Excellent video and explanation. My greyhound hated his crate when he was fostered and for the first few months after I got him. I ended up adding a nicer comforter and covering the crate, now he loves it and voluntarily sleeps in it at night. If your greyhound doesn't like his crate, try making it nicer, more private, and feeding them treats in the crate. That way it has a good association, not as a place to punish/lock away your dog.
If you make it somewhere desirable to be, they are likely to check it out. Choice is important. If they are forced to be in it, you will create a negative association and the crate will never be a safe space for them
Kenny B now has his space in the office with a child gate divider and happily stays in there with me at my desk. The rest of the office are bunched in a smaller space but everyone is happy and Kenny knows now that is his safe space. I always ‘lock’ us both in but he can happily see everyone and know what is going on without getting in other peoples way. Happy doggo happy office!!!
I created a special place for Nina after I saw your video. It's been a bit success. She took to it straight away. Thank you Jill.
I'm glad it helped 😁
