I expected this anime to be a little weird but it seriously made me cry the way Yoshida stepped up and took care of her was really amazing

I really enjoyed this anime but wished we got one more episode to see what happens with the two of them. Its no Toradora, Kaguya-sama or My Dress Up Darling but its up there for one of my favorite slice of life animes. Would highly recommend watching it.
toradora easily i think similar story similar premise barring the sexual favours of a sixteen year old it's very much like toradora just two ladies trying to survive in there circumstances but great men who they'd come to know would help them in there times of need T_T
Even though the idea of a stranger letting a runaway teenager stay with them is considered shady, People like Yoshida are pretty rare. Because you know even these days absolutely nobody would let a random person live in their home, let alone a runaway teenager, And they especially would not do it out of the goodness of their hearts usually there's always a shady agenda behind it.
not even that im pretty sure many just woundt do it of fear of sa allegations even if they dont have ulterior motives like i helped out many friends since i was the 1st one to move out, some stayed for months ... but a stranger? idk
and also letting some random teenage girl suddenly stay into your home, who knows if she's a theif and she can create some scandals to frame or blackmail you.

If he was doing anything out of the “goodness of his heart,” he wouldn’t have let her stay for so long. He would’ve sought outside help and persuaded her to enter a program that helps women get back on their feet in Japan, not stay in a single man’s home and risk developing inappropriate feelings for him and jeopardize his good name and reputation as a pervert and pedophile. WE ALL know what would happen if it was exposed and he tried to explain to the public that he was doing it “out of the goodness of his heart,” NO ONE would believe him, that would lead to social suicide. And poor girl shouldn’t be further desensitized by such an inappropriate living situation. Regardless of his intentions, what she NEEDED wasn’t something he could sincerely offer.

Good job, love this anime - but I think you got the ending slightly wrong. It has been at least a year since they parted as the closing credits show her graduating from high school having repeated her final year. In the post credit scene she specifically isn't wearing her school uniform under the lamp post - she is now on the way the becoming the fully fledged member of society and although she does now have a home with her family she has come back to try to win him over (she would be probably now be 19 yo - 17 when they met, together 6 months+, repeat a year, come back). This is just interpreting the anime, I haven't read the manga.

Still sounds bad to me, especially since no good man would feel comfortable bringing in a strange teenage girl into his house and risk her getting more desensitized to a bad situation and developing feelings for him, nor jeopardizing his career and good name/reputation in real life. For men, it’s not just about going to jail, it would be social suicide. There are better ways to help people, this was a risky situation.
That would have made for a short story. You need to remember that it is a co-dependent relationship and they are actually both helping each other. Even he doesn't know why he keeps her around at the start of the series, but realises it by the end when he admits that he is the one that is not ok after they separate and he goes back to being as empty as he felt when they first met@@s.e.e455

Also I promise you that even in America if you tell ppl the entire story nobody is gonna look at you as the bad guy. You stepped up and gave a child a home and didn’t ask for anything in return, that’s universally a good thing. Which is obvious to everyone else because both of them make it well known they’re like family to each other as in brother and sister. They act that way and everything, nothing weird was going on. Hell the closest we got to either of them thinking romantically was AFTER she was no longer living in his house and she started to feel like she liked him, by that time she’s probably already 18 taking what the og comment stated. Like nobody is gonna think he’s weird for allowing a homeless teenage girl to live in his house so she’s not outside being homeless, that’s never a bad thing. I dont think this anime is bad or gross but I think sometimes people mistake a care-giver as a spouse qnd I think this anime would flourish with going that extra way to show that evolutions
I’m sorry, a SINGLE man caring for a SINGLE woman, allowing her to live in his house for no money in return basically fits the definition of a spouse. A spouse isn’t always romantic in nature, sometimes it’s just a social contract. He’s not her dad, and she certainly doesn’t see him that way, especially AFTER she leaves. Also, no decent, good young man would feel comfortable keeping a teenage girl in his house for so long, especially since he has so much to lose from it, his career, his good name/reputation, etc. As a man, it’s not just the fact that he could go to jail, he would commit social suicide and may never have a romantic relationship, period. If an older woman cared for a teenage boy, her intentions would be less scrutinized and judged, but it’s very different for men. Even though Japan has lower age-of-consent laws, the situation would be heavily suspicious and look bad for the man. Also, who would keep a teenager with them for so long, or risk having a teenager form inappropriate feelings for you through trauma, or vice versa?
So idk wht there relationship was like but they did care & loved for eachother and that's very rare in a reality world 🌎 thus anime waS very heartwarming ♥

Higehiro was a good story. But like almost every pseudo-anime made today they're only good enough to watch one time. The few Anime still released are like all Anime. They create a desire to watch it again and again in the future.

It's the opposite, he likes older women with big personalities. She felt protected by and safe with him and didn't want to leave because he was the first non pervy guy she ran into. Her feelings slowly developed into a crush but he didn't respond in kind. If you've ever had a young girl crush on you the situation is understandable, every young person goes through crushes and slowly they dissolve over time.

This breaks my heart and pi$$es me off. I've experienced stuff like this. I was in no position to help but i did what i could for them. For example, I stay with my mom and her sister and my siblings and cousin. So I have a couch and that's it. No room right? Anyway after my huge break up that sent me spiraling down the path I'm coming back from. I got mad when I heard my ex might be dating. So I tried, and connected with a girl that used to talk to me when I rode the school bus. She didnt have anywhere to go come to find out, and I ended up helping her by letting her stay the night. After I helped her by taking her to her friends house, since I had no say in the matter of her staying. Yes we slept together, but I told her it was her choice. That she could stay either way, but she began making advances. So I didnt stop her. Anyway, I paid for that trust me. Antibiotics and shame. I stopped talking to her after that. I still remember listening to how she used to do what this girl did in Dallas. Some of her bad experiences, which is why I ended up giving in and sleeping with her, unprotected. I was sad, she made me sadder and wanting to feel loved again. Also to show her how a gentleman takes care of his girl. I had planned to make her my gf at the time. I took her out to eat and bought her things she needed. I was much better off back then. Anyway, didnt work out that way. Another time I got offered acts for product I was moving. I couldnt accept because I was so hurt at the thought of this poor girl having to do that to be ok for a while. I helped her for free. Then another girl offered pics to me for 20 bucks. I refused, one because I wasnt going to make her do that. Two because I didnt have it at the time. I wouldve just gave her the money. I'm telling you. As soon as I can get back on my feet. I plan of making it my business to help poor girls like that. The good man that's left in me cant stand to see a female suffer. Maybe something good will come out of it for me. This anime really hits home with me. I need to watch it. Lol. Even though I am writing 2 myself right now. Wow. Sorry for the freaking book. I didnt mean to go on like that. This just got my blood going, I guess. Hit too close to home.
Please don’t do that. Young girls who have experienced SA need WOMEN to support them, not men who would potentially develop feelings for them when it’s not appropriate, or the young woman is an impressionable, emotionally vulnerable minor who can’t fully consent. She needs to grow in independence and overcome her sexual trauma, otherwise it will deeply effect her relationships. If you see a woman in need, direct her to the nearest women’s shelter, they can do more to help her back on her feet.

It only works in fiction. I’m sorry, I REALLY don’t like anime like this. It especially hurts, because I know girls who have been sexually assaulted in this way, BECAUSE of the comfortable relationship they had with men they thought they could trust in the beginning. It tries to come off as “man saves little girl from the big bad world and becomes the father/brother she never had,” but it ignores how much decent men fear such a suspicious and dangerous situation. In real life, no good man would feel ok with keeping an innocent teenage girl in there house for so long, risk all there YEARS of hard work and career-building and good reputation to then be called a pervert/pedophile. ESPECIALLY in Japan.
He might have let her stay a few days out of sympathy, but even that is pushing reality. If he actually cared, he could’ve sought outside help to put her in a safer living situation. Not risk catching inappropriate feelings for her, and vice versa. This poor girl has been used and abused, the last thing she needed was to become more desensitized to such an inappropriate living situation.
And I hate how they try to make Yaguchi a slightly good guy, but he just wants another opportunity to get her alone. Also, a real r@pist wouldn’t be so honest about what he did and risk going to jail, he would play it off as, “the girl invited me into her house and played hard to get, so I tried to seduce and persuade her.” Guys like that get away with sexual assault when they phrase it as if he didn’t coerce or force the woman. The only way a man would be ok admitting that he abused a poor girls trust and forced her to accept being r@ped would have to be a psychopath.
