For everyone, who are overwhelmed by the speed or make the fight for the boss easier: throw the "Monster Lure"-Item on the ground. Both mobs run for it and you can free powerattack them.

Unfortunately, it just doesn't make the game less of an all consuming grind. A good quality of life improvement would be for higher tier harvesting tools to have more AOE effects (similar to the katana) to make grinding out components, particularly for the ark, less of a soul killing labour...
