Excellent option to getting out of a 1/2 guard with heavy top pressure! Thank you OUS!

I've found myself using this just by necessity. However, sometimes my butterfly hook get slipped for easy mount/pass. I can feel the danger of it when using halfbutter. But man it is needed, instead of clamming up in halfguard and leg clamping-- waiting to be passed.

Had the same happen to me for a while, i think it's when you try to half butterfly when being smashed and with no upper/lower body connection. Because your shoulders are flat and only the hips twist you cant really follow to finish the sweep. Hope it made a bit of sense

I've gotten swept like that from half guard thousands of times... It's good to learn what the people used to do to me.

I tried to drill this about 30 times and it feels like I'm trying to sweep a brick wall.
There's probably some concept that I don't seem to grasp and is not highlighted. Tom is performing the sweep like it's not hard, but this is not the case with me...

the foot on the floor, load up onto your sweeping shoulder , theres a rotation of the posting foot on the floor, try to get your toes to push the mat

Prevjet Vlad! The power does not have anything to do with the hooked leg and everything to do with the bottom leg driving into the planet.

It usually means their center of gravity is too far away from you. When their weight is directly over you (loaded) it should feel much easier

What if your opponent starts to knee cut? That's what happens to me.

I have a TERRIBLE time getting that butterfly hook in half guard. I must be doing something wrong, but I cannot figure it out. Any thoughts?

Try shrimping / scooting-out to make space, then you’ll have better space to hook it in and better body positioning

I'm still just learning this position, but you have to fight the instinct to keep the knee shield, take out your whole leg/knee for a moment (and shrimp multiple times if necessary) before threading the foot back in; sometimes my foot goes on their hip first, pushes a bit, before being threaded back in
