@reggin_spelt_backwards that was a long time ago already. Being acquired by a Chinese company doesn't necessarily mean quality will tank. But if Trump increases tariffs it could mean that for all brands who import into the US.

I love the artistry of fashion, but the most interesting part is how people engineer the construction, esp when it’s very good. I live in Montana & like to spend a lot of time outdoors even in the winter - these details make a huge difference for me, really badly made sportswear is a true hazzard (omg u can tell I’m Gen X; I’m a great speller but apparently I copy the “Dukes of Hazzard” 😂) here. It’s not just the quality of fabric that determines warmth & blown seams or other “minor” problems can make a garment genuinely dangerous.

@@DomWoodit’s not free. It’s not paywalled but if you look into how advertising platforms work, you’ll understand that we do pay for it, but often indirectly. And even bad reviews of hyper-trendy items will increase sales, but the channel can’t help that people are dumb lol. This is fantastic content that you pay a very low price for, probably indirectly, and it may be a tremendous value to you personally. I’m not shading this channel, just correcting a common economic misperception. It’s just like you did not pay a fee to just watch ABC, NBC, CBS & PBS in 1970 but advertising revenue that viewing consumers generated (by buying things advertised) was the funding base to pay the actors, writers, best boys, catering, hair & makeup, etc. Same way that TH-cam works. Ad revenue pays this channel, but clearly he is willing to deliver much higher quality content than is typical.

Winter gear thrifting video would be a dream come true, but I’d be happy with ANY content in this area. I’m still trying to figure out what makes some fleece so much warmer & how to know before I buy. My LL Bean fleece zip is 2x thinner than my Columbia, but ~1.5x warmer. I have a cheap Hanes hoodie with the old fashioned hood style that blocks wind like an expensive tech hoodie, but those gildan ones (which cost about ¡$50!) to support cultural & scientific resources like state parks and they practically beg the wind to slice through… I use silk base layers a lot but I’d love to be able to find exactly the right pieces at Goodwill or even Tractor Supply

2:14 you aren't changing direction so much as changing drape. Making a two dimensional surface into a three dimensional surface. So that way it curves around the knee shape.
You see it more in women's clothing, so curve around shapes in women for more fitted woven fabrics. Princess seaming is common in outdoor gear so clothing lies flat.

I am a sewist and I enjoy making my own clothes. I have only been sewing for a couple of years and my skills are okay at best, I am no way near professional seamstress (which is my goal). I sometimes beat myself up for sewing my clothes i.e uneven seems or uneven a lot things. Your channel helps me feel better about my sewing. I remember when the original tech fleece came out initially as a bomber n98 jacket I think. I had it and loved it. But you’re right it loses its elasticity and shape as you wear it. They’re the best track
Have been a fan and buyer of it since then.
I don’t know if you remember the Tech Knit variant, that was absolute quality. Not sure why they discontinued it. Was amazing.
