    Another great video. Done quite a few of these Celica clutches over the years and I actually bought one of those Exedy clutch kits whilst I was in the UK in 2019 as they were half the price of what we pay here in Australia. Stuck it in my suitcase before returning home and fitted it over the hot Christmas holiday that year.

    Wow. I've become utterly fascinated with this channel.
    The only mechanic work I have experience with is heavy equipment (Bobcat and Doosan) so transfer case/transmission/drive train stuff is really out of my area of knowledge.
    Quite enjoyable to watch you work. Keep up the good work.

    Thank you so much Kevin for your hard work. This is probably one of the best videos I've seen for a Toyota clutch job as I am a Toyota fan myself and own several Toyota vehicles and one with a manual transmission. I look forward to doing a clutch job on my own vehicle sometime in the near future. This one is probably similar to what I have. Mine is a C59 transmission from the 2009 to 2013 Corolla model years.
    I used to do mobile mechanic work for a couple years, but it got too difficult for me since I didn't have a suitable vehicle and being hard on the body and since I got injured recently so I do most jobs on the driveway with sometimes very few mobile service calls.
    A lot of technicians/mechanics have told me they wouldn't do a job like this on the driveway, but I have done many difficult jobs without many problems. Sure it is harder working on the ground, but not much of a choice since having a shop with a hoist comes with a huge cost for overhead, etc.
    I am surprised by the amount of strength you got to pull these transmissions apart all by yourself. You make these clutch jobs look like a walk in the park. 😂
    I have been working on the ground for over a decade now and I just got used to it.
    It gives me more confidence now to do a job like this looks easier than I thought it would be hopefully I could tackle this job some day. Thanks for your hard work. You're probably one of the hardest working men I've seen around in this industry.

      If you're tight like me and don't like spending too much on your car repairs, I always brought my UK MOTs forward to the summer months so that I could do any repairs myself rather than paying someone else to do it in the cold winter months. No longer an issue for me here in Western Australia as not only is it still good weather in the winter months but we don't actually have MOTs. As long as you keep your car permanently registered, you never need to have it inspected. You are obviously required to keep it roadworthy, but no annual inspection required......Ever.

    Hi iv seen in a load of your videos you don't change the solid flywheels do you take one just incase or is there no need to change them ? I have a zafira 1.6 there's loads of clutch judder when pulling off should I change the flywheel aswell or not bother

    • @xj358
      @xj358 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've chased down clutch judder before only to find that it was actually worn or broken engine/gearbox mounts. Mine weren't even split but the rubber had become weak and spongy which, in turn, caused the judder. Even worn ball joints can give apparent clutch judder. Check them all first before you finally decide it's the actual clutch causing the problem.

    Another precision job just a quick question why did you use red rubber grease on gearbox instead off normal grease

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For its anti oxidisation properties and unlike white or copper grease it won’t ever disintegrate or melt to turn into sludge… it will prevent dry rust from the metal contact on the spline and clutch plate that will prevent clutch drag which is a main cause for premature clutch wear., especially if you drive in the city constantly on the pedal it will stop the plate getting hot moving back and forth constantly over a 1k revs per minute .. so it quite important.

    UK climate and lack of salt on roads spared this Toyota, i have somewhere pictures of friend's Celica underneath, it's rust, 70% of bolts rusted and became one with threads, 20% broke off in attempt to remove them, and 10% gave in to liquid wrench, it was horror to work on, the shops wanted so much money to do anything on it he ended up just doing it himself. Good job.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure you’re fully aware of UK climate mate .. but what I do know because of the unforgiving wet roads cars used to rust very quickly so any vehicle shipped here are fully treated galvanised metal.

    This looks very typical of those early Toyota's. I once owned a MK3 Supra Turbo, and its common for the heads to blow a gasket. I decided to remove the engine myself as I was concerned about big end damage from overheating. Oh my god was it a job from hell. My mates came around and witnessed the amount of stuff coming out including the wiring loom for the engine. I learned from a local garage when asking about getting the engine overhauled that I had done the part they would have refused to do. Getting it back was even worse. Access to bolts needed the hands of a small child. Lots of swearing and cut knuckles later and endless hours it was back in. Great car but a nightmare to work on. You rarely see them on the road now for good reason.

      Colin I always say the same .. I understand their concept of durability.. but honestly the amounts of trinket that needs coming off ..
      my theory is that there’s a whole industry based on supplying brackets to hold another bracket .. otherwise I just can’t make sense of it either.
      Why a whole cross member when you can have a simple dog mount attached from gearbox to subframe .. that is just one example ..
