I hadn't even watched the trailer before going to the theatre Nd it caught me off guard..
I was MIND BLOWN!!!
The goal of this movie was to make a stylized movie with insane cinematography and editing . The director and script wriiter of this movie told that they wanted to make a movie like this so they made a script for making a movie like this .
Jaby it's totally fine for not figuring out the story timeline. I remember watching it in the cinemas and took me quite sometime to figure it out.
And there's no story in this movie. The fights, cinematography and editing are the highlights. People here enjoyed it for these three and were itching to engage in brawls due to the adrenaline rush this movie gave 😂

I can agree with Jaby about not being able to keep up even though im a Malayali i got confused quite a bit. But the beauty is when everything ties up well. That was extremely satisfying to me.
The movie isnt for the story but more for the action and style, and im very confident that this movie will be remembered for the style over the years. Variety excites me and this movie was definitely different.
The Director Khalid Rahman has movies which are a completely different genre like for the movie " Unda" . Its the first time he is doing this genre for Thallumala.

The whipped cream guy was the guy from the theater brawl. He is a relative of the bride too. You may remember his mom telling the bride very early on about Tovino that he is just a goon who beat up her son. But actually her son (the whipped cream guy) started all the problem when he removed wazim’s clothes in the theater. That’s why wazim did the same when they were going to take revenge on Omega guy in the night. They got distracted and couldn’t beat up Omega that night which comes around in climax scene.

But according to the timeline given above in a comment; Wazim beats siyad instead of Omega. Is before the theatre fight. Why does he do that?
I watched it in the theater. I felt like I went to the carnival! This movie was made with 1/10th of RRR's budget
What's ur point ? Rajamouli's earlier movies were made with a similar budget.. RRR's interval block alone takes the entire budget of Thallumaala..You need to burn that kind of money to execute such stuff..
@@mrxxx7467my point is thallumalla's output vs its budget was of the highest order. In no way am I insinuating RRR is not a great movie. The same way a big budget movie Hindi or Telugu movie compares their budget vs a marvel movie. Great output for the budget.

This is THAT movie you watch just for the VIBE😂.. being a sneakerhead i was so satisfied with the film.. Syntell was SOOO FUN to watch in this reaction.. i am a non malayali and it took me a while to catch up with the back and forth storyline.. but the editing. style. pop culture influence ooff chef's kiss!!😍
P.S I agree with Jaby that its still fun to watch even without a story .. I have already watched it on Netflix.. but still vibed with this reaction!

You are in for a surprise if you check out other movies from this director. Thallumaala is a 180 degree turn from his other works. And I love both of the worlds(while agreeing with the shortcomings @Jaby mentioned)

Not going against Jaby's views here but I believe the fights in the movie are supposed to be like this. Contrary to kingsmen where we have a trained agent fighting mind controlled people here it's just pure brawl between a ton of young rage fueled normal young guys. You might feel fight was clustered but that's what such commotions are supposed to feel like. Like a local brawl where everyone is going against each other. On that aspect I think the fights in the movie was well done especially the car sequence towards the end
The Non-Linear storyline trajectory worked out surprisingly well!
Thallumaala means "chain of fights". And the movie was up to the title.
Wow you had a lot to talk about this movie ! Thoroughly enjoyed this movie ! This is definitely intended for a multiple watch ! That's when you can fully appreciate the movie and there's a high chance you'll miss a lot of things apart from the already obvious complex non linear story telling ! They started with 3 chapters and in the end it became over double of that ! A lot of attention to detail is what this movie forces you to give it and when you do , its quite rewarding and fun ! One of the highest grossing malayalam movies of this year and a personal favourite of a lot of people like myself !!!
Agree with Jaby. Reji Vs Wazim fight deserved a grounded treatment. Reji was the most interesting character too.... and I totally get him.

'Love' is another gem by this director
I watched 2 times, at first time i thought this is a dispersed movie but later i realised that's the beauty and felt awesome when watched 2nd time
That sprayed guy is the one who removed wazim(main) cloth from theatre,and later wazim gets revenge during ( omega Babu mission), and he is some family relative(like cousin) of Fatima beevi(main actress) ,that's how he is on the wedding scene,( there is little language barrier that's why didn't u caught up) like in the beginning he became famous for the wedding fight that's how he got invited to college inauguration.(you didn't catch it up there).
This movie is showing the attitude of teenagers or bachelors in Kerala(over rage).. and the attitude of 30s 'reji'(acceptance)...
The 1999 movie that syntell is referring to at the end is "Go". Have to check it out!

Suggestion for next malayalam movie : "Rorschach" starring mammootty.
Gave a totally different vibe than anything I have ever watched.
There is nothing to take out after the movie ended. It is all about its non linear nature of it. There is no heavy story line to feel for. You keep understanding what fit where and enjoy the dialogs(if you understand), and the fight (if you like them)
Nothing more.
Such movies very rarely happen in mollywood. Especially such dance songs and stuffs are almost extinct in Kerala.
You could look at Tovino's hairstyle and understand the time and assume the order a bit.
In case you don't know. Kalyani priyadarshan is the one and only daughter of Director Priyadarshan (D of those movies you have reacted already)

One thing I noticed with Jaby Koay is that his mind is on the slower side for processing. There are so many times he got stuck and Achara has to explain. The movie is just fine as it is. It's a entertainer, a fun watch, very stylised, no body wants to look for emotional connection with this one.

Timeline would be so confusing for a non Malayalam speaking person, That's kinda normal. It takes time to process and will understand more in the second watch. but the movie is damn good, The theatre experience was epic👌⚡
After watching this movie we feel like fighting and i am from kerala i saw this in theater's you should watch indian or malayalam movies in theater's to get th full experience and when it comes to fighting scenes we always go little over but that is indian cinema we love action movie so much😊
This one was closer to an Eger Wright film. Similar to Scott pilgrim vs the world. Less substance more style and totally fun!

Can you please do a watch along for Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya He? It is a recent malayalam film. Trailer hides the best part of film for theatre so it might seem very normal from trailer. But it's the best film I have seen this year and I wish similar films could be created in different languages because this film can create an impact.

It was enjoyable mainly cause of the non-linear fomat. If it was narrated in a sequential manner, it's just fights, more fights, settling of fights through another fight..yeah, like you said-a repetitive cycle 😅

I think non-linear story telling is best suitable for a called Thallumalla(Chains of Fights), if it's linear it would feel repetitive. this movie shows just tease of some fight in the beginning like the opening scene with garage fight, the wedding which both were show fully on the end and we get context, it good to see teaser and the see the full version later, and this movie worked for people is because we wanted to escape from daily pandemic life and enjoy fully at cinema just fun time, and am sure the Omaga Babu story is teased in parts of this movie for a reason, and we would more in sequel am sure they have planned the way it ended.
Making friend from fight is something very relatable am sure it must have happened to some of the crew or cast member life, how a small fight could ended up being best friends

Thallumala - "Cycle of fights" might be the way to translates this , the time line jumping is really frustrating and its directed towards the fight is just one of the brilliant move I've seen in malyalam movie...

Was hard to follow and therefore hard to connect at times but was a good movie nonetheless

Title of the film means - chain of fights. I think it's conviction is there from the word go.
I think this is first Malayalam movie without script ..spot dubbing and no story line but it's BECOME super hit only 20 million spend this movie

And about the garage fight, its not the one they focused on. In the starting itself Wazim's father is saying wedding fight ks one of his best fight. And whole movie was focused on that. Since its most happening fight and the garage fight is just one on one. Your friend had more focus though. The was following the whole movie jumps and cuts very easily.
This is the one of the most stylist fight made in malayalam film industry and i am happy that they achieved this output under limited budget (20crore indian rupees )
