It appears this video is doing fairly well for it being only my third video on story analysis. For any new viewers, my next video will be an analysis of Grave of the Fireflies. I will also be making videos on In This Corner of World, Attack on Titan, NieR: Automata, and I’ll be doing analysis on films, such as: After Life, Drive My Car, All About Lily Chou Chou and more. Lastly, of course I’ll be doing more analysis on A Silent Voice. There is so much to say about this movie in particular.

Silence voice was one of those animes that made me reflect. every time i watch it, i reflect. I see myself in every character. I watch it and I feel like I'm rewatching my own life take place and, it's one of those animes that make me just. do better. I feel like silent voice, along with a few other animes were honestly the key reasons I became a happier person, thus a better person as a whole. I really apperciate this video because it acknowledges how even fiction can effect reality and vice versa. :3

Thank you for this comment. I’m happy A Silent Voice helped make your life better. That’s the joy of anime and stories as a whole. I want to make plenty more videos like this to show, like you said, how even fiction can affect reality. 😁

To me the key points of this wonderful movie are the two main characters Shoko and Shoya should learn to accept themselves to be able to acknowledge the attemp of redemption (by Shoko) which Shoya tries to provide. If you don´t love yourself at least a bit you cannot ask for forgiveness of your wrongs. But to show this in a realistic way is not an easy task. Naoko Yamada excelled on that, in a film were visual storytelling is dominant (even if it has great dialogues too). If you don´t mind, I will recommend Liz and the bluebird also from Naoko Yamada, where she explores themes alike further.
Anyway, A Silent Voice has become a great classic, and it is very relatable how real and sympathetic to the MC´s you feel, even if it is very far from being an easy watch. It is also worth noticing that the most despicable characters (Ueno and Kawai) you cannot truly hate, even if they are terrible persons. Maybe, at least in my case, is because I have people among my family and acquaintances that are very much like them. That´s simply life, and you have to cope with it...

As soon as I saw this video pop up in recommendations I knew I had to watch it. I've watched a silent voice about 5 times now and every single time I end up crying. More than that I find small things I didn't notice before that make sense and have purpose. This movie has become my favorite for that reason and even though I may not have lived my life similar to theirs in the movie I am close to many people who have. I have even watched this movie with a struggling friend before and they were able to have change from just that!

A SILENT VOICE MENTIONED YOOOO THAT FILM MADE ME CRY- it made me want to learn sign language. And now I am :) I actually bought all the books as well! Just like shoya I used to be confused as well and was making fun of Deaf people, so my story kinda resonates with him. I guess that’s why it made me cry, also the depression aspect. I also learned to love rollercoaster :3 and when shoko attempts and shoya saves him, taking her place and possibly dying, I felt that. My friend saved me.

NieR: Automata is the perfect game choice for a video of this kind. That game's story is so wild I started crying when it popped up on screen... I'm really dramatic and cry about a lot of things I really care about, but Automata just hits so different I can't do it justice. It makes me sad that so many people I see assume that I don't know what a good story is because I cling to this one instead of one in a book. They are really missing out on something that a written story could never even dream of doing.

I kinda wanna share a story that impacted me the most, coming from the same studio that animated koe no katachi, Violet Evergarden. For me, I felt what Violet was going through especially when hearing the last words of my grandmother when I was younger being “I love you,” before the pandemic started. The growth violent went through, helped me to mourn and cope from her passing. I’ve started from saying “I love you,” with out knowing how I am using it, to reading a letter I wrote to myself 4 years ago for the version of me that graduated high school. Sorry if it’s long, I felt a bit motivated from the video to share a bit from my experience with stories. 😅

Silent voice is good and kinda wholesome sometimes but I can't really find a reason to cry after finishing it. I mean it's beautiful that's all I know or maybe I can see some things I can relate to but I just couldn't resonate 100% with it and I'm not sure why. Either I've turn cold or I'm just that used to these situations now. Either way, I think I cried more to losing an important figure or loosing sense of belongings. I can relate to kms or bullying others as I've tried it myself but Overall, I think it depends of what saddens you the most. Might also comes from experience or preference.
Other than that, I wanted to say your explanation and points is pretty okay and I'd love to see more videos like it. Good luck
I think maybe I'm the one to overthink stuff. I can see things logically and I'd like to see things more of 'my way' instead of trying to feel what others feel but mostly in stories or movies. I always think twice before stating or saying anything and I'm always considerate of people's feelings depending on what they are going through or what they've done. Sometimes people need reality checks you know and I can't hold it

I started by making AMV’s to learn and practice video editing. I made AMV’s for about 2 years until I felt confident I could edit good and engaging videos. I spent over 4 years learning and practicing writing. I read a lot of books and studied many great authors-learning their techniques and style. This is how I started. im 30 seconds in and im not going to give this video a chance. to understand the video id have to pause every 5 seconds. "stories have served as beacons, illuminating the path of wisdom and personal growth" "the medium matters little the essence of a story is invariable" "although fiction stories convey elements of truth. Not in a pragmatic sense but rather a metaphysical one"
Why are you saying it like that personally i understand but only after i pause the video. maybe im dumb but certainly that part with "stories convey elements of truth" do you really expect any one to understand, i have to pause to even figure out how the word metaphysical is being used, personally i feel like your language is not complex to simplify explanation but complex to sound smart. i think it makes your content harder to understand without any benefit. if you argue that its beautiful, or descriptive i would disagree since this is a video and i can not appreciate the wording since its too much.
just my opinion tho, gl with youtube.
    edit: misquote

    • @thinkwithpurpose
      @thinkwithpurpose  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

When I wrote the script for the video I was worried the majority of people would have a difficult time understanding what I’m attempting to convey. However, I decided at the beginning of starting my TH-cam channel that I would not compromise my explanations for simplicity. The result has been overwhelmingly positive. However, I fully acknowledge I am limiting the amount of reach and engagement I can receive from people. I am okay with this. My channel is dedicated to educating people on the significance and importance of stories. I am a teacher first and foremost that wants to help others understand storytelling on a more fundamental and symbolic level. I have been writing essays and my own stories for over 4 years. My writing is not sophisticated to merely sound smart-this is how I talk in person as well. My language is complex because the topic is complex and requires such wording to detail the point properly. Furthermore, plenty of other TH-camrs make videos like this and have had great success with it. “Stories convey elements of truth. Not in a pragmatic sense, but a metaphysical one.” This is actually a pretty straight forward statement. It means stories have truth. Not in a physical way, like “the sky is blue” but in an abstract way, like “life has meaning.” The terminology in this sentence is only around 9th grade vocabulary, so it’s a little weird you bring this up as your example. Nonetheless, I understand your point and I think it’s a good one. Hopefully my comment doesn’t sound like I’m insulting you. I’m simply justifying why I made the video the way I did. There are definitely lots of things I can do better that I will work to improve on. I don’t think my channel will be your cup of tea. Thank you for the comment though. I appreciate you wishing me luck with TH-cam.

@@thinkwithpurposeyou are right the comments love the video, maybe this is because of my limited vocabulary but i rarely hear and almost never words like pragmatic or metaphysical so it makes it harder to understand also it takes a bit of time for me to understand the "metaphors" like the beacons part, but would you really lose that much by using simpler words/ more direct metaphor in your explanations? I'm a 22 years old university student my vocabulary is probably below average but i would say my comprehension skills are average. in any case good luck bye.

In defense of the words, I hear them all the time from people like C.S. Lewis, Fredrich Nietzsche, Carl Yung, etc. which is what I spend a good portion of my time reading. It wouldn’t hurt to exclude them, which is why I considered simplifying my speech before writing the script. But by using such words I believe my point is conveyed better than if I had not, which is why I don’t want to compromise anything just to appeal to a wider audience. I acknowledge your criticism, and if I fail as a TH-camr as a result then that’s on me. I’ll stop bugging you though. Have a great rest of your day.

Silent Voice hit me because I’m familiar with not having a sense I have Anosmia (not having a sense of smell) which isn’t nearly as debilitating as being deaf. However there is still an air of isolation with it and it lead to a bit of bullying for reasons. This movie / manga really hits deep. I can’t watch or read it without tearing up
