Me and my Mom also use green peppers in our tomato sauce. I don't know what it is, but green bell peppers give amazing flavors to a spaghetti sauce!!!! We leave ours whole and add in the meat sauce on the side of our spaghetti. Also, we cut off the tops of our bell peppers and remove the seeds and freeze them, that way we always have bell peppers for our spaghetti sauce!

I'm 74 and your recipe is VERY similar to mine! I don't cook as much as I used to because I have to sit while cooking and that takes a lot of the joy out of it. About 20 years ago I started "baking" my meatballs! That is so good to me. I don't have to go through the mess of frying and they bake up terrific! I think I use about 300 degrees. I let them bake slowly and the amount of fat that is in them is plenty to keep them from drying up. That way some of the fat comes out, too! Love to watch your EXCELLENT videos of cooking! You are so clean, precise, and very good at giving instructions! You're my favorite cooking show by far! Thank you, Rachel! 😊❤🙏

Yummy! I'm Italian American and your meatball recipe looks good. The fresh herbs add so much. My mom never put sugar in the sauce, I never do either but I also don't cook it as long as she did. My Grandma made tiny meatballs and fried them pretty hard. They were crunchy. She used to used stale Italian bread soaked in milk and squeezed out before adding to the meat mixture. She never used onion or garlic powder. Also, my grandmother never put the meatballs in the sauce, we always ate them on the side but she would add short ribs, sausages ( hot or sweet) and braciole to the sauce. Braciole is thinly pounded beef with Italian cold cuts like salami or cappacola, herbs and cheese like fontina all rolled up and tied with string. The braciole is then pan fried and added to the sauce when browned. Every Sunday we went to her house with all of her other children and their families and eat a big feast in the basement. My grandpa helped her cook. Then he'd give us kids Tuscan bread dipped in wine. Those were wonderful times with grandparents, aunts, uncle's and cousins.
Ha ha, sounds like my grandma's sauce! She would add leftover steak, pork chops, etc. Then my grandpa would slice cantaloupe for an appetizer and serve cheap burgundy mixed with 7 up. Good times!

I love using San Mariano tomatoes. I’ve tried partially baking my meatballs, but prefer searing them. I Lao remove the meatballs and finish cooking the pasta in the sauce for a few minutes, Al dents is perfect for this method. Looks delicious.

I started my sauce tonight so the flavors could really mingle overnight. I simmer it for hours to get the perfect thickness desired. Ill let it simmer again tomorrow while i make the meatballs to add, and my pasta. Then i start watching my videos and you re making it too!😆👍 love your show! An italian lady taught me years ago to do pork ribs in my sauce while simmering and use a little cinnamon, and add the meatballs later.
I used to put country style pork ribs in my sauce. I don’t know why I stopped! It was really good. Next time. Just made sauce two days ago so it will be a while. I want to make these meatballs also. Thank you.
.... I have also used the beef ribs and it gives a great flavour as well... in the event you don't have ( or can't locate pork ribs ). The ribs - any type deepen the flavour and I also add a cup of good red wine, about two hours before the sauce is ready . ( I usually make my Sauce in the Crockpot.)

My mom used to work, packing tomatoes and would bring home a crate of the "imperfect" ones and would make the best tomato sauce. If we had extra money she would make meatballs to go with the sauce. Like all of your recipes we’ve made, this meal is delicious! I did add sautéed mushrooms because we love them in our sauce, and would never want them to go bad. This meatball recipe is a keeper for sure. So easy and really good! I’m an old cook, and used to cook my sauce for hours. Not anymore. Now that I have more time, I’m not strong enough anymore for that. Hubs and does all the prep and cleanup and I do the fun parts. This has all the flavor we look for in a spaghetti and meatball dinner, and is not difficult at all. Thanks for another winner.

My mom used to work, packing tomatoes and would bring home a crate of the "imperfect" ones and would make the best tomato sauce. If we had extra money she would make meatballs to go with the sauce. Your recipes remind me so much of hers. Thank you for sharing. I felt like I was watching my mom cook one of my favorite meals.

Like all of your recipes we’ve made, this meal is delicious! I did add sautéed mushrooms because we love them in our sauce, and would never want them to go bad. This meatball recipe is a keeper for sure. So easy and really good! I’m an old cook, and used to cook my sauce for hours. Not anymore. Now that I have more time, I’m not strong enough anymore for that. Hubs and does all the prep and cleanup and I do the fun parts. This has all the flavor we look for in a spaghetti and meatball dinner, and is not difficult at all. Thanks for another winner.
