    i didn't imagine Aron that fit :D
    seeing him that active had me quite wondering as i'm used to see him stand in front of an audience not much moving.

    AronRa must be quite the sight in England with his hat and duster.

    • @The1stMrJohn
      @The1stMrJohn 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul TheSkeptic
      that's funny in England, traditionally a duster would be a long stick with feathers attached at one end, used for removing dust from the higher areas in a room.
      Do Americans know who the,
      very elderly now,
      English comedian Ken Dodd is?
      tickle-me pink!

    • @PaulTheSkeptic
      @PaulTheSkeptic 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MISTERJOHN JOHN Ha ha. We call that a feather duster. A duster is also a long coat worn by cowboys and other horsemen in the 1800's to keep the dust off their nice suite. Now they're worn by those who have a bit eccentric taste, like AronRa.
      Well, I don't know who that is but I'm usually the last to hear about things. It's good to learn about a new comic though.

    I cant confirm this, but my father used to tell me that when he was a child in the 1930s, he and his friends would avoid the school truant officers by "skinny dipping" in the lakes in Crystal Palace Park and used to swim inside the large dinosaurs that were hollow. Theres was also an impressive bronze statue of Guy the Gorilla in that park. I used to go there a lot as a teenager and fish in the lake.

    Ah... I see ***** likes to get a picture of himself standing near oddities in the UK.
    Any chance those dinosaur statues later used a computer at the Back 2 Work centre to make a video claiming that Aron was both harassing them and running away from them? (No? It was just the one oddity that did that?)

      Dinos ain't people. They are all sodomites, since cloacae are neither vaginas nor penises and we all know that Gawd-ah approves only of PiV sex.

    • @marsCubed
      @marsCubed 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      AnEntropyFan Sodomy does not mean gay sex, that meaning only came about many hundreds of years later in letters between priests.
      The original meaning of sodomy was bigotry.. ie, Solomon says of Sodomites, that they refused to provide help and shelter to strangers... angels are sexless, thus cannot have been homosexually assaulted.. etc etc..
      Please see this article from the University of Idaho.

    One issue I've always had with christians defending God and his creations is: If God is a PERFECT being then wouldnt he create only perfection? If yes then why are we and this world NOT perfect? If no then they are admitting that God is not perfect.

    A little bit of "Walking with dinosaurs" over there. I also want to go there one day. I knew about the Iguanadon for a long time. That looks like an iguana and has a nose horn, but the actual one was more like a Hadrosaur and had thumb spikes. Still, for a mid-1800s effort, you really can't blame them very much. It's as if on Mars, we found a few fossils but only of a small part of the body. We'd probably try to make them resemble animals on Earth, even if they didn't look that way. The important thing is the willingness to find out more and modify one's views based on new evidence.

    I can see the theist now looking at that last picture, “ah, we knew it!”, since they are all used to worshiping engraved images, it’s hard for them to imagine that everyone else doesn’t. This is why they’re sure that atheists must worship at the foot of a Charles Darwin statue. Great picture.

    Well these things were made quite a long time ago and even if they are not correct they were pretty good works of art.
    It is a shame that they have been left to rot rather than preserving them, did he get to see the gorilla everyone takes a look at the gorilla it's yet another great bit of art work.
    For sure it would be better if these things were absolutely correct but like the man said they didn't have the knowledge then.

    I think this park is fine. Aron is wrong to knock ideas 150 years after the fact.
    This was before The Origin of Species, after all, and I'm sure it kindled interest in what was not yet a Science. It's fine. If someone thinks it's Science, everyone can explain the Science must be established before making a call. If someone thinks it's not Science, you can point to similar Creationist theme parks. :) I say keep it!
    Edit: I'm too late? They tore it down? Ach.

    • @alienweirdo8337
      @alienweirdo8337 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paleontology was young and there were few answers then. Just because we have many answers 150 years later doesn't make it dishonest or dead wrong at the time. It was a park. It's fine.
      Those who are not shallow realize this.

    • @alienweirdo8337
      @alienweirdo8337 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      My point is that it's a little to easy to point out errors after 150 years of paleontology, especially with the level of conjecture we experience every decade within this field.
      In 2165, shallow people may laugh at 2015 exhibits featuring Torosaurus and Triceratops as two separate species, or various colorful plumes for mating, or blood-filled ridges for which there is no hard evidence, and so on. Those dishonest 21st Century paleontologists, just look at that Smithsonian exhibit! What were they thinking?

    • @alienweirdo8337
      @alienweirdo8337 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Owen's bias was against anyone coming along trying to be a better naturalist than he. And he really was one of the finest naturalists before, during, and after this time, with an unrivalled expertise in fossils. His expertise and his ill-reputed personal traits are irrelevant to the design of these dinosaurs.
      Hawkins, who sculpted the dinosaurs from current knowledge and his own knowledge in the field, could not just "stick to the bones" like modern exhibits do. He had to flesh out the dinosaurs, and he did the best he could with limited knowledge. This knowledge is still limited today. At the time, there was no consensus around a theory suggesting dinosaurs were bird-like in external appearance or behavior. So, quite naturally, this resulted in the quite "terrible lizards" presented in the Crystal Palace park.
