My fundamental gripe with the AT gun is they're buildable anywhere up to 2 sectors deep in enemy territory for 50 supplies, load as fast as a heavy tank even solo, and can be built on demand to point at an enemy tank (9:33) so it doesn't matter if they don't move or traverse slowly because 10 munitions and a 5 minute supply cool down timer wipes up to 600 fuel + drive time off the board. If they were more expensive than 50 so it took more than a single box to build them it would eliminate most of the issues with them being so strong because you couldn't just build them on demand anywhere you can see a tank and would be forced to either exert more effort (truck, air drop or role swapping to double/triple drop) or use them defensively.
I feel like HLL has sadly gotten worse since I’ve started playing in U7. U8 was not very fun to me and U9 tanked my performance and visually looked so bad that I pretty much stopped playing. U10 was largely a step in the right direction and I found the game to be enjoyable again. U11 was lackluster but was a minor step in the right direction. My TLDR is basically that HLL has become fun and enjoyable to me but is still not the game it use to be. It’s still enjoyable enough that I continue to play it at least until a better first person shooter arrives on the market.
Sadly i agree. U7 still had a lot of problems (I remember arguing about the grid system and garrisons just like we are over a year later) but it just fixed so much from both earlier and future updates that it stands out as the peak of HLL. Coming back and playing post release has just been such a cluster fuck. We still have the exact same problems we had way back when with garrisons and the grid system and arty etc, its harder to spot people now with the newer foliage which makes the game far more campy when combined with the increased footstep audio while looking worse due to the amount of culling and murdering my framerate, the "no frontline" meme has come to fruition since theres so many ways to get behind the enemy so quickly in ways that you cant realistically be expected to prevent like you could in the past - ontop of supply drops that signals where a redzone garry will go we also have trucks for red zone garries, half tracks that can only be stopped with an AT player blows because you cant all be AT as an active defence, air heads and the old fashioned just walk around the fight. It all happens so fast and so numerously now that you cant really do anything preventative about it like in earlier updates because theres just so many tools available on such short cooldowns that spread you out too thin you are basically forced to sit on the obj and just look backwards...
Thanks for all you contribute to the community. I really enjoy your perspective and editing. My favorite most entertaining HLL videos. I was recon driving the American truck on Carentan a week or so ago and got us all blown to bits. Sorry bout that :(
Yeah, 2 minute sector cooldown was in the game some 2 years ago. When you could build garrissons in the red for 50 supps and they were actually spawnable… good old times
I started a server yesterday that's level 70+. Hoping to curb out the low level players until they've learned a thing or two. I am also tired of telling others to build Garry's when they are standing on supplies. Tons of missed opportunities, if players could just have a sense of map awareness. Sniper scopes are off center. The invisible walls are terrible. The buildings look like blobs of texture at 200+ meters. We still haven't received a "patch" for many things. I love this game, but damn some players are absolutely clueless, and it ruins the experience. Oh and Defense, what's that? Tons of tutorials made, but almost seems useless at times. Garry's built 10 meters into the red, like wtf are you thinking? I been unhappily defending since Update 9, and it's gotten old af. Love the vids! Glad you're back.
@blu3ray1 tbh, it was so frustrating that I almost quit. It was just the cherry on top, from changing the gun/hit reg in update 8. It was like diving into a pool with no water.
@blu3ray1 I agree. On Christmas, there was more people playing battlefield 5 then battlefield 2042. The same complaints people have made about battlefield 2042, is very similar to the issues hell let loose has had for a very long time. As if there haven't been enough examples of how to destroy your own game, and everything you've built. It's really hard to play a game, that constantly reminds you of what still needs fixing. This game would be nothing without the community. It would reside in the "what could have been" category, like post scriptum and beyond the wire.
@blu3ray1 I wish PS and Beyond the Wire had more players, because it would ramp up the competition. Steam shows the last 30 days of PS has had 575 average player count. I would like that game to rival HLL, and I hope they can recover. Take care.
And welcome back. Saw you on the server the other day where the whole game was trying to push the middle point in SMDM as German. That game was intense

bring back old SMDM. I was blown away by the town part on the new map. Especially when nerds block it with barbed wire, no way to get out let alone get in.
When the world needed him the most... he returned. Good stuff, haven't been playing a lot of the new update yet though, but tanks suck a bit now I feel.
My AT is rank 9 or some shit, simply because I feel like I have to keep playing it so someone actually kills tanks. Love to rank up more of the other classes but there are few more frustrating things than being powerless to take a tank down while your AT is having a wicked fap nowhere relevant. My engineer is my third highest class too just from being 'budget AT' with satchels. Bloody shotgun is a godsend for that class that's for sure. Agree recon tanks didn't need nerfing, AT guns don't need nerfing either. I never use tanks but I also rarely have an issue taking them out. Map design sometimes makes them a proper bastard but there's little reason to nerf the tank to solve that.
I'm that low level AT player running. but its because theres no fucking garrison anywhere near the tank. And no one in my squad wants to help push me to the tank.
Driving the truck around in circles is the only thing in this game that gives me joy. Yeah I think in U7 or U8 there was still a large base of people who understood garrisons and defense now that is pretty non existent. In public matches the team with the better defense is going to win most of the time. I can put up 4 garrisons in a sector but if no one uses them and 1 squad can just waltzs in the hardpoint whats the point? Which is why I like Offensive better than warfare now. Its just pure chimp mode.
my Tank crew and traind long and hard to make recons work in comp, not only because they used to be very fun but also to free up fuel and cds for heavy tanks for my team. and we had some success but you had to give it your best one mistake and you are done. hunting competent players with this thing was a rush big F.
not sure what's going on with public servers at the moment, but your so right... From Low Level AT (feels like this is the go to role noobs like), no sqauds with support, but always asking for supply drops. Sl's walking over supplies, and far to many people building garris in the red?! All whilst players complain for not having garris to spawn at. so painful.
Yea the game has become more and more annoying with all of its small rules from not being able to drop supplies till third line to red garrisons that auto lock for ever speed of cap and power of hard cap. The hard cap is one of the worst things 6 guys holding off 18 guys cus they are locked inside a building even tho we have the cap surrounded with 3 garrisons. This game is really fun and really ****** annoying also I'm a glorified truck driver.
I know this will make me sound like a 30 year old boomer, but this constant buff/nerf cycle with every update to a game is partly what makes games so annoying to play nowadays. You have to be a hawk with the patch notes (which isn't fun) to know what's even happening, and it could still ruin the gameplay for you. To more casual players, like me, it just makes them feel crazy that stuff is almost imperceptibly different. I wish patches just fixed bugs instead of rebalancing things all the time. "Back in my day" games got one or two patches ever, and new features were released as expansion packs. My comment is just about online games in general. I played HLL for only a couple days a couple years ago.
I tend to agree. For one thing, the game still feels unfinished, like they are tweaking values and dialing in numbers on features which might need a total overhaul. And now that the game is out of early access (in name at least) the continuous tweaking of these numbers feels like the game design lacks confidence (or resources to design, develop and tweak faster behind the scenes) - which it clearly does.
AT guns need to be nerfed, you can build 2 or 3 together and lockdown whole areas down. They also have a 4 second reload time meaning they will take out anyting once they get a first shot, they should not be able to 2 shot a heavy from the front.
Great video, one of the reasons I finally gave up on HLL last month, completely left it and all the channels. Those topics have been discussed in the public channels since forever and with halftracks even in advance of how it could end (and how the same it really did). I was repeating myself over and over with the valid points, with the halftracks included and again well in advance... also soooo many people provided soooo many possible solutions even easy ones and responses from the devs? None. About 10:10 - this I noticed to happening as a new thing in the U10 just before I left. The thing is that they solved the inability to move due the "spawnpoint unavailable" popup window (which caused not being able to turn around/aim etc. either) and by fixing that problem (removed the window and made the error message part of the screen) they created a new one - people spawn even after the spawnpoint taken down if like 3 or less seconds to spawn. That is how the problems/bugs are always being "fixed" in HLL and you even lose the idea about which bug was actually worse - if the new one or the old one. The teamplay requirement in HLL is not about actual cooperation in the common sense tactics, but about the knowledge of how broken some features are and its abusement (or knowledge of how to avoid the broken behavior of some features/things - like knowing we can get stuck with a truck even on a small stupid thingy). In pubs it is terrible how stupid public can be and in the competitive it is the exact opposite extreme. HLL is not about the cooperation in the good sense at all, the way the features are being setup, are not providing any middle ground.
Man I know its frowned upon just generally as even human beings, let alone players, but the SHEER AMOUNT OF IDIOCITY THAT PLAYERS DISPLAY IN THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY MIND NUMBING. is it just me or are the new players just getting dumber & dumber? is it just me or is the MP 40 incapable of killing homo sapiens now? is it just me or does the scoped Mosin Nagant simply refuse to 1-shot people? is it just me or the FG 42 possible the worst thing they've added to the game yet (except Stuttergrad)? Rant over. side note : I did this poll on reddit too & got some pretty positive responses & I would love if you gave yours : would you like to play on the old SMDM just for a day on PTE servers?
If you think HLL is frustrating, then you should try HLL on a PS5 😂. It's a whole new level of frustration. Partially as a PC HLL player I'm terrible with a controller and then there's the new players and weird "Random" join a public game option that gives you a very unique player experience.
