Do you have any sweater kits left? I am a newbie and loving your videos! You are so good at tuning out Button-LOL. Thanks for your time on all the wonderful videos!
This is one of my ALL-TIME FAVE videos! Not sure how many times I've replayed it, but every time Buttons comes racing around the corner of the bushes behind you, yapping all the way, 'n you just completely ignore him, CRACKS ME UP!!! And THEN, when the neighbor coincidentally starts his mower, LOL!!! It's totally a John Belushi flashback... Anyhoo, HUMUNGO INSPIRATION, as always! THANX, Deana!!! x
I’ve been looking at braided rugs and was thinking old wool clothes would be great. Your videos are the first that ever made me consider making a hook rug
HAHAHA! I am dying. I was thinking, "Wow that dog has a lot of energy." IMMEDIATELY after that you said that comment about small dogs not being able to shut theri "hole." I just cracked up. Great video. I am just getting started in this, looks amazing and right up my alley!
Omg! Amazing upcycling project! That's a beautiful piece you made. I want to make a wool rug out of my stash of wool sweaters. Have only done latch hooking as a kid so I'll need to watch your beginner rug hooking to see how you are locking the strips into place. Thanks so much!
I laughed until I peed at your speed dog running behind you back and forth. It looked like you sped up the taping. Ssssssooooooo funny. He is speed demon I love your videos. I am hooked haha I bought your kit galaxy as my first piece. I am a hooker virgin. Ha ha. Love you and I sat. For hours and watched your videos Oh good grief. There is the neighbor on his mower. Ok laughing myself wet again You are so real. It is wonderful
You are awesome! I feel like we are having a one to one conversation... clearly we are not! Do not know there was a cutter!!! Okay I am new to this craft... art!
OMG! I may have a new obsession. Love the dog "shut his hole"...lol. Can you tell me where to get a strip cutter like that? trying to look for one on Amazon. Thank you!!
Where do you get one of those cutters? OMG, I am dying again, that ashtray! My dad had an ashtray like that right next to his easy chair that he sat in after work and smoked and watched t.v. Yep, when people still smoked in the house! I am totally going to get one, I will probably see one someday, I am in thrift stores enough! Memory Lane for sure!
I always recommend getting them second hane because they're over $400 new - a company called Bliss sells them - they're beautiful and last forever. If you want a used one send me a message at ribboncandyhooking@gmail.com because I always know who's got one to sell. The ashtray! Isn't it funny to see stuff like that from childhood!
what size of strips do you like most? also, on larger pcs. of monk's cloth what is the best size to hook on and what is the overall size borders? thank you. Denice
Thrift stores are so expensive now that it’s cheaper to buy wool cloth and dye that. I used to find great bargains in thrift stores on wool clothing, but not anymore!
I have it mostly out because I constantly go to it, so I have little felt balls I've used a cedar oil dropper on, dropping a little bit of oil on each ball. Room smells wonderful and I haven't seen a single moth since I started using cedar oil.
I have a few cutters but here I cut with scissors. I often cut with scissors orca quilting rotary cutter. I wouldn't invest in an machine getting started.
I am just starting out and would love to give this a try. Can you (or somebody!) tell me what that "strip cutter" is called? I would like to purchase one.
This one is a cutter from Fraser Rugs. These are $425 so it's good to find them used on Facebook. I always say using a rotary cutter and quilt ruler is GREAT too. The Fraser only cute a couple strips at a time so it's not like it's a lot faster for all that money.
I just purchased a Bliss wool strip cutter after watching this video. Thank you so much for your informative video. So great. May I ask where you purchase your replacement blades for your wool cutter? Thank you again. :)
Sure, I use both the sissex cutter which comes from the old tattered flag rug hooking shop. I use trays number 8 and number 6 the most and I also use my Bliss cutter which is a little vintage strip slicer that are found on eBay in all the 2nd hand trading rug hooking groups on Facebook.
Its a Bliss cutter sometimes called a Fraser. I usually use a faster cutter but with these you can resharpen the blades so I tend to use it with anything but traditional milled wool just in case what I'm cutting dulls the blades

Loved the video! What concentration! Can I ask what size of hook you are using?
You are awesome! I feel like we are having a one to one conversation... clearly we are not! Do not know there was a cutter!!! Okay I am new to this craft... art!
I've been using a cutter less and less. The next project that's coming up I'm doing all scissor cutting and it's pretty relaxing!
Your help today is very well done 👍
Enjoyed your video. I like your freehand drawings in your videos too.
Thanks, Larisa. They are here if you need one. I'll be doing more too xx www.ribboncandyhooking.com/search?q=sweater
Could you use this material for a latch hook project ?
How many count on monk cloth.
What size the hook
Where do you buy the wool cutter.

I like 6 and 7 the most. I use 8 a lot, but 8 is just a little bit harder to pull through the monk's cloth. Anything under a 5 I try to avoid
Thrift stores are so expensive now that it’s cheaper to buy wool cloth and dye that. I used to find great bargains in thrift stores on wool clothing, but not anymore!
I’m up for those kits!
Where can I get a cutter like yours ? Is it adjustable for width ? I'm excited to make one, you are awesome explaining your method. Thank you
Try to search for Bliss or Fraser Wool cutters, they should come with replaceable cutting heads for different sized strips.
Ooooooo what is that tool you used to cut the sweaters ? Your design looks amazing
I would love to do a kit with recycled sweaters. I think it may be easier for me as a left handed hooker, if it is more forgiving!
Thats a good thought. I bet you're right. I'm putting some together this week!
What size cutter blade did you use to cut the strips?
Wow amazing... where due you purchase the cutter from ? Or can you you a rotter cutter ?
I did rotary cutting with the sweaters. And scissors. I have several wool cutters and they're all expensive. See if you love it first xx
Ok thanks 😊
Nice ☺☺your new subscriber
Hi! I´m from Germany and I´d love to try this. What is the name of the cutting machine you use? I´ve never seen it here. Where can I get it please?
That is a Bliss Model A cutter
Thank you very much!@@RibbonCandyHooking
Do you wash/dry the sweaters before cutting? What temps for washing and drying ?
I wash and dry on high. If they still aren't fat and full I run them through again
Do you cut sweater before washing?
Where did you purchase your fabric cutter????
How do you store wool properly?
I have it mostly out because I constantly go to it, so I have little felt balls I've used a cedar oil dropper on, dropping a little bit of oil on each ball. Room smells wonderful and I haven't seen a single moth since I started using cedar oil.
Where did you get the cutting device from please?
From Fraser/Bliss. I have a few pretty new ones I'm selling if you want a really perfect one for more of a deal that retail. Xx
