Thank you for both of these videos! It made it a breeze! My speakers just died and I finally realized it.
I bought mounting brackets that worked great. I had to use a screw to pop the broken, left over rivet pieces out once I got the speakers out.
I reused the foam ring on the old speakers because I didn't buy any. It came off without breaking and attached just fine to the mounting brackets I used.
To mount the new speakers, I used machine screws, washers and nuts. I put the nut and washer on a piece of duct tape, made a hole through the nut and washer into the tape and then attached that to inside the door so the screws could catch. Worked great!!
Putting it back together was easy. Just popped the panel back on.
Way easier than the rear speakers! :D

How many watts rms does the speaker have to be for the stock head unit?

I don’t have the quick connect. Can I still have the wires spliced?

I mentioned in the video the model number on the speakers. I would go with a 3-way speaker. More Dynamic Sound

So with those pioneers you can just plug them in and theyll work? I have this same car and dont want to have to deal with rewiring anything. If thats the case I'll def grab these and swap them out with my stock speakers if it makes a noticeable and positive upgrade

I had no issues wiring. Bought about and play harness. Connects to the speakers and then directly to the original factory harness leading to the original speakers

Were you able to fit your door pannel back on without modifying the speaker grills? I did the same thing with my 2014 corolla. I used a jbl 6.5 component set. Unfortunately the mounting height of both the OEM speaker adapter coupled with the jbl was too long so my door pannel didn’t clip in completely. I ended up buying the metra 82-8148 adapters.

It's very important to leave the speakers bare. What I mean by that is they always come with a plastic grill that goes over them... Do not use that as that will make it stick out probably too far. I had no issues with these Pioneers at all. Door panel went right back on

@@righteousredneck777 hey man sorry this is an old thread, but does the grill actuallly affect this? ive padded the shit out of my door panels and around the speakers and i get rattle... would you suggest the grill go? does it affect the speaker in any way negatively over time? i assume the main reason for it is dust protection but id like your input

    • @righteousredneck777

6 inch I believe is a bit bigger than the factory speakers. Might have to use silicone

What size sheet metal screw did you use? Thanks!

    • @righteousredneck777
      @righteousredneck777  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The size will not matter just use something that has a decent head on it like what you see in the video and just make sure that the drill bit you use that the screws are a little bit bigger than the drill bit and you will be fine. About inch and a half screws is all you will need

What a crap design from toyota, same with the rear speakers you have to take the whole back down to remove them. I'm replacing the speakers this weekend. Great video. Thanks
