During my last acid trip I listened to this song and the entire night I sat on the beach staring into the fire with this song playing over and over in my head as I thought about the fragile balance between life and death and the bittersweet melancholy of existence. Of the great depths of beauty that pain can inspire. Of the god that lives within all of us.
Honestly, i think her singing is beautiful, granted its beautiful in a very specific aesthetic sort of way, but i love listening to her music. She rocks the voice shes got and honestly how could we ask for anything better?
It's about their childhood. In another version of this song, Bianca says "Simon" in the first verse. Simon is Sierra and Bianca's brother who commited suicide, so that's what the first verse is about. The chorus is about their childhood. The second verse is about their parents.
I was so frightened of this song when I first came upon it! But since I can't forget it's unique sound, I'm intrigued and have come back to hear it again. And probably again.
I like the deepness of the lyrics once you think about them more and understand them more but the voice just sends chills down my spine. Over all I like the song- it puts you in an ominous mood
I seem to remember reading this was about the death of their father... To me, It feels like memories, painful newer ones bandaged with the beautiful memories they have of their father and the powerful impression he left. Brilliant.
So I think this song is about a large family of 7 kids. The father killed himself. That's why they are in pursuit to heal their mothers pain. And why they go to Spirit lake, to visit pappy
well, yes, but ultimately it’s about the struggle between trying to preserve your own childhood and taking care of an abused mother. “Lemonade” means alcohol or drugs, I think. The chorus talks about before their dad “died” (became an addict) with a distinct poignant tone, leading me to believe that they’re trying to hold onto those memories. The verse after the first chorus, the one that talks about their parents being young and in love, is said in a way that makes me think the children know that they can never have that innocence of being young and without worry, as they’ve had to become the “parents” of their parents. Lightning strikes could be referring to abuse, as in “strikes”. “Pink hot flashes” could be referring to the phrase “red hot flashes” which means losing control of your anger. “We climbed the rocks in snow and rain” could be referring to the extent they went to to try to make their mother happy while she is in this terrible situation.
I think that “lemonade” is very significant though, and possibly refers to the problem always being there, as the lemonade is present even in the happy memories
@@ellis51773I’d also like to add that maybe their dad had spurts of sobriety and that’s when they remembered him at his happiest is when he would take the girls on an adventure and have a sugary drink in the hot summer that wasn’t a brown pop. Or his “lemonade was spiked with vodka. Who knows
Cocorosie was slightly over /passed "the times", and Bjork was way too early for "the times".... Had they met somewhere in the middle, they prolly both would have been super big in mainstream media!... And, boy, oh boy, it would be absolutely drool and chill worthy to hear them do a song together!!!! Cocorosie feat. Bjork Or Bjork feat. Cocorosie
its 2021 I'm about to be 25 in 17 days and hearing this takes me back to age 16 :( still remember the lines and the chills that will forever hit. unique song and you really won't hear anything like this ever again.
i did my senior yr solo to this song last yr it kept me alive fr the girls in that class were horrible to me cocorosie elevated me into my own wrld and helped me push thru everything in my life🥺🫀🫀
J'ai découvert cette Voix dans la pub pour Alfa Roméo, elle me touche, j'ai ajouté d'autres chansons pour entendre cette voix, j'aime alors je prends....!
Like many people here, I came from reddit. I guess it's cool to hate something that's trendy ( you are entitled to your opinion) but it probably doesn't have to be in such an uneducated mob-like fashion.
Lightening is very different from lightning. I don't think it was a typo in the lyrics, she made a point to pronounce it that way. I wonder if there's a reason.
Jaden Daywalt lightening, so like, they're getting lighter. Maybe getting hit? And their mother was in pain in the next verse, maybe their dad was abusive?
This song is complete art, I don't understand why the hate consumes how others think of this, I think this song is absolutely stunning.
I second that opinion. I feel consumed by hate myself and this song brings me back to love.
This is one of the saddest songs I've heard. It's so beautiful.
This song actually gets stranger when you learn the lyrics.
Brilliant.

there's something about the chorus, it's just....i can't explain it, but I love it.

Us seven kids we almost died.. to heal our mothers pain.. this song resonates deep within

I believe it's referencing their brother who committed suicide.
Their older half-brother Simon died on May 5th, 2006, which is Cinco de Mayo. "It was Cinco de Mayo, pillow case on his head".
yo i barely found this but her voice is so hecking calming like omg?? she honestly deserves more love jfc some people
The meaning this song portrays is so amazing. The unique sound and vocals incredible!!

I'm shocked at all the shitty comments, and how recent all the negativity is. This has got to be stemming from somewhere else.

We had to analyse this song for high school English.

I love the singing, personally. It reminds me of Bjork’s singing, which of course is a good thing
Like many people here, I came from reddit. I guess it's cool to hate something that's trendy ( you are entitled to your opinion) but it probably doesn't have to be in such an uneducated mob-like fashion.
Yeah. I Dont get why the hate just suddenly appeared.
I absolutely love this song. I covered it on my double bass. If anyone could take the time to listen to it that would mean the whole world to me.
wait what... is this suddenly trendy or something? then why does it get so much hate??
Where did all these special snowflakes in the comment sections come from? I miss when the comment section was more peaceful and positive.
My Mom's name is Tina but, my Dad's name wasn't Tim. I've never heard of CocoRosie before. The songs are really unique.

Jaden Daywalt lightening, so like, they're getting lighter. Maybe getting hit? And their mother was in pain in the next verse, maybe their dad was abusive?
