self boast about being the ultimate life form 🙁 but still a great movie
I think he learnt chaos control last minute when he was moving the ARK away from the earth. I mean, how else did he survive the blast? He probably used it to warp away to safety. I think that could be a cool way to bring chaos control into the movie verse, for example there could be a scene in the next movie where Shadow explains how he survived to Sonic or someone
What an amazing review! I agree with every single point you’ve brought up. I also really wish people wouldn’t spoil everything before the movie is even out, it ruined a lot of hype people would’ve had watching the movie blind, so I’m sorry that the people on your videos/streams had to spoil the climax of the film, along with the post credit scenes for you. I want to mention that the last part of your video when you were talking about how newer sonic fans will grow up with this movie, and this franchise, and have nostalgia for it and end up making videos about Sonic like you do, was really good, and It’s awesome to think about. And I just wanted to say, It’s really a blessing to have a very chill sonictuber like you to watch, and engage with in your videos and streams. It’s great being apart of your community! Thank you for being you, and happy new years! May 2025 be another great year for the sonic franchise, and for you!
You say that it’s a negative that they didn’t show off the power of the eclipse cannon before the climax. The big difference is eggman used it as a threat so he can rule the world in SA2. In Sonic movie 3, gerald is alive and he wouldn’t threaten earth with the eclipse cannon, Gerald would just use it anyway, as destruction is legitimately what he wants.
One little problem I see I can't remember where the article was but it was quoted by Jeff Fowler That Shadow was going to be an character whom Sonic wasn't going to be able to reason with and yet Sonic did just that turning him from his vengeful path. Which I think it great Edgie doesn't have to be this edgy personality all the time. Make me hopefully other characters will be better than their videogame and comic portrays to an degree. I'm glad to see Sonic get angry he's not always Mr.Nice Guy like you said he knows when to take things seriously both being angry and vengeful but also merciful and compassionate.
I went to see the movie in Screen X and I would say it was worth paying the extra money because you get to see some extended shots of the movie. It also makes you feel more engaged as if you were there.
super sonic vs super shadow was epic. and it seems like the only reason sonic won was cuz shadow was trying to prove a point to sonic the whole fight that revenge was the only way for the pain to go away and he was gaslighting him into killing him. and when shadow was talking he looked away and thats when sonic struck him and the reason he won but even after that shadow didnt try to fight back he literally wanted sonic to kill him cuz there was no more reason for him to live as the eclipse canon was about to fire and destroy everything and everyone he wanted sonic to get his revenge to prove to him that was the only way but since sonic proved him wrong he changed his mind and saved everyone. ppl dont really pay attention to that but i like how deep the lore was
I agree with literally everything you said. Robotnik saying goodbye to Sonic with a begrudging acknowledgment of all they went through in 3 movies would've been better than the shoehorned in human Agent Stone OC nobody cares about. It's like they can only make Jim stay serious for like 5 seconds before he does a goofy face
Honestly I thought that the farewell to Agent Stone was well done. The biggest problem was that the humour should have been dialled right down during the climactic final battle. There never felt like there were any stakes.
20:44 I agree, I feel a fight between them would've been so fitting as it would really show Sonics anger. Knuckles could say "You are letting pain control you" or something like that. The whole "I swore and oath and yada yada" just seemed like a rush which created a missing scene.
I’m a long time Shadow fan and they got his character spot on. The film was very well done, a few tweaks as it’s the movieverse with a slightly different verson but all the important things were done right. I love the shadow and Maria moments, already seen it three times at the cinema ❤️🖤
Honestly, the movie was good but I would like that fight between Super Sonic and Super Shadow last longer and in the background plays some sick music...with live and learn it was perfect but It can be longer....but all other was peak
(🚨Long Comment Warning🚨) Don’t get me wrong I love the movie. But there’s a few specific things about it that I have some issues with. 1. Shadow never uses Chaos Control. But they might have him do it when he returns in a future movie and it would explain how he saved Eggman if Eggman is also still alive. (Btw Chaos Control and Chaos Snap are 2 separate abilities. One is a time stop and the other is teleportation.) 2. No gun truck scene. (but that’s not really a big deal.) 3. No one mistakes Sonic for Shadow or Shadow for Sonic. Even though they could’ve made a funny scene out of it. (They atleast did point out that Sonic and Shadow look similar.) 4. Shadow only uses chaos spear one time in the entire movie. 5. How are Sonic and Shadow breathing in space. Because sure when Sonic and Shadow are Super I can believe that the emeralds provide them with what they need to survive. But when they power down and are just casually sitting on the moon they realistically shouldn’t be able to breathe. (Yes I know realism is not an important factor in the Sonic universe but still.) 6. No snap cube reference other than the hot topic joke I guess. That’s not really a snap cube reference though. But I assume there’s a good reason for not having a snap cube reference in the movie. 7. They also didn’t really explain how Gerald survived to be 110.
Yeah I disagree with you alot here Knuckles choosing not to fight Sonic is actually really respectful of his charachter and his growth from the last movie. It's also just refreshing that for once Knuckles is the one managing to keep calm and diffuse a tense situation. A Sonic vs Knuckles fight would've been cool but the moment chose to highlight their charachters instead and that's better. Also him going super the first time should'nt have been given that extra pomp he's purely motivated by revenge and being more than a bit selfish. When he does it again later with Shadow there's an actual proper build up because he's doing it for the right reason this time. I also highly disagree about Gerald yes he's a bit goofier but it's really only when he's trying to play up being the perfect grandpa for Eggman. The vicious and broken man from the games is still very present in this movie, plus I love their fight sorry. But point is he's definetly the villian of the movie that accusation was just not true. Eggman being on the recieving end of emotional manipluation was a refreshing change. Jim Carrey has said he always wants to try to do something new with the charachter and I both agree with that and respect it alot.I think alot of this is coming off like whining and expecting it too be too much like SA2.
After watching your video, I loved your thoughts, and really agree with most of them. I loved almost all the characters, Tom Maddie, and stone are my favorites and they were done great. The 4 animals were as well. I was full blown expecting tails and Knuckles to catch back seat treatment but boy was I wrong (glad I was) I love movie sonic, and he was done great here. I enjoy how they had him in shadow connect, utilizing his movie backstory. They references were the best they’ve been here, from the small to big ones shorty put. Shadow was great, and thought I don’t think their is really anything wrong, I just didn’t feel him as much in the second act, as it mainly centered of flashbacks. After he takes out team Sonic in Tokyo, there’s just a lack of something for me, I can’t put my finger on. He was great in act 3, but I still have a problem with the sacrifice I’ll mention In a minute. I truly do think this movie could’ve benefited from more time. When we got the confirmation that it’d be 1 hour 50, I was a bit underwhelmed, but still open minded. It skips a lot and doesn’t let itself breathe a lot.they’ll be going somewhere but kinda stops. I also know that Jim carry is doing his thing, love for that, but I was kinda disappointed. Eggman and Gerald are taken so seriously in sa2, and I was really hoping that’d be reflected here. The scene where Eggman questions his grandfather in the last scene was not only great in the game, but could’ve made it here had the story treated this aspect right. I don’t even hate the idea of Gerald using Eggman and shadow, just wished it was toned down. The dancing scene already had me questioning myself but by the time we got to act 3, I was kinda fed up, especially with the cuts between Sonic and Shadow. Adding on to the runtime bit, I really do wish there was a scene explaining the research the scientist did on shadow. As a fan, I get hyped when the rings come off, but not everyone knows what that means. Even just explaining some of his other abilities would gave been nice as well. Last thing shadow related but his sacrifice could’ve been done better. In SA2, you hear Maria’s voice and his head, and zoom into him as he falls, emphasizing his fate. The last scene makes it stick, with both team heroes and dark mourning his death. The foreshadowing of his death in the previous boss fight and in the final hazard are also nice touches. In the movie version, I often forget about the explosion of the ark being the cause of his “death” with the lack of mourning not really helping. Also, I know it isn’t sa2 the movie, but I really do wish they went all in on what they chose to adapt, as well as adding a bit more. The ultimate life form brag, chaos control, city escape, the faker scene, these just feel like staples to that game that I wish were there. I also understand the target demographic, so certain scenes playing the way they do is understandable. However, at the same time, when you kill or fake out killing your characters and sprinkle in emotional and heart to heart moments, you can’t keep shooting yourself in the foot with the very next scene. Sa2 is a rather serious story, knowing when to sprinkle the goofiness in, but also knowing when to lock in. I just wish that was reflected a bit better, regardless of what needed to be altered. The day I went to say it, my mind was mellowed it. It’s like my brain and body were preparing me for some open mindedness as before the trailers, I was expecting a lot more sa2 focus. I really do love what we got, and glad that when I watched, I wasn’t busy comparing the 2. You hit the emotions on your outro perfectly, this is going to be nostalgic for future gens, and so much fun to talk about at that. It really is a dream come true and not something we should take for granted. I really did enjoy the movie, it was definitely one of my highlights of the year, with everything regardless the super hedgehogs being some of my favorite moments ever. This comment is way too long, so I’ll save the stuff regarding the 4th film and post credits. (I do agree with what was said about Sonics cocky attitude though) Regardless, Thank you Sega, paramount, and everyone who worked on everything up until this point. Here’s to more Sonic, Movie Sonic, and everything in between.
Thank you! Also appreciate you watching all the way through as well because there’s a lot to say. I agree with pretty much all of your thoughts. The problem is not that it’s not “SA2 the movie” the problem is most of what was adapted from SA2 was simply done better in the game. It’s the best Sonic story ever IMO so maybe that set the expectations too high, but some of the missteps could have been avoided. Ultimately, was an enjoyable watch nonetheless and I appreciate the highs of the film and the future of the Sonic movies.
@ I agree, again, you said pretty much everything perfectly. Also, I feel like there’s a lot to cover with sa2 as well, so there were plenty of choices to be made. Definitely still great though, I don’t think I stressed that enough in my original comment. Can’t wait for future videos and the future of the movie universe in general
@@ShadowNinja375 Your comment was interesting exactly the same stuff I thought like the dance scene with robotnik and how Gerald died, personally I know a lot of people say it's not sa2 the movie but still they could have made his death more serious but not too serious that it's dark for kids, but should have at least had some depth into it. Personally for me that was it and one of the main problems I had with the movie.
@ dude everyone was laughing and I was just there like: Really? The journal entries and shadow gens even go out of their way to make him more likable as well.
Awesome review!!! Thank you! I haven't seen Sonic Movie 3 yet. I'm probably gonna wait until it drops on streaming services mostly because I feel more comfortable watching movies at home where I can react to it as much and as loudly as I want without disturbing anyone. I didn't mind getting spoiled at all. In fact, I've seen a few clips from the movie and they left me with so many questions. They really made me want to see more. I felt the moment Shadow sacrificed himself was very impactful. In fact, just like his sacrifice in SA2, I cried seeing that tiny clip. I also saw some clips of the Shadow & Maria scenes and was very impressed by them. Maria and her story were executed beautifully. I think what broke my heart the most was seeing how awful G.U.N. treated Shadow. In the case of this movie, I don't think you have to be a Sonic fan in order to feel the pain of these characters. As you said, it's a family film that everyone will enjoy/be impacted by to some degree. I can't wait to experience it all in full for myself. Thank you for your long, exciting coverage of this movie! You did an exceedingly good job. Time to get hyped for Sonic Movie 4!!!!
I think another twenty minutes was something this movie needed. A bit more time to focus on Shadow, probably. He's side-lined too much for my liking, but when he does appear, he's every bit the bada** we expect. I'm not saying he needs to even be fighting in that time, but rather reflecting on what he did to Tom, expanding upon the thoughts that would naturally lead him to realizing what it was he really stood for. Just a moment of introspection. As someone who semi-enjoyed the Knuckles series in bits and pieces, Wade being this "warrior" Knuckles spoke of is exactly the right culmination of everything that took place in the series. This is Wade's moment to shine, to finally put his confidence to the test, to show his mettle and it hilariously amounts to nothing. In fairness, there's not much he could do in that situation. Firstly, we have a supersonic hedgehog and secondly, we have a furious supersonic hedgehog. Sonic isn't playing around. He wants to pummel Shadow for what he did. As crazy as it sounds, we could have benefitted from a scene or two of the Cannon being built, Gerald taking pleasure in the foolishness of GUN to trust him, the actual plotting of his revenge. Instead, we get him scrawling out the schematics of our doomsday weapon and then being released from prison. Another idea might be giving poor, poor Agent Stone some time to show he wants to be the 'number one' in Ivo's life and not relegated to a babysitter. It's funny, but when Robtonik sends out his message, it didn't feel earned if that makes any sense. Edit: Controversial take, but I would have preferred if Shadow remained dead. This would allow the narrative going into the next film to have more stakes. A potential ally has been removed from the board so to speak, and now it's up to our ragtag group of heroes to finally come together and let Tails and Knuckles fill that gap along with our new character. I would hope that the Master Emerald becomes a more malicious version of itself as the movies go on, assuming the fourth isn't the last one. I'd be so hyped watching Chaos take the stage as the world-ending threat to cap them off. Maybe the Master Emerald being used so many times awakens Chaos, the Chaos emeralds feeding on the user's power, restoring the monster with Sonic and his pals realizing too late that their abuse of the Master Emerald had dire consequences.
Yeah I can agree that even if the run time for the movie is average, I also feel that it needed more time to let the plot sink in for the fans. However I do understand that there was a strike going on when the movie was being filmed so considering that and that they were able to cram everything into only 1 hour and 49 min movie is still impressive. Spoiler warning: Spoilers: I was impressed as to how they worked the whole amnesia thing with Shadow… because he does not have amnesia with everything that happened while he was on earth… he just doesn’t recall where he came from based on what he told Maria.
Ive been playing alot of sonic speed simulator after watching the 3rd movie and I just realised your background and this movie has now made me a sonic fan good review btw 🙂👍
After watching almost all the trailers and TV spots. I just stayed off social media for a week and all the other surprises I wasn’t spoiled for which is awesome.
sonic movie 3 is such a good movie jim carry went all out on this and did 2 performances the actors did well as team sonic and that 1st post credit scene makes everyone hyped for the 4th movie but all i have to say this is a great movie to end not also the year but the fearless year of shadow.
Hey I wanted to ask what do you think about the post credit scenes? What do you think will happen next in the movie franchise? I’d be really interested in analys of the plot. Especially after that incredible mid credit scene.
I definitely was a big fan of the movie, but agree with everything here. Probably my biggest issue was where they unnecessarily strayed from the source material. Sure, Paramount has autonomy, which is fine. But there were just things from SA2 that were changed for no apparent reason, and said changes didn’t really do anything for the plot. Gerald being alive doesn’t make much sense, and they could’ve had the same plot without him. Shadow was a random alien that they did experiments on rather than being Gerald’s creation. Gerald’s research facility was on earth and not in space. And probably my biggest annoyance was leaving out Maria’s illness. I always thought that the fact Shadow was literally created by Gerald in an effort to cure Maria made their connection even deeper and her loss even more tragic. I get that it’s a PG film, but I don’t think the topic of a terminal illness is so dark that it needs to be removed. I just thought these were all pretty major plot points that were changed for no real reason in a way that made the story a little more shallow.
Got to agree, Sonic 3's Eggman, due to having a familial tie, does not feel like the same robotnik from the first two films. I feel like Robotnik, cold and calculating in the first film (with a bit of whimsy and Jim's snark) feels way more like the actual evil, threat Robotnik from older games and tv shows than the Eggman from movie 3. It definitely feels like overall SEGA has been making a laughing stock out of Eggman in the last few years, and he isn't really that much of a threat anymore, and that SUCKS. However, the scene where Eggman goes "WHAT" when Gerald says he's going to kill everybody including them, was gold. You really felt that betrayal. It just didn't pay off after the betrayal in an epic Egg on Egg fight like I thought it would. It was stupid nanofists and a spider-man villain reference and spanking, which felt so childish.
I feel like Jim Carrey could return in Sonic 4 because I feel like Metal will be the main villain and as Neo Metal he can shapeshift. So maybe Neo Metal will show up and mess with team Sonic as Eggman ;)
I really agree with your thoughts on the last act. It's a shame but the final minutes of the Last Story (SA2) felt way more powerful to me than the film. Cutting to people all around the planet rejoicing really made it feel like they saved the day in the biggest way in the series up until that point and Sonic, who initially disliked Shadow, coming around to recognize his heroism and say with confidence that he was a good guy was such a great arc (and all the other rival pairs having their discussions) I really wish movie!Team Sonic had a longer final discussion on Shadow's legacy and sacrifice. Eggman's sacrifice was a phenomenal new addition but outside of that I think something truly special lost with all the cuts and changes they had to make from the source material.
That's the great thing about not using any form of social media. No spoilers. The scene with Metal Sonic and Amy was amazing. Super excited! Oh, and you're wrong about everything you said was bad. Okay, no, just kidding. The emerald part was fair, and the buildup of the cannon is a really good point. Good call. At the end, my brain automatically went to "Sayonara, Shadow the Hedgehog".
I'm gonna use this to write my opinion on the movie, expect a big test(sorry btw): As someone who already watched it 4 times, I honestly love this movie, I think is my favorite in the trilogy, but like you said, it has it's problems. My personal ones are the runtime of the movie, and how little serious Gerald is sometimes. Shadow's past was great, he is the best character in the movie imo, but there needed to be a look on how also Gerald was before the incident, also that with more runtime, I would give him a larger transition from his comic side to his more sinister one, I have no problem with him being comic, is just that once he get serious, he should stay like that imo. Now, comparing it to Sonic 2, the reason why S2 had better pacing with a similar runtime to Sonic 3, is because the story is way more simple in S2, while you explore a little bit of Knuckles past, as well as the lore of the echidnas, there isn't much else to it. Compared to Sonic 3, where you have to explore Maria, the complete internal dilemma that Shadow has, and the complete transformation of Gerald's mind, they are way more complex topics to handle, and with more runtime you could show this, and also pace the movie better, with way better ways to go from one scene to another, Sonic 3 honestly deserved a longer runtime than Sonic 2 and sadly they didn't give the movie that time. I personally don't mind the changes made from SA2 to the movie, since it's not a copy 1 to 1, is an adaptation, and takes inspiration, so I have honestly no problem with that, and also that to me, just add more to Maria and Gerald, Shadow's and Maria's relationship is one of the best things in the movie and man I get so sad everytime :( Besides that, this movie is truly amazing, top videogame movies for me with Sonic 2 and the Mario movie, hope they can keep this up with Sonic 4 in terms of quality
one thing i have to say is. i dont understand why people care about professional reviews like certified fresh when you should care more about fan reviews because they are actually fan's. because most of certified fresh reviews are from people who are not even fan's of the show or movie they review
I just watched the movie and i was wondering why shadow was never called the ultimate life form and i also dont understand his orgin was he created by eggmans grandad or is he ailien?
The only real criticism I have and this might be a hot take, but when Live and Learn played, I was not screaming or just hyped to hear it, just felt neutral and no emotion. Perhaps I did not play Sonic Adventure 2, and I play a lot of Sonic in my childhood so I don't know.
Now we can look into the future for Sonic. It’s actually a bit worrisome for 2025 we only have one racing spin off announced and that’s it… I hope 2025 isint a bland year but maybe 2026 will be the year of Sonic v3
I saw Sonic 3 on Christmas Day, and when I saw it, it was better than I thought it would be. Well, most of it. There are a lot of good things about this movie that I think is pretty good. I like how it takes inspiration from Sonic Adventure 2 and a little of Shadow 05. It was really hard not to get spoiled when you haven’t seen the movie yet. I resisted and the movie was pretty good. The action, the story, the antagonists, the plot, and things like that. Shadow reliving Maria’s moments and his character development. Despite this, I do have a few complaints about the third movie, especially the pacing. With about an hour and fifty minutes of a runtime, the movie honestly only felt like an hour and ten. I not sure if people will agree with me, but I really wanted a three hour long movie. I feel like explaining Shadow’s story should’ve gotten into more detail. The beginning of the movie wasn’t really well pat. I mean, Team Sonic meet Shadow in just like only ten minutes into the movie. And I thought, “Okay, this is not well paced.” Still, I think the run is perfect for the movie, but I knew I was right about wanting to have a three hour movie. But, hey, I enjoyed it. One thing that I also like was the ending. To be honest, I was a little too worried about Shadow becoming the main antagonist for the whole movie and not turning into a good guy. I thought it was end on a cliffhanger or something before the credits. Yeah, movie four is coming, but it would’ve been nice if Sonic 3 was split into two parts, and both running about an hour and fifty minutes long. But, how the movie was made , it made me think my thoughts on what I was worried about. I liked it! It was way better than I thought it would be (except the pacing). I also liked that it had some emotional moments, like Maria dying and Robotnik sacrificing himself to save the world. No kidding, those two moments made me cry, especially the ending. But then again, if you think about it, Jim Carry is retiring, so they had to do the right thing for the character he’s playing as. Jim did a really good job on the movies. He was funny, he was just perfect for Robotnik for these movie. I’m going to miss him as Robotnik, honestly. One final thing I have to say about this movie is just about the movie entirely. After watching it, I don’t know if Sonic 3 is better than the second movie. I think I’m about tied with the second movie. I think I’d give this movie a 9/10. Sonic 2 is about the same rating for movie. But, yeah, my biggest complaint is the pacing. Me wanting a three hour long movie, and we only get about an hour and fifty. But, it ended up pretty good. I was mind blown after the movie. I’m actually really looking forward to see what happens in Sonic 4. Maybe it’ll be a combination of CD and 06. I guess we have to waited a little under two years. Well, Sonic Movie Universe, I’ll see you in Spring 2027! Good job on Sonic 3, cast and crew! Great review, Chris!
That’s pretty much how I feel about Metroid Dread. It’s so frustratingly close to human perfection, but is held back by a few head-scratching decisions. I still really enjoyed both Sonic 3 and Metroid Dread, but they are not perfect projects, despite what the majority says.

It's so annoying to try and express my critiques about this film when every 5 seconds a sonic fan says it's perfect. I kinda feel almost trapped in a minority because this movie is definitely not perfect but the amount of fans saying it is, is extremely overwhelming when trying to get a point across. Hopefully this review will shed some knew light into the brains of all these fans but judging by the amount of "this movie is peak" im seeing in this comment section makes me think that wont happen
What? Okay first off if Sonic and Knuckles fought right then and there it would have ruined Movie Knuckles character development from debut up to this film. Him just throwing down with obviouslly lashing out Sonic would have justified all the "knuckles is a battle junkie idiot" label that some people throw around. Him stopping calming doen taking a breath and pointing out both tails was just trying to comfort Sonic, he is not acting himself, that he us acting out if anger, but due to both honor, promise, and their friendship will allow him to get the Emerald by telling him the location. Not without telling him that he is making a mistake going for vengeful reasons. This shows self awareness, maturity, and emotional intelligence that Movie 2 Knuckles did not have at first. Also Sonic and co DID talk about Shadow & Robotnik's sacrifice right after they landed via Warp Ring onto that cornfield. They were sad and remosreful about it. Agent Stone was clearly happy to be acknowledged by Rotobotnik, but saddened by his sacrifice as well. Even saying his farewell to him after seeing that large chaos induced explosion in the sky aftermath, ( that viewable from Earth that everyone saw), and walking away in saddness.
I agree with the negative on pacing. Everything seemed to happen very fast, and I feel a little filler here and there would've been good. The ending for me seemed complete, so I'm not too sure what you meant by that.

Archie tails: am i a joke to you ?
@@davidkrappenschitz5749 i love Tails, especially Movie Tails. He looks up to Sonic (and maybe Knuckles), and feels so grateful that they have a team together, and he cherishes that so much, to the point where he tried to stop Sonic and Knuckles from fighting, and risking his life to save his hero's. Sometimes we forget that he's just a little 8 year old fox that loves Chaos Garden and looks up to his big bro 😭

This man did not miss. Every word he said out of his mouth is facts

28:48 Sonic shouldve def said something in honor of shadow like he did in sa2, big missed opportunity for one last line from sa2 "sayonara Shadow... The hedgehog"
ESPECIALLY as sonic was in Japan earlier in the film
Eggman should stay dead after this movie. His message to agent stone was the perfect send off to his character
Sonic 3 with 1h 49m is not actually short. It is actually a perfect runtime, which means it will have less filler and less human subplot.
No
Yeah but it didn't have enough time to fully show shadows change to good and egg man's betrayal to gerald

2:41 yes, People who post spoilers should be shamed out of the internet!
We do need to keep in mind that this movie was still in production during the big strike. They said that they would continue filming scenes, just without actors. That's our explanation for there being less screen time for humans in the movie.
@jadoz12 Now that you mention it, it is indeed something to consider...
Plus, Jeff Fowler stated there was a deleted scene explaining this:
I think there’s a lot of questions from the fans how this can even be possible, because the story of Shadow and Gerald and Maria is happening in the early 1970s, and then 50 years later, he’s out there.
It’s kinda unfortunate they deleted that scene because it’s kind of very important
@@dynamicyouthtube Jeff also gave a reason why it was cut:
That was a very minor storytelling detail that we did have some material that we shot to explain it, but ultimately just the movie is so packed with characters and with storylines it just felt like anything that wasn’t absolutely essential to the pacing and the flow of the story just had to go. So that was something that we filmed.
a bit ?

@ exactly. Well said!
The part with Eggman killing Gerald was dark but funny as hell
One of my biggest complaints is shadow, never not once said CHAOS CONTROL! And ik they incorporate the chaos emeralds differently than the game but it would’ve been cool to see shadow using an emerald for chaos control. He even did chaos spear but didn’t say it. Also wanted to see him self boast about being the ultimate life form 🙁 but still a great movie
@@abeselomalene8817 THIS!
I don’t think they’ll be better than their video game counterparts
@@Theultimatelifeform2001no but the movies does give them more depths than the games does.
I went to see the movie in Screen X and I would say it was worth paying the extra money because you get to see some extended shots of the movie. It also makes you feel more engaged as if you were there.
super sonic vs super shadow was epic. and it seems like the only reason sonic won was cuz shadow was trying to prove a point to sonic the whole fight that revenge was the only way for the pain to go away and he was gaslighting him into killing him. and when shadow was talking he looked away and thats when sonic struck him and the reason he won but even after that shadow didnt try to fight back he literally wanted sonic to kill him cuz there was no more reason for him to live as the eclipse canon was about to fire and destroy everything and everyone he wanted sonic to get his revenge to prove to him that was the only way but since sonic proved him wrong he changed his mind and saved everyone. ppl dont really pay attention to that but i like how deep the lore was
Still a win nonetheless

I agree with literally everything you said. Robotnik saying goodbye to Sonic with a begrudging acknowledgment of all they went through in 3 movies would've been better than the shoehorned in human Agent Stone OC nobody cares about. It's like they can only make Jim stay serious for like 5 seconds before he does a goofy face
Honestly I thought that the farewell to Agent Stone was well done. The biggest problem was that the humour should have been dialled right down during the climactic final battle. There never felt like there were any stakes.
Unfortunately I care about agent stone
20:44 I agree, I feel a fight between them would've been so fitting as it would really show Sonics anger. Knuckles could say "You are letting pain control you" or something like that. The whole "I swore and oath and yada yada" just seemed like a rush which created a missing scene.
I’m a long time Shadow fan and they got his character spot on. The film was very well done, a few tweaks as it’s the movieverse with a slightly different verson but all the important things were done right. I love the shadow and Maria moments, already seen it three times at the cinema ❤️🖤
I’m so happy that shadow survived which you can see in the last post credit scene
FR this movie blew my mind in the end Especially how good they look!

Honestly, the movie was good but I would like that fight between Super Sonic and Super Shadow last longer and in the background plays some sick music...with live and learn it was perfect but It can be longer....but all other was peak

@ I like the sound of that!
These movies have been a wild ride without them i never would have found sonic in the first place.
(🚨Long Comment Warning🚨)
Don’t get me wrong I love the movie.
One is a time stop and the other is teleportation.)
2. No gun truck scene.
(but that’s not really a big deal.)
3. No one mistakes Sonic for Shadow or Shadow for Sonic.
Even though they could’ve made a funny scene out of it.
(They atleast did point out that Sonic and Shadow look similar.)
(Yes I know realism is not an important factor in the Sonic universe but still.)
Time to get hyped for Sonic Movie 4!!!!
oh you what saw it i not like spoiled people
@@shadowsoinc6633 What?
@@jenyt4307 oh i said you shold see the soinc 3
Spoiler warning:
Spoilers: I was impressed as to how they worked the whole amnesia thing with Shadow… because he does not have amnesia with everything that happened while he was on earth… he just doesn’t recall where he came from based on what he told Maria.
PLS how is this shadow PERFECT when he didnt say 'I am the ultimate life-form' or 'chaos control' even once
Ive been playing alot of sonic speed simulator after watching the 3rd movie and I just realised your background and this movie has now made me a sonic fan good review btw 🙂👍
I was dodging spoilers like i was mui goku although i was spoiled for the end scene
I hate these people
After watching almost all the trailers and TV spots.
Happy New Year, Sonic fans!
The movie was great :/ no more questions
When you and bro do the perfect dap up 4:16
I felt mostly the same way you did about the movie. Great video!
Finally a review that has both pros and cons, legend as always 🙌
Thank you bro appreciate you 🙏🏻
I know it's not only me but shadow is like funny in one scene that's wild not only that but shadow was actually happy at the end like bro
So to summarise
Good
-Shadow Background and Voice Actor
-Supporting Characters
Bad
-Pacing(which literally is the main problem)
-Shadow Sacrifice
That’s on him for looking at the spoilers 😂
Hey I wanted to ask what do you think about the post credit scenes? What do you think will happen next in the movie franchise? I’d be really interested in analys of the plot. Especially after that incredible mid credit scene.
I think it would’ve been better if we had a short fight between Sonic and Knuckles before getting the emerald
yea, the one thing that i didnt like was the structure compared to the 2nd one I wish it was a bit longer because how quick it was
I definitely was a big fan of the movie, but agree with everything here.
I really like this review. The spoilers are more on us for look for all the details we could. But every other criticism makes a lot of sense
I feel like Jim Carrey could return in Sonic 4 because I feel like Metal will be the main villain and as Neo Metal he can shapeshift. So maybe Neo Metal will show up and mess with team Sonic as Eggman ;)
Who get spoiled before watching the movie?
I got spoiled 3 times

@@1Unlimited_Void yeah fr! I’m definitely gonna watch it again once it comes out on streaming! I rlly wanna watch it again!
I got spoiled of the super teamup😅
Couldn’t believe we got a Dragon Ball fight.
So, no one's gonna talk about the live and learn rifs, DUDE THEY WERE IN EVERY SONG AND I LOVED THAT!
Shadow deep down: I HATE the gun agency, I miss MARIAAAAAAAA, and there is a faker after me
The movie was crazy good.
I was pretty mad that I got spoiled for the movie, but I still liked the movie!
So, can you rank the sonic movies projects? Mine is 1. Sonic 3, 2. Sonic 2, 3. Sonic 1, 4. Knuckles
I'm gonna use this to write my opinion on the movie, expect a big test(sorry btw):
As someone who already watched it 4 times, I honestly love this movie, I think is my favorite in the trilogy, but like you said, it has it's problems.
I personally don't mind the changes made from SA2 to the movie, since it's not a copy 1 to 1, is an adaptation, and takes inspiration, so I have honestly no problem with that, and also that to me, just add more to Maria and Gerald, Shadow's and Maria's relationship is one of the best things in the movie and man I get so sad everytime :(
Besides that, this movie is truly amazing, top videogame movies for me with Sonic 2 and the Mario movie, hope they can keep this up with Sonic 4 in terms of quality
one thing i have to say is. i dont understand why people care about professional reviews like certified fresh when you should care more about fan reviews because they are actually fan's. because most of certified fresh reviews are from people who are not even fan's of the show or movie they review
Me watching the post credit scenes
(Yes there's 2 scenes)
(Sorry for spoilers)
But, my god, dear god movie sonic must never end
I just watched the movie and i was wondering why shadow was never called the ultimate life
form
and i also dont understand his orgin was he created by eggmans grandad or is he ailien?
Wade guarded master emerald very well 😂😂😂
I’ve seen sonic 3 twice and it’s definitely my favourite movie of all time now
Hey SonicHub, which Sonic movie was your favorite?

My biggest issue with this movie is that Shadow wasn’t created by Gerald like how he was in the games
Who cares? Just critique, you're trapping yourself

Shadow goes hard in this movie super sonic and super shadow fight gave nostalgia
I had to watch sonic with my sister everytime someone dies in the movie she starts crying

I agree with the negative on pacing. Everything seemed to happen very fast, and I feel a little filler here and there would've been good. The ending for me seemed complete, so I'm not too sure what you meant by that.
I do agree with a lot of your negatives (especially needing a bit more run time.) And disagree with a small bit of your positive.
Oh yeah there’s also a second post credits scene in this movie
I'm honestly curious what will the deleted scenes show, if we get it.

I loved this movie so much that I somehow got emotional in a scene with Jim Carrey as the main part of the scene.
