    I was able to reprogram 3 fobs for my wife's 2008 Toyota Sienna using this technique. Apparently you have to do this any time you replace the battery in any fob.
    A few years back, her main fob stopped working, so I replaced the battery but it still didn't work. Dealer said we needed to replace the fob and charged more than $200 most of which was for the reprogramming. Now, that newest fob stopped working and once again replacing the battery didn't work. Using your technique I was able to reprogram both fobs that deprogrammed when their batteries became depleted along with the one that was still working. Thank you so much for sharing this video and the written instructions. You saved me a couple of hundred bucks. I just wish I had found this video earlier so I could have avoided that initial dealer rip off. 🙂

      Thanks a lot! I needed this information. Mine always stopped working when I get a new battery (now I know why). I've thought of replacing it... But thanks for this info. I'll get a new battery and just reprogram.

      There's no such thing as them deprograming you have no idea what you're talking about.

    Your instructions were excellent! It worked on my 2010 Toyota Sienna and saved me $161 that the Toyota dealership wanted to charge me (when it took me less than 5 minutes to program). Just remember that (as instructed in the video) you do have to reset both remotes at the end of the process (the part about pushing the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob at the same time). Otherwise, you'll be programming one remote and de-programming the second remote (the one that worked originally). It pays to follow instructions exactly. Thanks again!!

    Bought my 2008 Toyota Sienna XLE back in December 2012 and only one alarm remote is working and thought the other spare remote is out of battery and got new battery for it and didn't work either. But after watching your video, you gave me hope. I reprogrammed and works like magic. Lock, unlock, and sliding doors works PERFECTLY. You save me two hundred dollars from the *stealer* (dealer). Thank you so much.

    If it doesn't work, for 2006 Sienna, 1) start engine for 10 seconds, to fully cancel previous programming mode. 2) when you get to the step where you turn the ignition on then off, if the lock doesn't automatically cycle, pull the key out of the ignition to force the lock cycle. Found this procedure in other youtube videos, and this modified procedure worked for me.

    • @muratozkan7432
      @muratozkan7432 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For what it's worth, I must have tried 5 times on my 2006 sienna before I got it to work and I didn't start the engine to reset the procedure. I just closed the door, hit the automatic lock to lock all doors, unlocked the driver's side door, opened the driver's side door, and took the key out.

    WOW!!! That worked. Thank you. I have a 2010 Sienna. Remote randomly stopped working. Replaced battery. No dice. I ran through the process and the remote magically works again. Thank you again for saving me the cost of a replacement fob. YOU ROCK!

    @mdavis6890 12 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Worked great on my 2006 Sienna, thanks!
    The first time the side door buttons wouldn't work, so I tried it again and it worked. The difference might have been that the first time, the side doors started from a locked position, the second time from an unlocked position.
    So if your side door buttons don't work, try leaving all your doors unlocked when you do this.

    Dan....You are AWESOME! I lost my whole set of keys with my remote. I called the Toyota dealership and it was $175 for the remote itself and another $50 for them to program it as that was "the only way to do it". I looked on TH-cam and found your video. I have to be honest....I thought it was too good to be true and that it wouldn't work if I ordered a remote off of Ebay. Regardless, I gave it a try. $17 for the remote, $5 for shipping, and this video and it works!!! Thanks for sharing!

    Yesterday my 2009 Sienna's key fob stopped working and I thought it was a dead battery. With a new battery and the fob being tested for signal strength, the fob still didn't work. A guy at the battery replacement parts store mentioned that there probably was a TH-cam video on the procedure to reprogram the fob. Sure enough, this video was right on the mark. It may be a lot of steps, but according to my brother-in-law; it saved me about $100 from having the Toyota dealership do the reprogramming.

    This worked perfect. Thank you so much for saving me some money! Your explanation was spot on, and it was slow enough that I followed along with the steps as you talked and only had to watch the video a couple times to fix my remote (I would have only had to watch once if I realized I needed to reprogram both remotes because fixing one automatically made the other deactivate, which I should have realized initially :-)...but I walked through the steps twice within 5 minutes and both my fobs are working now). Just as an FYI, my remote stopped working randomly, I had a new battery put in at a battery store (they tried 3 batteries and none worked), and before giving up I decided to google my problem. So if you get a new battery and that doesn't fix the problem, try doing this.

    4/12/2019... It worked on my 2006 Sienna. Key point is that when you reprogram per this video, make sure you do it to both key FOBs, not just on the one that's not working. Background: On mine, one key FOB wasn't working, so I followed the video and it started working. However, the 2nd key FOB that did not have a problem, stopped functioning after the 1st key FOB was reprogrammed. Therefore, I did the reprogram again, but did it to both key FOBs successively like the video shows. Now, both key FOBs are working like it should.

    Anyone know if this works on a 2016 sienna? The description says it does, but ever other site I view and all the generic remote sales websites say from 2011 onward REQUIRES programming at dealer or authorized locksmith. Anyone confirm this has worked on sienna's 2011 or newer?
