What a great story about how you started, I really enjoyed, I imagined growing in P.R. the experience Dandy talked-about it really were joyful days... Titito Rivera Pérez Lorenz Thank you
The school of bongo, John Dandy Rodriquez. I have the 1964 tribute model and the Gen.3s... great instruments... Praying for your full recovery, maestro.👏🏼🙌🤲☝🏽🙏🏼💖👑
Still got my late 80s generation II LP bongos, still sound great. I’ve spent 30 years enjoying Dandy’s music and learning those classic dandy chops! Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I grew up on 167th and Hoe Ave in the Bronx. As a kid I went to a karate school on Freeman St.. Walking to Freeman St. there was an LP instrument store. I recall vividly the congas, timbales and bongos displayed in the window display. Do you recall this store? Circa '72 '73 I was 10yrs old.
i'm sorry to say this, but i did saw a photo which i'm trying to get again..but i saw santitos colon playing bongoes besides tito puente. So Dandy says that santito played only guiro and cowbell other than singing. But santitos DID PLAYED the bongoes with puente before he went full lead singer . .sorry Dandy (rest in peace) !! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE MUSIC YOU HAVE LEFT US...ONE OF MY IMPRESSIONS ABOUT YOU, WAS KNOWING YOU PLAYED WITH JOE CUBA SEXTEXT..THAT BLEW MY BRAINS, A VERY GOOD AND IMPRESSIVE JOB.
Great anecdotes Dandy. Love it all until the kid showed up. He is clueless, has no charm or presence and Johnny Rodriguez is way too big for this kid. I myself would love to interview Mr. Rodriguez. Blessings.
