- Learn about the new preview feature in Power Apps called PDF. It lets you send information to generate a PDF file directly from the Power App, without the need for a flow.

This was so helpful! I am almost there but I'm a newbie and I am missing how to set up the varRecord variable for the formula. Can you help or point me to where you might have that? Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I did another example of varRecord in this week’s video about the Power Apps toolbar control.
Hello Laura , have a question ,could you explain how varRecord was built ? I'm trying to understand ...I'm beginner ... :) Want to save with item name in PDF...
Hi Laura thank you for the helpful video, can the pdf contain chart ?
I would just try putting a chart control on your screen and see if it comes out in the PDF.
@@WonderLaura i tried this, but it turns out to blank/black :(
In the form view, you have a multiline field, how will this option work if the multiline fields also becomes scrollable?
Not sure, I haven’t tried that. Let me know if you test it.
After publishing app and play, pdf is generating for first visible screen of the scrollable screen.. though it works fine while edit > Preview.
It’s kind of a buggy function, and doesn’t work on mobile.
This helped, thanks. And I loved your sessions in Vegas MPPC23! :)
Great tutorial!! Easy going at a good pace and understandable thank you for your time 🙂
Thank you!😊
tyvm Laura. amazing! you really help us. my last year issue now resolved by watching your tutorial.
I have a problem. I am trying to send a graph in a PDF and it does not work, that is, it is sent but the part where the graphs go arrives completely black, but the rest is displayed correctly...
That doesn’t surprise me. This is still a preview feature and is buggy.
This is what I was looking,
Thank You very much!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the video. Is it possible to pull data from selected columns of the record ( (SharePoint list item)) to print to the PDF file?
As long as they’re on the page you’re printing, yes.
@@WonderLaura Is this PDF function available for production use or still experimental?
@@CHAMONIX552 I just looked on their website, looks like still experimental learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/canvas-apps/how-to/pdf-function
Hi @Laura, great video. I have tested this and i see expand containers is not working. The error shows "PDF Creation Failed" in both SendPDFToEmail as well as save PDF too Document library. Any idea why this is happening?
Maybe it’s the file itself? Try a different, very plain and basic file, as a test.
Hello Thanks for the video. Question... I inserted powerbi tile and wanted to create a pdf thru PowerApps and then email but it's showing a blank screen, any functions that I'm missing?
Sorry I’m not sure. It is still an experimental function and has odd behavior.
The expand container doesn't work when published even though it works fine in preview . Any suggestions pls?
I don’t know.
I had this problem before with a Flex Gallery. When I used a simple vertical gallery that was not a problem. Try do that
Hi Laura,
I am experiencing content break during page break issues for multi page pdf.
Could you tell me any technique to avoid?
I don’t know, sorry.
Hi Laura,
Is it possible to map the user inputs into a fillable PDF?
EG: I have a PDF Template in my computer. This is a fillable PDF Form.
I want to use this PDF in my App, so it maps the user inputs to the PDF fields and email to someone else.
Hope this make sense?
Thanks
You’d have to purchase the enterprise version of Adobe in order to do that as an integration with Microsoft 365.
Is there a way to dynamically save the PDF you create to the attachments column of your SharePoint List?
You could do that via a flow, yes.
Dear I used to have an old version of my apps
it was working perfectly so I didn't touch the formula or anything ,,, it expand the gallery perfectly without any errors put so on so far ,,, I think when I update the apps for different modifications not related to this pdf function, the capability is gone ,,,, the last publishing was one year from now ,,, when I update this august the capability gone .... something related to platform update happens by MS them self
same with mine. let me know if you find any solutions
I just created a brand new app today, 8-14-2023, and the PDF function is still in there. It doesn't look like it's been removed. Be sure to go to the settings and enable the feature called "pdf function".
@@WonderLaura the things is not work is (Expandcontainers) ... the PDF function work but without expanding as what it was
How can I convert multiple screens or different forms into a single PDF?
I don’t think there’s a way to do that. Power Automate has 3rd party products/actions, but that can’t be done in Power Apps.
I couldn't find the variables today either.. took me like 5 minutes to see it on the left. LOL
😃
@@WonderLaura Sorry , saw the varRecord on the left , but how was it done ? Please help me !
None of this worked for me :(
Well that was a year ago, also it’s still showing as an experimental function. Microsoft could have changed stuff 🤷♀️
