    =====================
    May he live forever !
    Ever, ever, ever, ever !
    Honour to his regal name !
    Honour to his regal name !
    May his noble brow emblazon ...
    Glory, fortune, joy and fame !
    Honour be to Pasha Selim ...
    Honour to his regal name !
    Honour to his regal name !
    The curtains fall. Much applause.
    The Emperor claps vigorously and
    following his lead - so do the courtiers.
    The curtains part.
    Mozart applauds the singers
    who applaud him back.
    He skips up onto the stage amongst them.
    The curtains fall again as they all bow.
    In the auditorium,
    the chandeliers descend,
    filling it with light.

    Sadly most do not realise that they are singing in English as indeed others do in the operatic performances. The little snippet at the end showing Salieri reliving the triumph of Axur, re d'Ormus with Father Vogler looking on in bewilderment is really quite touching. (The actor who played Vogler, sadly died from AIDS in 1995.)

    To be a Great composer you have to have excelled in each field of composition. There were other great composers in particular fields, but none who excelled like Mozart in every field of music. And alas, he died at 35, when he showed he was getting even better than Great. Maybe God decided, Mozart, you are too much for this world, come home.

  • @VCT3333
    @VCT3333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The really sad thing is Mozart wanted to compose Operas, but unlike symphonic and chamber instrumental music, Opera composition requires a sponsor and commission. As Mozart was the first freelance musician trying to make it without patronage, he had difficulty getting to write more. And just as he was getting famous enough to be able to get commissions from Opera houses directly, he died. Imagine if instead of around 10 mature Mozart Operas, we have say 25 of them. The World of Opera really missed out on more compositions from people like Mozart, Bizet, Gershwin, Bellini. Just thinking about it makes me feel really sad.

    I still don't get how if in the film, the Emperor didn't like ballet in his operas... I mean that is kind of still a dance during the finale there (also it's amazing how they can sing and jump around like that at the same time, they must have a built-in oxygen tank among their robes in there somewhere) ^o^;
